Original Trilogy Collection / Re: Vintage OTC Figures

And I'll be, the Obi-Wan cloth robes actually look GOOD.

Funny, since we were just talking this afternoon about how he was too "poofy" looking.  Of course, that was the loose figure we were discussing.  I'm not real surprised to see that Obi-Wan looks a lot better packaged in the bubble, since the bubble squishes down his poofy cloth robe all nice and snug against him, which I agree looks much better.

But I still think he looks like a giant burnt marshmellow when he's loose.  Might have to find some of that glue folks use, to calm his cloak down just a tad.

I'm still not convinced on the Leia.  I think I need to see her up close and personal to pass final judgement.  Something about her just looks a little off to me.  We'll see.  Still better than most/all of the other ANH Leias though...

I think there might be a non-glue solution to this.  The answer?  A needle and thread.  It might be possible to strategically tie-down the robe to Obi-Wan's body using some thread.

The only new sign of articulation I saw in the Toyfare spread is around C-3PO's midsection.  Right in that area where the wiring trunk meets the upper body is where I think it is.

The new Toyfare shows C-3PO better, but it's not totally clear how he's articulated.

The Nets definitely had heart, but tonight they got their asses handed to them.  They should've won this series at home on Sunday, but they just didn't capitalize on the momentum of last Friday's Triple OT game.  They really need a legitimate big man, and as long as they keep winning, they're not going to get one unless they want to shell out some serious bank.

I wouldn't say that Kidd was completely responsible for the loss.  Everyone in the NBA knows that the Nets live by the fastbreak, and they got shutdown that way.  Plus, they're shooting percentages need to improve.

Byron Scott definitely wasn't adding to the team.  With the Nets success of the past couple of years, it's been the assistant coaches who have carried Byron the entire time.  In the 2002-03 season, it was Eddie Jordan who was pretty much running the team.  This season, it was still the assistants who were running the team.  Kidd ran the team on the floor, and Frank ran the practices.  It took firing Byron Scott for people to realize this.

Please don't.  It's unbecoming.  Although I admit it's rather nifty that we won't have to buy Star Cases for these.

Found it tonight.  It's okay, but I would've rather gotten the Han Solo as a basic figure rather than spend $20 to get that and some other stuff I already have.

I would've preferred a new Qui-Gon, or have something like I did.  I took off Tatooine Qui-Gon's poncho and gave him a Jedi robe, and I think it's one of the best Qui-Gon's I have.

As for the Obi-Wan, I wish they'd used another as well.  Either the Naboo one with the cloak, or the SG one plus a SG cloak.

The other figures are fine.

That's on the clamshell that's holding the card, and not the card itself.

I fish, too.  Not as much lately, but it should be a good summer with my Dad retiring and getting a boat.  I'm looking forward to going for some fluke and bluefish this summer.

Now that's a valkyrie.

Too bad Toddy went back to their old ways of minimal articulation. (As if they ever left.)

But, they're pretty cool anyway.

This is like a nerd fantasy gone horribly wrong, but in kind of a gross way.  :o

I know it way too well.  And the reality?  Ray Lewis is one of the most sought after players in all of Sports Picks, the same as Urlacher.

Actually, it looks like we're going to get a new model Jedi Starfighter.  As for the Clone Troopers, I think we might see a new helmet design based on the Insider article.

I didn't really take issue with the X-Men box set.  There are different head sculpts on Wolverine and Magneto, Beast has all of his accessories, Gambit has a different accessory set, and Rogue is all new.  The Urban Legends set bothers me more, since all it was were 3 repaints and the Punisher with different accessories.

Jeez, how did I miss this thread today?  Hey, do we have any Houston area JDer's out there?  I'm jonesing for that Clemens/Bagwell Fan Fest set!

The NFL 8 figures definitely look nice.  But once again, there isn't a single defensive player.  I've known the lineup for a while, but it still irks me that McFarlane won't give guys who play D their props.  Defensive players have been some of the best selling of the NFL line.

Still need to go back and get a Vader too, the collection doesn't look right without one :).

I also need to pick up Vader.  I have the one with the helmet on with the bridge/steps but I need the helmet off one with the rock(at least I think it's a rock).  I am also glad though, about the re-release of Leia as she was packed in with rock Vader and were either underproduced or sold extremely well.

The Vader is actually posed in what looks like the base of his meditation chamber.
