Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Goodbye KB Toys

Aren't indoor malls going away too. They seem to be replaced by outdoor garden walk-type malls with lots of restraunts, walmart and teenage girl-type stores.

Not in the Northeast.  The weather just isn't conducive to doing that.

The writing has been on the wall for this for some time.  There used to be about 12 or more KayBee stores within a half an hour's drive of me up until a few years ago.  Now there's only 3 or 4.  The chain has gotten decimated because they couldn't compete price-wise with the big box stores.  Add in significant overhead because of their presence in shopping malls.  And the current economic climate is severe enough that a good number of retail chains have already gone under this year.

I still miss places like Child World and Toy & Sports Warehouse too, but they've gone the way of the dodo.  And now KayBee will as well.

Glad to see the update about this wave.  Although I think that Beru and Owen could be in either an AOTC or ROTS wave.  Personally I think Beru looked better in ROTS and I'd want that version first.

Update from Hasbro regarding the wave breakdown for 2009 prompted by the question at Han's Hideout last week.

Quote
To clarify, the 2009 basic figure order looks like this: Spring consists of EpIV (8 figures), EpV (6 figures), EpII (6 figures), and EpVI (8 figures). Fall will see four waves: EpIV (8 figures), EpI (6 figures), EpIII (6 figures), and EpV (6 figures) for a total of 54 figures. A 9th wave, the EU wave (6 figures), has slipped to be on-shelf right now around late Dec/early Jan so we are not counting that in the 2009 count, unless we are able to bring that one back in.

So where did that come from?  I didn't see it posted at Hasbro's site.

I have 4 Fambaas.  I should probably sell a couple off.  Although the pack-in Gungan is one of the best Gungans to date.

But Hasbro mentioned something about the Eopie in the Q&A sessions recently.  It might be in the works for the CLONE WARS line based on what I read.  Although it would be too cool to get an Eopie with Obi-Wan, infant Luke along with Beru & Owen Lars.

I remember seeing the name on some rumor lists.  But 2 Ugnaughts in the space of a year?  Hmmm.

I don't doubt any of the figures you're citing Rune.  Just having a little fun. ;D

I think they're all very likely given the responses from Hasbro in the Q&A sessions.  I just don't know if they're all going to be offered in the same wave.  Plus we've seen a trend in there being some kind of hero anchoring each wave.  Mace has yet to appear in an episode, but he's in some preview video that's circulating online.  He could very well be the anchor for wave 6.

I don't know if a tauntaun would be a great choice right now.  Hasbro just offered up a tauntaun in 30AC packaging via TRU that's still on shelves now.  I think that current presence might slide a retooled tauntaun back on the schedule.

I could see a new Dewback with Sandtrooper via a battle pack though.  And I think that the rumors of a new or retooled Stormtrooper might be related to that.  The current Stormtrooper/Sandtrooper molds don't really allow the figure to sit properly on the POTF2 dewback.  But retooling that figure with ball jointed hips would make it work.  The thing is, would this excite collectors a lot?  I don't honestly know.  I see a lot of older collectors getting a little tired with retreading ground despite some great breakthroughs in sculpting and articulation.

But I think that a companion beast oriented battle pack from the Prequels would be a cool choice.  Anyone else recall the rumor of the Mustafar lava flea and rider?  I think that might be a really interesting offering for a modern beast pack that's totally new.  Will it happen?  Time will tell.

I loved those boarding craft...  Very cool concept/design idea.  Maybe one of the neater aspects of that episode I thought.

They've had that vehicle or one that's very similar in at least 3 episodes now.  It made one of the Malevolence episodes, "Rookies" and now "Cloak of Darkness".  It's making that ship one of the better candidates for the vehicle line.  It's certainly had more appearances so far than the Y-Wing and maybe even the Clone shuttle.
