Liev Schreiber should be worlds better at the Sabretooth character than Tyler Mane.  At the very least he could act circles around Mane.  And while Sabretooth had always been a physically imposing adversary for Wolverine in the comics, there was always a lot more going on in their conflict.  It was personal.  Sabretooth knew how to get under Wolverine's skin.  And that's much more interesting to me than just seeing Wolverine fight Sabretooth.  It's the personal conflict that makes the fight that much more compelling.

I heard that it's so cold in Fargo, ND right now that if you went outside the moisture in your eyes would freeze within a few minutes.

That's hilarious!  I'd love to see it!!  Not sure what state you're from my friend, but I'm not far away from Fargo and my eyes haven't frozen over yet - and I'm a smoker (which means I have to do that dirty deed outside)

That was a report from one of my co-workers.

I went to college in northern NY and at times it was unbearably cold.  I've dealt with temperatures as low as -27 fahrenheit without even factoring in the windchill.  I've felt my nostrils freeze up.  I've begun to feel my legs stiffen.  And tears freezing in the eyelashes.  It's basically a situation where you just can't have any exposed skin outside and you have to wear 3 layers of clothes as a rule.

Finally got the last couple of figures I needed from the TLC wave.  Had to use the Target DCPI trick to get that to happen.  If only that would work for the TOD wave.

That does look VERY sweet. I'm hoping that they make it so the new Clone Wars Magna Guard can fit in the cockpit.

I'm more curious to see if the ROTS Grievous Bodyguard droids will fit in the cockpit.  I haven't put any of my CLONE WARS animated figures into my vehicles.

I think that what would really make the image of the Super Vulture Droid a little more informative is if there was a figure or something else in the image.  That would at least give it a sense of scale.

TV-9D9 / Re: Star Wars: The Clone Wars Series Discussion Thread
« on: December 13, 2008, 03:08 PM »
I think so far that "The Lair of General Grievous" was by far the best episode of the series.  It shows some of the divisions within the Jedi.  The effort to destroy the Jedi by Dooku setting the trap.  The treachery of the Sith in testing one their so-called allies.  I think it was one of the best crafted stories I've seen.  And when I saw that the Lucasfilm people went to one of the premier Japanese anime writers/directors to help put this episode together?  I was really impressed.  The episode had some of that darkness that's present in anime.

Other Collectibles / Re: Hasbro Force FX Lightsabers

I finally saw the Hasbro packaged versions of these at a mom & pop shop.  But when you can score them online from WalMart for $50 it's tough to pay full price...even if it's $20 lower than most of regular retail.

It's looking very cool!  Certainly more detailed than I had been expecting.  I'd really like to see it with a figure so that I can get a sense for it's scale.

Very cool.  I'm wondering if Hasbro has tried to make this new Vulture droid so that it has a cockpit.  They engineered the Homing Spider Droid that way.  I'm assuming it's for more play value.  That's not totally movie accurate, but it makes for something of a more interesting toy.

I actually made some pretty good finds at KayBee over the years.  Scored my Collector's Fleet Executor there which turned out to be a HUGE find.  Also got quite a bit of my Action Fleet collection there and at decent prices, too.

It's definitely unfortunate to see this happen, but not totally unexpected.  The retail landscape has gotten a lot more competitive.  And the rising price in our collecting bread and butter - basic figures - has no doubt hit KayBee harder.  Their slightly higher prices were a lot more easy to stomach when TRU or Target was charging $5.99 a figure and KayBee was at $6.99 a figure.  Now that those chains are up to $6.99 or $7.99 a figure, KayBee's $9.99 price just isn't acceptable.

The negative for us as collectors is that we have fewer places to shop.  And that in turn means less competition for our retail dollars.  That could certainly have a negative affect on the hobby.  But the flipside of that is how much of an impact was there when Suncoast went out?  For Hasbro or any toy manufacturer to lose a retail outlet in malls is serious.  But in the grand scheme of things it's only 250+ outlets when there are probably over 2,000 outlets between Target and WalMart alone.
