Episode 1 / Re: Which figures are you still missing?
« on: January 21, 2003, 02:19 PM »
I collect both carded and loose (of everything), and am only missing one Battle Amidala (w/ ascension gun) now.  I was also missing the Eopie w/ Qui-Gonn up until last week, but a buddy of mine just found one for me during a business trip to Japan - MIMSB for less than $15 (U.S. version)!!!  Unbelievable!  Thanks Jared, you're the man!!!

EDIT:  The Eopie is now IN-HAND!  It's beautiful...  I can't even say thanks enough Jared!  I totally appreciate it!

Saga '02-'04 / Dodonna AND Antilles win Fan Choice! It's a miracle!!
« on: January 21, 2003, 01:54 PM »
Holy bajeezus!  We're going to be getting a General Dodonna and a Captain Antilles!  That is unbelievably awesome - especially for us "old schoolers"!  I think it was an incredibly cool move on Hasbro's part to decide to issue both of these ANH Rebels, even though technically Antilles won by 9 votes.

If there indeed were some type of voting irregularities, which I still contend was likely the case despite Hasbro's explanation, all I've got to say is GOOD JOB to the fella who calculated out a virtual TIE, and I wish you all the best in future polls as well.  I saw someone mention this elsewhere - perhaps next time we can get a five way tie at 20% each and get ALL 5 of the choices!   :)

If the poll was legit, then a big high five to all of the fellow fans and collectors out there who caused this "miracle of figure birth" to come about!  Though I wanted Dodonna to win and voted for him, I really wanted both of these figures to be made, so I'm in heaven right now!

The question is whether they'll be released together in a 2-pack, or on separate cards.  I tend to think that Hasbro might find a way of putting them in a "Rebel Heroes" 2-pack, just to keep the "Fan Choice Figure(s)" award label in one place.  And just as an FYI, these two characters wear virtually identical outfits in ANH, other than their coats and helmet, so there shouldn't be any RFT rehashes here.

I'm curious which coat Dodonna will come with - the long trenchcoat from the end ceremony scene, or the more regular looking flight jacket that he's got on throughout the final battle scene (don't recall which he was wearing in the planning scene).  I'd prefer the trenchcoat myself, especially since it will differentiate him a little more from the Antilles figure.

Well, however the whole thing went down, I'm one happy dude 'cause I got the best of both worlds!  Unfortunately, now we've got to play the waiting game for well over a year before we get these two, but I suppose I can be patient.  At least we'll get that cool looking Concept Stormtrooper in the meantime to tide us over...

Oh dear.  I hope GNT doesn't see this or he might be likely to run another 10,000 post campaign around here!   ;D

Maybe the top spot could be something even a little more exciting, like Yoda...?

Credit goes to Real Scooby for pointing out this picture and link.  I loved the games, relatively enjoyed the first movie, and dig Angelina - she's the perfect Lara Croft.  Looking forward to seeing what's in store for the second go round.  Check out the other 6 or 7 pictures here:

Bummer RJP, I was hoping I could help you out here, but it looks like you're mostly trying to catch up on the older stuff that's no longer available at retail, huh?  I probably have some extras of what you're looking for, at least the green carded stuff, but it's all tucked away in storage at the moment.  The Mrs. and I are looking to move into a new house in the next couple months, at which time I'll be able to go through all of the old boxes of extra goodies, so maybe I'll check back in with you at that time.

In the meantime, if there's anything currently out at retail that you're having a tough time tracking down, let me know, and I'll keep an eye out for it for you (and would obviously pass it along to you for retail cost if I found it).

As for me, the only current stuff I can't seem to find are the Trash Compactor 2-packs (2 of each one), a couple Ephant Mons, and two Deluxe Clonetroopers w/ Speederbike.  That's it.  If you come across any of those, and have "a few" extra bucks on you at the time, I'd totally appreciate you snagging them for me and we could then meet up somewhere at your convenience.  I'll give you a buzz (and/or just update my trading thread here) to let you know if I get lucky and find any of these myself in the interim.  Thanks!

BTW, I went to school and lived up in Santa Barbara for 8 years.  I love it there!   :)

Saga '02-'04 / Super Pooper Anakin with Swoop Bike...
« on: January 18, 2003, 01:53 AM »
You've seen the new boxed pix of Anakin's Swoop by now, so what do you think?

I think the swoop looks quite nice - very movie accurate, aside from one thing: that stupid seat belt!  I realize what it's purpose is obviously, but none of the other Speeder Bikes or Swoops have had them, and their respective riders stayed mounted for the most part with no problems.  Oh well, I guess it's nothing a pair of scissors or an exacto knife can't fix...

As for the Anakin figure, probably not even worth wasting my time commenting on that craptastic super-duper-pooper-trooper!  I mean, he is in the pooping action stance, is he not?  Pretty similar to the recent Deluxe Force Flipping Anakin.  Then there's the obvious omission of Anakin's cloak, which he's wearing on his Swoop ride towards his date with his Darkside destiny.  Not to mention the lightsaber (possibly dedicated?) and the always useful "Lightsaber Slashing Attack" for your late evening Swoop cruise around the desert.  Ugh...  This one's just brutal.  Why even put the figure in there in the first place if they're going to go about it like this...?

But like I said, the Swoop looks excellent!   :)

Oh boy, I'm a sucker for the Hotties out there, so my list might be a lengthy one, but for the moment, I'll definitely reiterate Scott's first three choices there, but with Shania at the top of my list!  I'll return later with some more though...

BTW, women of this board (of which I know there's at least 2 at this point), this thread isn't meant to be sexist, so please don't be offended.  In fact, feel free to start up your own HOT BEEF CAKES thread...  :)  I can send you a picture of myself to include, if you'd like!   ;)

You need to asterisk or footnote the new ones Scott, so I can more easily decipher where your money's been going in the past week or two!   ;)

Saga '02-'04 / Re:Fan's Choice Figure Poll
« on: January 16, 2003, 07:21 PM »
Eeegads!  That's way too close!  I hope the poll's not getting hacked again, like it seems to every time in the last week or so...  Dodonna should be out in front by a landslide!  What is everyone thinking?  Don't they all realize that I want a Dodonna, and have for about 25 years?!  Sheesh.  Come on folks, help a fella out here!

Antilles can easily be customized, if need be.  Ditto for the Wookie senator.  We'll get a handmaiden at some point, without a doubt (probably Padme), so no use in voting for Rabe.  And that Quadineros freak can be found on any number of Saturday morning cartoon shows, I'm sure.

So what have we all learned from JediMAC's little lesson in Fan Figure voting here?

That's right:  Vote forGeneral Dodonna all the way (or else)!!!  'Nuff said.
