Star Wars Action Figures / Re: Glassman's Customs - Me as Revan pg.18
« on: December 30, 2007, 11:30 PM »
I've made 2 star wars customs this year!!  The first was a custom madalorian warrior which i will post as soon as the person i sent it to receives it. He may post it before i do.

Well my second is one i have wanted to do for years. Since I finished KOTOR and made a batch of figures for the game I wanted a Darth revan with a sculpt of my face underneath.
As those of you who played the game know, You are Revan.

Using my "Patented-Make almost any helmet removable without dremeling them to death" technique, I made a removable Revan mask. I added packing rubber band to it to make it like a hockey mask. How I do it, is here.

I finally got off my butt and sculpted my likeness at 3 3/4" scale. I'm not completely pleased with it but i only put about 4 -5 hours into it so it'll do for now. I've posted my face here before in a group project thread where i made a 12" version of me with colabo help from Bantha5.

Of course now i have a likeness of me at this scale, i will be sticking my head on everything...  :o   Stormtooper, Jedi, Pilot, Imperial officer... and whatever else i can think of.

That head does look like Daniel Craig. What head is that?

A golden compass action figure?  Most likely.

In regards to the water jug engines, yeah they are kind of hard to disguise.  I've been sort of thinking about what to replace them with.

What about, V8 fusion juice bottles. First the Juice rocks, and its good for you, and it has that shape of rocket engines without the handles.  That being said, any bottle without the handles. I think that is what stands out the most is the handles on the jugs.

Man i have to second that the details in this really do it for me.
I love the passenger bunks and the bathrooms. I wondered what
happend on those long space flights if somone had to go.

I would go back and add some of that attention to the "water jugs" engines.
They stand out as what they are, bottles. Adding some bits and pieces would camoflague them
some more.

Extremely creative. Great work.

Nice card Phruby. I would have love to see this hanging in the store as part of the VTAC line.

I dont think you know how much i love it when you do star wars customs.
I love this ship! And i love your pilot even more. Every detail is great, even down to
the navi screen in the cockpit.
Is that your 6" concept R2 that you made a while back?  I like the scale of him here.
He's a big bulky rusty Trusty robot.  Fantastic stuff.

But don't stop submitting to the Alliance, just know that your work won't get put up right away -

Thats just what i did. I used to feel the same frustration. I understand dan has a real life outside customizing, but in my opinion, it has always been like that. When i joined there in 2003-ish, it took him a year just to add my page. i bugged him a few times and was told, it would be up soon, after a year, i told him to just tell me if my page will never go up, so i can stop looking for it. It finally did but I figured that i would never get updated so after my first batch, i never submitted anything again.
What i did do, as JJ suggested, I made my own site.

But in dans defense, i can barely make the time to update my own site, let alone the hundreds and hundreds of other peoples customs he gets each year.

So thanks to him, i have my own site. even if it hasnt been updated in 6 months and counting!

Your Scorch looks great. At first i didnt realize it was on a micro body.

I remember when you started this, you were making casts of the scorch armor... is that what you ended with, or is
this hollowed hasbro and not a hollowed cast? Turned out perfectly either way.

Great work and Happy belated birthday!

I've used some GE-Silicone-II in the past in a squeeze-tube actually.

Before i got into RTV and other pourable silicones, GE's caulk is what i used. I've made mention of it before when folks were looking for cheap alternatives. My Kenny Baker was cast from a Ge Mold, as well as my first coins i made for Droids Boba, C3p0 and R2.  So its a good substitue.

As awsome as that is i bet it doesnt have a working droid vaccum to suck up R2!!
That is amazing, I contimplated having a scale falcon built. If i ever move to a bigger house and have money to spend...  :'(
Then i'll buy one.

She's very nice paul.  Could you use a black baloon for the bikini she wears?  Thats the only thing that i think needs adjustment.
As it is, her top just looks stuck on, like an afterthought.

glycerine, readily available in walmart's pharmacy.

This doesnt sound cheap and easy anymore... By the time you do all this, arent you pretty much paying what the rtv/silicone costs?

I dont know cause i have not used this method, but i have used a hot glue gun for lots of other stuff. So if it works for you Rolla do your thing. I just think by the time you get the glue gun, sticks, glycerine, you could of spent $26 for RTV.

But i cant argue with the ease of your method, it has to be easier than the RTV process. But i think the RTV will yield way better results... ya dig?
