Yeah, the zombie geonosian is indeed cool. He's just got so much personality in that void expression. Also digging Cato, the more hunters the better. Does anyone else think the orange clone in that photo is holding a boombox and listening with headphones? I know it's a bazooka, but the way it's positioned, that's what I always see when I look at it.

I can't wait for Evezan and Bom, been far too long since the last cantina offerings, so I'm hoping these guys'll be a little sooner than late 2011. These two are, for me, the last two must haves for the cantina. I'll buy any and all new ones they come out with, but if these were the last two, i'd be happy.

These are pretty great, most exciting new thing shown at Celebration V to me. Pilots and astromechs, what could be better. Also good to see that ti's not all orange flight suit pilots, I could use a little more variety in the hanger bay.

These figures are all really nicely done, great sculpting, but also very boring to me personally. I'll be looking forward to Zam, and maybe the senate guard but not much else.

Great that they're getting these out again. Now if they could just find some way to refresh the Red Leader astromech I'll be a very happy camper.

How sad is it that nearly 2 years into the line, digital river still can't handle something as simple as an address change? Bozos sent my monthly figure to my old pre move address despite my changing it a month in advance and receiving an email confirmation that the changes had been made in their system.. Sigh.

The only good thing about including K-3PO in this pack of otherwise army builders is that he's white, which makes him a very easy repaint into any number of different colored protocol droid. That's what I'll probably end up doing with mine.

Mishandling aside, I think by the time it's finished we'll have a nice little set of movie figures (not counted the concept and comic stuff) which is a pretty good little run for a movie line full of main character variants. It's definitely one of my favorite movie lines of this year.

TV-9D9 / The death or disappearance of Ahsoka?
« on: August 6, 2010, 09:22 PM »
So since she's never seen or mentioned, and the trailer for season 3 heavily implies that something is going to happen to her, what do you all think will be the case? Who do you suppose will do her in? Or maybe she survives and goes on to knighthood and is just away fighting in another galaxy when the events of ROTS happen and may become a victim of order 66? Thoughts/theories?

I think a series with background characters would work just fine, since they would cease to be just background characters as we got to know them through the course of the series, the main cast from the OT would end up the background characters for this series. What makes me iffy on this idea is that Lucas is writing the scripts himself is he not? If he's actually accepting some help and suggestions this time around or outlining the ideas to a writing team and letting them iron them out then I can see this working, but if not, we may get lots of great dialogue like the romance from AOTC. Lucas is a great idea man, but I'm not so sure about his writing skills.

I do hope this turns out someday, though I'd almost like to see the whole premise scrapped though and replaced with something completely different. It always seems to be the tiny timeframe starting with the PT and ending with the OT, why not do something fresh. Whole new time period, whole new cast, the works. Why not instead of a long time ago in a galaxy far away they make it a long long long long time ago in a galaxy far away or fairly recently in a galaxy far away. That'd be neat, and less likely to retcon a bunch of events from the films.

The reason the new 3PO is kind of appealing to me is because I don't really care much for the vac metal look. I find a lot of the little details get lost in the shiny.

As for Han, still haven't picked him up, but I'm thinking when I do I'm gonna display him with the welding mask on and just look at him as a Hoth technician or something generic like that. I was ho-hum on this figure before I realized he came with the mask, but I love that they included it. Makes him much more unique than, Hoth Han with open coat.

The Vintage Collection / Re: Better "Toys" Vintage or Modern?

I wasn't born till later in the game so I missed the Star Wars vintage bandwagon growing up, but the figures I did have were things like Ninja Turtles and He-Man. Articulation never even came into play with me, it was always about imagination , so with me and my group of friends I'd say articulation wasn't important at all. I don't think it matters that much to my kid brothers either, a toy is a toy with them, they're just happy to have something. They can have just as much fun playing with a static happy meal toy as a fully articulated one.

I collect this line mostly cuz I dig the techno fantasy theme, and cuz I like the designs. i don't necessarily need to know a character to enjoy them (Optikk for example, is pretty fun, even though I know nothing of the character), thus far there hasn't been much that hasn't piqued my interest, though as they get more and more obscure that may change. I don't mind a little POP and NA, the cooler looking ones like the Mutants and Horde dudes are great in my book, and a few of the heroic characters like Bow (who turned out awesome). On that note, I'm pretty much down for any and all of the villains, they're so much cooler visually than the heroes when you compare the two factions.

I think it's funny, but I didn't buy it. 40$ is just too much for me right now and I don't want the extra Skeletor anyway. if Mo-Larr had come single carded I'd be all over it though.

That's one of the things I liked about the original KOTOR. Despite it still being a highly technological era, it still seemed a bit primitive compared to the time of the PT or OT. A lot of the war droids looked pretty clunky. You had astromechs like T3 who looked a bit more dated than the R2 series. A lot of people ran around with vibroblades and whatnot for weapons, nothing says less advanced than a regular looking sword. When i played through those games it was very believable that this was taking place in a time period 1000-2000 years before the PT/OT era. Some really neat concepts and designs came out of there.
