The Bullpen / Marvel Legends
« on: April 1, 2005, 03:04 AM »
Marvel Legends still needs to touch on the grey Hulk as he appeared before the debut of Mr. Fixit.  While we have a good origin grey Hulk, Mr Fixit, and an Ultimate Universe grey Hulk, I want to see the grey Hulk from when Banner was recombined with the green, savage Hulk.

Here's his signature line at The Jawa, from a PM of mine to him:

Jimmy_'s Jawa Profile (must log in to view it)

Quote
"It's been said that I am...

"the most unhappy, angry, ego-maniacal, and pathetic member of the entire online collecting community (and greater society as a whole)"

My parents would be proud..."

Just a couple little nuggets, from the many.  Yep, he's not thinking about me at all...  :P  The admiration is mutual, James Souza!  My soulmate...   :-*

 :P

Don't drag the Jawa into your tiff with Jimmy_.  Jimmy_ is his own person and hasn't been active with us for about 6 months or more.

I was a little upset to get that spam myself.  I'm surprised and disappointed to see that it erupted into something like this.  Phillip really needs to learn what customer service is.

Frankly, I think that Phillip abused the trust that people placed in his care by sharing email addresses like this.  There should be an express notification AND choice when registering for an account at the RS forums where you can decided whether or not you want to receive promotional offers from that site's business partners.  A lot of websites a lot bigger than RS do this and to their credit it's a good way of doing business.  They understand that their customers want privacy and don't want to be bogged down in spam.  Unfortunately, it seems that Phillip is more interested in money than in the privacy and spam protection of the membership.  Actions like the email that were sent, and his poor handling of criticism related to it are not a good business practice, but even moreso they're not in the spirit of a collecting community.  Shame on Phillip Wise and shame on Rebelscum.

And FYI, I just subtly bombed a thread there to show my displeasure with how Officialpix just snuck in a $5 charge for every photo at the Celebration 3 autograph pavillion.  I guess I'll start counting down to my own banning there now.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Spanish Magazine Scan: Death Star
« on: March 31, 2005, 02:46 AM »
It should certainly be noted that the image everyone's been eying is from The Art Of Revenge Of The Sith, and not the movie itself.  The Death Star as we see it in the movie could be in a less complete state than the way Ryan Church illustrated this image.

As for it taking some time to complete...it's the first time that one is being built.  Building something like that is going to take a considerable ammount of time to engineer.  Building a second one after the first has been completed is going to be a considerably easier task since the actual plan to build the Death Star has been seen through.  Still, I think the second Death Star's construction was well underway when the first was destroyed.

She-Hulk, must make She-Hulk.  Marvel Select convention exclusive coming, but they can do better than that for the rest of us.

I'll definitely be picking up the Marvel Select Shulkie at Wizard World in Philly.  They need to put her in the ML lineup too.

But how could I forget the Blob?  Or Pyro and Avalanche for that matter?  Need to fill out the ranks of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: 500th commemorative figure... Vader?
« on: March 31, 2005, 01:24 AM »
I for one can't believe the level of thought that's going into counting everything up.  Are we all that anal-retentive?  I'm just happy to get the Vader in Meditation chamber, and screw the number.  Is it really THAT important?

No, it's not important at all.  And yes, most of us are that anal-retentive too.  It's just amusing to see how close Hasbro's getting with their number, especially if they're specifically naming something "500".  Plus, we're relatively bored, and a lot of us have OCD, so we thought we'd do the math.  No biggie, Nick.  :-*

Maybe I'm just too busy and occupied with the rest of my life to care about the numbers adding up.  I just want the damn figure, not to rain on anyone's OCD parade.

Exactly.  I mean, do we start including the vintage 3-packs as legit variations?  what about pack-in figures?  It just seems like something of a waste of time unless it's legitimately helpful to people as some way to catalog what they have.

Marvel does seem to be running low on characters for the Marvel Legends line.  These might be some good choices:

AVENGERS
Hercules
Starfox
Yellowjacket
old school gold Iron Man
Scarlet Witch
She Hulk (w/ FF variant)

X-MEN/X-Factor
Thunderbird
Sunfire
Banshee
Storm - original costume
Beast - X-Factor minus blue fur
Cyclops - X-Factor
Jean Grey - X-Factor
Havok
"Days Of Future Past" gift pack

OTHERS
Quicksilver

VILLAINS
Thanos
Modok
Crimson Dynamo
Brood
Sebastion Shaw
Nimrod
White Queen

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Digital Version Longer
« on: March 30, 2005, 04:02 PM »
Daaaaaaamn! I've got my choice of 6 different theatres to go to for the digital version, and all of them are within 20 minutes by subway!  :o

I'm happy about that too.  In 2002 it was just the AMC Empire on 42nd that had AOTC digitally.

Check out DLP's listing of Digital projection location at this page.  It looks like there are a lot more theaters with the equipment now than there were when AOTC was exhibited digitally in 2002.

I have no idea what Eeth Koth was up to.

I believe he was present (offscreen) at Geonosis and was killed there.

Incorrect.  It's an EU question, but Eeth Koth died in the Clone Wars.  I would have to do a little research to tell you that, but it's definitely an EU thing.

SAGA Emporer Palpatine

You need to get Rorrworr and Tarfful into that pic for comparisons sake, Brent.  Tarfful is pretty big in his own right.  Just about as big as the Preview Wookiee, in fact.
