Kubricks / Re: So is Medicom killing the Kubrick Star Wars line...???

Looks like Kubricks in general may have gone the way of the dodo.  On Medicom's site, all you see announced over the last year or so (?) are Be@rbricks, apart from the odd Star Wars con exclusive like the Imperial Guard guy.

I never really focused on the 1/96 chases because of the ridiculous price.  Most collectors have one form of OCD or another, and trust me--I know there's a compulsion to get everything you can, particularly more popular characters (Tarkin as a 1/96 chase is still one of the most mind-boggling things I've seen in my time as a collector).  BUT. . .$100+ for a Kubrick is very difficult for me to swallow.  I collect Hot Toys figures, so I'm not averse to paying a lot of money for something, but for a 3 inch plastic figure it's just tough, no matter how rare or cool it is.

Compound that with Medicom's troubling trend of re-releasing rare chases as cheap, easy to find 2-packs, and you've got a formula for tears down the road  :-\

So just to follow up, I contacted the seller and he agreed to refund me no problem once I ship it back to him (he bought it from someone else and didn't notice it himself).  I decided I really want the 100% legit version or nothing.  Thanks again for the suggestions.

Thanks for the response fellas.  He says in his auction that he's committed to customer service and will offer refunds, so I'm assuming I won't have any issues if I try to return it.  I'm just torn as to whether or not I should keep it.  I don't reckon I'll be able to get a complete, minty one for less than $80 or so.  How much is a hairpiece worth (rhetorical question :D )?  I'm leaning toward looking for a refund, but still on the fence. . .

So I would not call this a scam, but I recently picked up a figure that I've long lusted after (Dagobah Luke) for what I thought was a great price. . .then it showed up in-hand and I found out why.  I'm sure others here saw this auction--he's got Jedi Luke's hairpiece that was cut with an Exacto knife to look sorta like the stock Dagobah hair piece.  I didn't notice it in the pics until it showed up and I saw the white plastic where the hair piece was cut, as the seller didn't state anything about this being customized in this way in the auction and I just didn't think to look carefully at the hair of the one in the pic.

So, I guess my question to you guys is--do you think I should keep it?  I paid a little less than $40, and that ain't bad at all for Dagobah Luke, but the hairpiece thing is bugging me more and more as I think about it, and I'm not sure if I would be better off without and waiting for another, better eBay opportunity.  A guy at Kubrick Nation sold me a Bespin Luke a couple years back and it had the wrong hairpiece that kept bugging me until I had to get another one.  Thoughts?

Awesome.  I've never been a gambler for the chases, and I mostly wanted this series for the Speeder anyway, so this suits me just fine.

Money saved!! :)

I just saw the BBTS listing and came here to see if there was conflicting information regarding the case ratio breakdown.  Surely, there aren't gonna be 2 Garindan's per case (excuse me, "box" :D ).

I'm a bit bummed at the lack of a chest tampo underneath Luke's poncho.  Looks kind of silly sitting in the Speeder with a white chest block.  And you can't use the Early Bird version, if memory serves, because he's wearing the vinyl-type skirt and can't be taken apart.

Yeah man.  I bought some figures from you, as well, but do feel bad knowing you had to eat so much money trying to acquire the full set for yourself.  Bummer.

I have wondered about that, too.  If memory serves, you could build just Jabba (though not his base) with the 4 more "common" figures.  So at least only the 3 per case figures would give you useless extras that no one could use.  But with the walker, those pieces will never serve any purpose unless a piece breaks or someone wants to build a diorama with wrecked walker parts strewn about the battlefield.  Maybe they could randomly rotate the parts, so you were guaranteed to get a complete BAF in every "box," but the parts that came with 1 per 12 figures in one "box" would come with a 2 or 3 per 12 in another.  At least then folks could make some use of the extra parts they had.  Others would want to buy them, and Walkers would be easier to "army build."

Another alternative would be sticking the 1 pers with non-BAF pieces or, like Jabba, parts that would improve the BAF but are not essential.

I don't know about the process for retailers/distributers, and I don't recall if "gift" was selected or not, but I've never had to pay a customs fee for any package received from another country containing toys/collectibles.

I live in the U.S btw, Mr.Butthead.
