R2-A5.

The only character ever completely excised from the Star Wars universe when GL decided to plaster a Ronto leg over him in the SE.  More than any other character, he deserves to be immortalized in plastic before he is forgotten forever.

Droid Factory 2013 / Re: 2013 Droid Factory Wave 2
« on: July 19, 2012, 05:20 PM »
I'm really excited about the droid choices for this wave.  Those are two good looking droids.  R8 is a CW resculpt, and R5 has most of the same parts as BAD R2-R9 except for the dome, so they shouldn't make things too difficult for those that aren't completely obsessive.

Just saw pics of the new Disney BAD cards on the otheR site.  They're pretty cool!  Really small, not much bigger than the bubble.

The Original Trilogy / Re: Torchering droids?
« on: May 27, 2012, 11:06 AM »
Likewise, in the last season of Clone Wars there was an episode where a bunch of pirates captured R2 & 3PO and were having droid gladiator fights (understandable for gambling) and also marching a bunch of droids into a smelter, which makes absolutely no sense since they seemed to all be functional droids.

Once/If the hit DL, expect these guys to show up on ebay in force.  Even with the admission increase, there will still be close to a million people with annual passes, so they can stop by the park and pick up a few droids whenever they're in the mood.  Heck, I'm sure more than a few will be more than happy to recoup some of the park's cost increase by ebaying exclusive park merchandise, including these droids.  That very idea is probably part of the reason this concept hasn't made it to DL yet.

Hey guys, I'd like to give a huge public shout out to Pete, as I was one of the collectors he was so generous with in finding time to help out during his epic, and already legendary, Disney quest!  He gave me a great deal, and I can't thank him enough for all his help!

I received the  droids yesterday, and they were impeccably packaged.  My brief review is that the cases & cards are very nice, and the droids look really good.  I suffered from the lack of available parts, and missed out on the red R3 dome, and still need a set of black legs to complete one of my droids.  My favorites are the all-green droid, the all red R2 dome (It would be great to get all blue, black, or yellow R2 domes), and the blue R4 dome.  I hope they get more creative with the droid colors in the future.

Disney has got to be making a fortune on these.  By ordering them in bulk bags, and not having to pay the added assembly & packaging fees by having us do the work, I'd be surprised if Hasbro is getting even close to a dollar per part.  I have two more batches of droids coming from friends traveling down this weekend, and in early July.  Hopefully, some of the other parts I need will make an appearance.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Jedi Attack
« on: May 20, 2012, 08:24 PM »
They just showed Jedi that were intensely engaged in combat or at least actively focused on their known foes, so that explains it a bit.  Maybe the unengaged Jedi in the Temple would have been more able to detect the intent of the force marching their way.

Also could be due to a certain degree of blindness towards the troopers due to their clone nature.  I think that the nature of their cloning and mental programming might affect their brains in such a way to make them more automatons than emotional actors of their own free will, thus masking what in most people could be felt as personal desire or consideration.

Thanks for the posting the pictures, Pete!  While I'm really liking the look of the all red droid w/red dome, I'm kinda put off by the fact the parts won't work with previous pieces the same color.

I was interested in your comments about the different tones of the red, blue, and green parts.  Any chance you might be able to do a side-by-side with the previous R2-R9, R3-M3, etc?

The Original Trilogy / Re: Tantive IV crew

Were the guys being taking prisoner before or after the decision was made to kill them?  I don't remember when the Vader scene was in relation to the prisoner scene.

Along those lines, maybe it was just the regular Imperial commander rounding up everyone before he knew/heard/was ordered that everyone was to be killed.
