Do they have Hooters in Europe? :D

Somehow I don't think there's a Hooters in Leicester Square.

Nope, the only one in the UK is in Nottingham.

Do the wild rabbits who live in my back yard count?  I feed them.  I'd name them if I could tell them apart.

I plan on flying out Wednesday and leaving Saturday morning unless I can't get a flight into Appleton, WI by noon.  Then I'll have to catch a late flight out Friday night to Milwaukee.  I am hoping Thursday will have some autographing going on as that is my favorite part.
They'd better have autographing on Thursday!  I'm not planning to stay past Saturday, and that's my favorite part too.  :)

I don't see why they wouldn't - C3 started on a Thursday and almost all the guests were there signing autographs the first day IIRC.  I am a little worried about missing someone good if they decide to only come on Saturday or Sunday, but that's a chance I'll just have to take I guess.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Tattoos -- Love 'Em or Hate 'Em?
« on: August 30, 2006, 10:09 AM »
I have a small (1" high x 3/4" wide) tattoo of an ankh on my left shoulder.  I don't regret getting it, but I do wish two things - 1) that I'd gotten it slightly larger and b) that I'd gone to a more talented artist.

The design is blue and is supposed to make the ankh look like it's metal, but it always just looked kind of mottled instead.  Plus the black outline of the design has faded somewhat so while it's still recognizable, it's not at all as nice as I'd like.  I've though about trying to have it covered, but I don't know how easy that is to do and I'd hate for it to end up looking even worse.

As for women with tattoos, I'm OK with it.  I'm not a fan of the boob tat, or the navel tat though because those are the two I see aging the least gracefully.  I'm also not a fan of a girl with large and/or multiple tats.  I have a friend who has several (maybe 6?) small tats in discrete locations and they don't look bad, but a large design on a fore arm, back or shoulder is not for me.

I have another friend who did one of the dumbest things I could possibly imagine.  She had a huge crush on a baseball player, so after one game she had him sign her shoulder and the next day she got the signature tattooed onto her shoulder.  ::)  Needless to say, the following season the guy was traded to another team and the season after that he retired.  I'm not sure how she feels about that tattoo any more, but she's happily married now, so I guess it wasn't too much of an issue.

If you do decide to go through with it, tamidala, make sure you find a really good artist and a design you're completely happy with.

ETA: I like the idea of a blacklight tattoo.  If I were to get one, I'd combine it with with a traditional tattoo though.  For example, get a tattoo of Luke holding a lightsaber hilt, and then get the blade of the saber tattooed in blacklight ink.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Comic Book Thread
« on: August 24, 2006, 04:02 PM »
I watched Jeopardy! last night and it's the High School tournament I believe.  One of the catagories in the first round dealt with Marvel comics characters.  The players had to identify by sight as well as clue:

$200 - Iron Man
$400 - Bruce Banner as the Hulk's alter ego
$600 - (I can't remember)
$800 - Thor
$1000 - Hawkeye

Of the five answers, only Thor came easily.  None of them knew Bruce Banner is the Hulk. I think the kid who guessed Iron Man only got it because Alex mentioned it was also a famous triathalon.  The clue for Hawkeye mentioned that his name was also the nickmane for Iowa, which caused one kid to guess he was, "The Hoosier"  ::)

What the heck, don't kids in high school read comic books any more?

“We’re basically going to do The Phantom Menace”, says Lucas (stay with him here, he’s making a point). “People’s expectations are way higher than you can deliver. You could just get killed for the whole thing…We would do it for fun and just take the hit with the critics and the fans...But nobody wants to get into it unless they are really happy with it”.

What a freaking cop-out.  It's not impossible to make  Indiana Jones 4 a good movie.  Maybe for the hack Lucas has become it is, but not for someone with talent.  Sure, if you have Indy team up with a talking kangaroo and make endless poop and pee-pee jokes, it's going to suck, so DON'T DO THAT!

Just make a good movie.  Not one that you think your kids would have giggled at when they were 10, but one that is true to the character and mythos of Indiana Jones.

Quote
“We’ll have to go back to that original MacGuffin and take out the offending parts of it and we’ll still use that area of the supernatural do deal with it”.

Who are they afraid of offending?  The American Family Values coalition?  Those nutjobs are offended by everything.  On the other hand, if you're afraid that you'll offend the fans by revealing that Indy is actually a robot powered by demonic bacteria, then yeah, you should take that part out.

I'll tell ya, it does not bode well when a filmmaker starts hedging his bets and making excuses a year before production even begins.
