Revenge of the Sith / Re: AT-RT - the walker army-builder

The TRU I went to on MM only had one case of the AT-RT.  They're actually shipping 6 x per case.  I think Hasbro anticipated a high level of demand for these.

I'm officially gone from the RS forums.  I was in contact with Philip, and he said that the emails were a term that had to be agreed upon to use their forums.  So, I opted for voluntary banning so that I won't get their spam.  Hell, I don't need them.

No.  At least not yet.

I didn't even notice.  I was too busy putting Galactus together.

The Bullpen / Marvel Legends

From everything I've seen, it appears that the Legendary Riders series does NOT go together to build a larger character.  I'm actually kind of happy about that.  Had I been given the choice in Series 9, I wouldn't have bought Dr. Strange or Deathlok.  I only got them to build Galactus.  I suppose maybe Marvel realized that these characters wouldn't sell without some kind of incentive like this.

Okay.  I searched through all of my CD singles as well as looking at every single that was listed on Amazon.  No dice with regard to "I got a feeling".  Oh, the dread of buying an import for one song.

So far I've only found it on a Japanese version of Ten, and it's not even properly credited.  It's called "Master/slave".  I hope I can find it on a single instead.  $45 is kind of steep for an album I already own.

My own midnight madness and the ensuing weekend's  experiences do go against the grain of what's been discussed here.  I actually ran across a number of parents with their kids in the stores picking out not only lightsabers, but new figures.  And a lot of the kids knew exactly what they were looking for.  Additionally, I've seen a semi-new class of collector:  parents who are collectors who have gotten their kids into it as well.  I saw at least half a dozen or more of these parent-child teams at Toys R Us that night.  Things like that are definitely a welcome sight.

I've seen the 80% number thrown around in this thread as well.  That number is soft, being more around 70-75%, and there's a big mitigating factor with it as well that has been overlooked.  That statistic is the market  share of collectors for NON-MOVIE YEARS.  That number skews much more in favor of kids during movie years.  I haven't seen hard sales figures on it, but that is indeed the case.

Hasbro does seem to be making some inroads with kids.  The Galactic Heroes line has been gaining some momentum, and  I've seen parents picking these up for kids.  However, one of the biggest sellers for kids is in the roleplay market.  Lightsabers and to a lesser extent blasters are the biggest sellers for Hasbro in the children's demo.

As for the decline in sales from EPISODE I to EPISODE II, there's a big factor that wasn't discussed by anyone in this thread or in the Wall Street Journal for that matter.  The economy.  Shame on WSJ for not even touching on that, because the 1999 economy was a lot stronger than that of 2002.  As a result, individual discretionary spending was lower in that time of economic recession.  People were spending less across the board , and that cut in personal spending has a more drastic affect on non-essential goods like toys and collectibles.  It's not always about the toys, folks.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: "Evolutions" assortment...

I got another tidbit of info from a source today saying that the Second pack will be:

Ep2 Clone Trooper
Ep3 ARC Trooper
Ep4 Sandtrooper

That Ep3 ARC Trooper makes me think that it's the Clone Commander.  The appearance of that figure is so much like the ARC Trooper that I made that connection almost instantly.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: To PG or not PG
« on: April 10, 2005, 04:32 PM »
I googled it first and didn't come up with anything.  You would think that if anything like that came out, it would be with the AP, and that would hit all sorts of news sites.  I'm curious to see what the writer's response will be.  I'd be more interested in seeing what the writer's editor would say about this.  The article wasn't written by Stephen Glass, was it?  ;)

I'll be adding the Ultimate Villain Darth Vader, Emporer Palpatine and General Grievous at some point.  My focus has been on the 3.75 inch line for the time being.

There's also Sio Bibble in EPISODE I, pleading with Amidala saying "You must contact me".  There are also several in ROTS that can be seen on the Trivial Pursuit DVD.  But that might be ***SPOILERIFIC!***

Gotcha.  I just realized where I have it.  It's not the Japanese version of TEN, but from a live bootleg.  Not sure if I want to buy an import version of an album I already own just to get the studio version of one song.  Drat!

I understand why there's no knee articulation on this Mace.  And it's because of the action feature.

That, plus the leg is only half as long as it should have been.  This thing is a stunted little monkey.

Even though the comment is borderline racist, try standing this figure next to some of it's ROTS linemates.  Standing him next to Anakin, he was just about the same height.  Is he out of proportion?  Possibly.
