To me having never read or heard of the graphic novel before, the Watchmen movie just looks weird and random. Nothing looks recognizable and I have no idea what the plot would be. I don't see it as being a commerical success since the general movie goer doesn't know who these super heros are.

Might be a good idea to actually read the graphic novel. Just a thought.

After listening to the album for the past few days, I'd have to say this was decent. That's all I can call it, decent. It wasn't a complete failure, but it probably could've been (excuse the pun) better. It feels a bit too long, with too many ballads. I think cutting 4-5 of the ballads and having this be a nice, lean, 9-10 song album would've benefitted it greatly. My favorite tracks would proably have to be the title track, Shackler's Revenge, Better, There Was A Time, and Riad N' The Bedouins. I must say, Sorry is good for the comedic value. Gotta love the Mexican vampire accent.

Good job, Axl.

Picked up my copy of Chinese Democracy at Best Buy earlier today. I agree with the more Illusion than Destruction sentiments, and overall, I like it.

I picked up an Isaac Asimov collection of short stories.

Good choice. You can't go wrong with Asimov.

Venom, Welcome To Hell

"Come hear the moon is calling,
The witching hour draws near,
Come hear the bell is tolling,
Mortals run in fear,
Hold fast the sacrifice,
Prepare the altar now and hear the virgin cry,
All hell breaks loose,
For now it's the time to die,

Unveil the pentagram,
Hell's breaking loose.
Come watch the holy men,
And feel the heat of satan's breath,
And feel the demons lust,
Come taste blood,
Who look on in disgust,
Look in the sky's and see,
The warriors of death,
All hell breaks loose,

Hell's breaking loose,
Our work is now complete,
Witching hour."

On an unrelated note, can't wait to pick up Chinese Democracy on Sunday.  :)

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Who's your favorite band?
« on: November 20, 2008, 02:51 PM »
My favorite genre is metal/hard rock, and my favorite band would have to be Led Zeppelin. Runner ups would be Metallica, Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden, The Beatles, Slayer, Priest, Sabbath, Megadeth, bands along those lines. I also like a little alternative rock and blues.
