« on: February 5, 2009, 02:31 PM »
Some LEGO deals for you guys:

-$5.00 off for the Vader's TIE coupon = bscd29

Vader's TIE Advanced $49.99

Imperial AT-ST $49.98

General Grievous $44.99

Awesome!  Thanks for the post.  I was able to get the ATST at the local LEGO store and they were able to order me the TIE online (but no shipping charge)!

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Who Is Not Buying?
« on: January 2, 2009, 02:47 PM »
I'm in the "like the show but not buying the toys" camp.  In fact... I haven't bought much of the Legacy stuff either but I'm looking forward to the aliens in W5!   I did pick up the lancer droid and hopefully will get the Magna Guards too (though I may wait until they re-release with a cape int 201X)

LEGO / Re: LEGO Death Star

Interesting, Hasbro must keep in mind Lego DS for a larger playset, like an update of vintage death star.
Nice distribution, both scenes from anh and rotj.

Yeah... I can't wait to finish this one.  LEGO sent me a link where I could DL the pdf of the rules... just got through the missing pages last night.   I just wish it would fit in my Detolf case.... there's a minute chance but the listed dimensions aren't encouraging for it.

Jocasta's Reading Room / Re: Opinions on "Splinter of the Mind's Eye"?
« on: December 24, 2008, 01:12 PM »
I've always like Alan Dean Foster's writing and I enjoyed Splinter way back when and recently re-read it.  It's too bad that it can only really be an "offshoot" EU story and doesn't really "fit" with the rest of the OT or EU.

The Legacy Collection / Re: Do You "Collect 'Em All"?
« on: December 24, 2008, 12:49 PM »
Not any more: I used to collect a carded and opener of all the figures.... then along came POTC..... and the repacks galore.   About this time in 2006 I decided a few things concerning my collecting habits.   As a musician, I decided to focus primarily on the musicians and aliens and even then mostly OT.   I also decided to "liberate" most of my boxed vehicles and figures ( The Great Unboxing of 2006) which has become an ongoing process.    My ROTS figures are nicely displayed carded at the moment so I'm inclined to leave them there until later, and I still need to make a decision about my POTJ figs (I really like the packaging of these).
Now, I'm pretty much just buying OT figures they haven't made (esp Cantina/JP Aliens) and "significantly upgraded" versions of OT figures.  I've discovered that my "musician" focus may be a little too narrow but I did just pay up the nose for the "holy grail"- the GG Electronic Holiday Max Rebo of which only 200 were made and (I believe) I'm getting number 1 of 200.   One of my best friends has a unique sketch of the Modal Nodes with a bunch of signatures on it but he won't part with it   :'(

I'm also collected the Sideshow 1/6 figures but with the way they're headed, I'm sticking to OT and just figures I want.   I really loved the Unleashed line and have a complete set of them and I'm into the larger LEGO sets (working on Death Star playset atm)

Advice:  don't collect just to collect.... collect to enjoy!

The Legacy Collection / Re: Expanded Universe Wave?
« on: December 23, 2008, 01:15 PM »
Hasbro has confirmed two EU figures in this week's QnA...

Quinlan Vos (perhaps the Jedi robes version?)

and ...

Oh goody, QV can peg warm beside the comic packs that will be on the pegs for all eternity around here.

It'll probably just be a carded release of the verions USED in the comic pack  :-\

See first post in this thread... the 4 Crimson Guards in this set are "New Sculpts" (i.e. never been offered/released before).

Looks to me to be A  "New Sculpt" used 4 times but with color variations and different heads

Ugh... I'm almost done with the bottom section but noticed that they booklet has a repeat of steps 62-72 instead of 73-83!
Doh!

I'd love to see a retooled S/A QuiGon though!

So a repack of the TAC or Legacy Evo versions then?

I want something better than those... I'm not sure what it was but I just plain didn't like them.   The neck... makes him look part Kaminoan

If anyone is interested, comicsinfinity.com has the Han Carb for preorder for $179.99. Saving $20. is better than nothing I guess.

Tempting but methinks I can convince myself that I can just as easily keep using either of my Hasblo Han/Carbs for my Jabba setup

The Wookiee Arcade / Re: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
« on: September 25, 2008, 05:57 PM »
With the chatter between everyone, it's a real shame there's no on line mulit-player element. That would have clinched it for me to pick it up.

Due to life being hella busy right now, I've only really played around with the first level.   Gotta say, it reminds me quite a bit of Galaxies with the scripted paths and the scenery.   An online multi-player force dueling element would have be aweseome.   Guess we'll just have to wait for the Wii dueling game

LEGO / Re: LEGO Death Star
« on: September 25, 2008, 05:49 PM »
Acutally stopped in at the LEGO store a week or two ago and ordered one... just showed up at my door last night.   Now I just gotta see if it'll fit into my Detolf case so I can display under the DS II  :P
Based on the dimensions, it's gonna be a tight fit and I may need to make some... special modifications...
