Vintage Kenner / Re: Vintage vs Modern
« on: November 29, 2005, 12:24 AM »
I have actually gone the other way latetly.  I have collected vintage since i was 5, and never cared for much of the new stuff.  You guys over in the Kubricks thread and Unleashed have sucked me in.  I bought a few of the ROTS figs and all the exclusives, and as the hang on my wall next to my wintage I ask myself ...why? Aside from Kubricks and Unleashed, VIntage is soooooo much better. It has been said already but there is no rush involved, and almost no gas money. It's almost like waiting on a fine wine....aka Ebay. You watch for what you want, if it doesn't fit your standards....just wait, it WILL be back.

You have to pick a focus. This is soemthing I never did, and regret it.  I like my collection, but it is just scattered everywhere. I have loose figs, loose ships, loose playsets, boxed this and that, sealed and opened, and it just doesn't fit.  Now I am selling some of my stuff to try and get a rutt going.

Be vary wary of UK. I have gotten so many fake weapons from there I could puke. I have also heard just like the guys above of reseals sold as "vintage".

Also one other thing, and I don't know if anyone else here has noticed, but in the last few years it seems like SEALED stuff has been drying up. Alot of big money collectors are bying this stuff and putting it a vault or something.  It is getting expensive and hard to find. AFA isn't helping either. So if you wanting to get into that it would be good to do that first. Just my opinion on that one.

Hope we all help and good luck.

well i am kinda leary about bying a sealed box myself now. it seems like everyone that got a MC got there chases in the same spot. i would be worried that someone would send one of the two boxes that had nothing. what do you guys think??

I with you guys on walrus going up. people will eventually figure out he is just as hard to find.

i give up trying to get anything on ebay. these people are nuts!! :o  I really like the guy from japan selling one figure with $20 shipping. the sellers are as bad as the bidders. did you see the cantina band member for BIN $15 and $20 shipping. with 25 available i don't think thats the way to push things out the door. imho.  ;D

Your probably right, I'd say $100 is a good round insanely high number.  It would be nice if people would just wait and see how scarce they are before running up the prices, but o well!

I noticed that one too. The other snag is off and running with bids. How high will they go no Ebay bidder will know

Ya, thats awsome you got 2 of the 3. I have a sneeky suspicion they really limited the blue snag. It looks like its over $20 on ebay already.

well so much for getting a blue snag. if they are 1 to 12 it will be tuff to get one.

i think picking these up kinda early might be smart. secondary marcket could push the chases out of sight. so far just the han has been up, and one went for $34.99 plus shipping.

There is just so many lukes on ebay already, i thought there must be 3 to a box. some guy has 6 i think already up. there is also yodas and imperial gunners. maybe snags are only 1 to a box. the blue snag might be more rare than indiana and logray. just speculation though.

Anyone get a count on how many of each in a box?? Obviously luke comes quite a few to a box, since there are a few on ebay already.
If I had to take a GUESS it would be:

Luke-3
Yoda-2
Leia-1
Ackbar-1
Imperial Gunner-2
Snaggletooth-3

Sounds good right??

I LOVE Ebay bidders. Check out those Early Birds that just went today. Some dude just won 3 of the 4 for a total of 136.00 w/ shipping. ;D That makes me laugh. No logic at all.
I am still waiting for somebody to bid on those ridiculously priced Rebo Band figs. Just you wait, believe me someone will do it. ::)
