Well looks like Im not going to Fan Club Day at Celebration 4. I was waiting for the outcome of this before I bought my stupid subscription. Now knowing Grandpa Munster gets a cut I won't be buying that ****.
How could Wise get a cut of the subscription money?  I thought he got some sort of perk if people subscribed using the link Dustin provided, but I don't know that it was monetary, was it?  I waited until after the "contest," but before the announcment to subscribe so I'd be able to go to Fan Club Day at C4, so I don't feel like I supported Dustin or Wise in any way.

Also, for those of you cancelling, or considering cancelling, your subscriptions, does the FC even offer a refund for cancelled subs?  I understand you're trying to make a point, but why cheat yourself out of $40 when, ultimately, no one at the FC is going to give a rat's derriere?

I went and saw Shannon's little boy Aidan this evening.  He won the BHC Survior game at GH and received a couple of packages today so we took them over to him.  He was doing very well -- was very excited to open up all of his Star Wars goodies.  Kids are really amazing.  He's had his moments -- but he was very affectionate and very happy tonight.  I just wanted everyone to know that he's doing okay. :)  I feel so much better now that I've seen him again.

You know, after reading this, it almost seems like fate had a hand in Aidan winning the Survivor game this time around.  So glad he's doing OK and that the Star Wars goodies are helping him cope in such a difficult time.

I'm also glad that Shannon had such a wonderful friend by her side at the end, Tamidala.  I'm sure your presence was a tremendous comfort to her.

Rest well, Princess, you will be missed, but never forgotten.

They don't ship badges do they?  I thought you had to line up to get your badge.

Secondly, the abrasive, non constructive, foul language laced, accusational message you've plopped into our forums does nothing positive what so ever but fill my PM box with complaints.

Accusational?   ???

I guess he would've made a good president.

The only exclusive I'm looking for for myself is the 501st trooper.  Otherwise I'm picking up the following for folks over at GH who can't make it:

Additional 501sties
Sideshow Anakin
GentleGiant Bust/Bust-Up (if I'm lucky)
Some kind of Masters of the Universe statue

And I think that's it so far.

Nope.  Not a single person on their guest list I want to see.   :(  This'll be the first time in... five years I think, that I've skipped it - I only live an hour and a half from Philly.

I think people should e-mail the folks in charge of this contest a link to the Dustin for President thread at RS, so they can see not only what dicks the RS staff are being about it, but how it has divided the SW fan community, not to mention how much people detest Hyperwaste.   Maybe then we won't have to sit through this crap again next year.

I've always wanted to read Watership Down. Loved the animated film. I think you just put that on my must list.

Cool!

In case the following quote gets deleted from Dustin's thread, which I'm not paranoid enough to believe it will:

You know what I wonder?  If the whole title of "Fan Club President" wasn't part of this contest, if the prize was simply a free trip to SDCC and a bag of SW tchotchkes, would USC or Dustin have tried so hard to win?  Everyone talks about USC's diabolical agenda, but I find it hard to believe Dustin would have flown all the way to Dallas to sell subscriptions just for a free trip to San Diego and a handful of collectibles.  He probably would have put the money spent on that trip towards his trip to San Diego.

Obviously, despite the "honorary" status of the title, it brings with it at least a bit of an ego boost for the winner, which is fine and that's probably at least part of the reason this race was run so hard.  However, let's be honest, if Dustin wins this thing (and I'm not yet convinced he has lost given the Hyperwaste recruiter's website says: "As indicated, these referrals have not been verified and do not include all referral sources. These standings are not final."), we are going to see  "Rebelscum.com, Home of the Star Wars Fan Club President!" splashed all over the place.  And I'd be willing to bet RS will be mentioned prominently in every article or speech Dustin gives.  That's fine, just don't kid yourself that Dustin and Phillip didn't have an agenda of their own that goes beyond some prizes and and a phoney title.  USC wants to use the position to make industry contacts and/or further his influence?  And Dustin and Phillip don't?  Please.   ::)

Lastly, I find the attitudes of the staff here really interesting.  Members complain that they are sick of seeing the campaign ads all over the front page and the retort from the staff is, "If you don't like it, you don't have to come here."  Nice attitude; glad to see customer service is alive at well at RS.  Sure, some of the members didn't voice their opinions very tactfully, but what do you expect when they've been conditioned by the tactless responses they've received in the past?

I just finished Watership Down.  What a great novel.  It's right up there with LOTR if you ask me.

USCWannabe?  He also liked Howard the Duck.  And, I've heard he not only can't cite every occurance of 1138 in the saga, but he actually thought the number of the trash compactor in Star Wars was 3273826.  ::)

True fan my ass.

Before we start gloating too much, we should realize that we have no idea who uscwannabe is.  What if turns out to be GNT?  Or Greenday?  Or Dale?

Or Philip Wise.   :o

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Best and Worst James Bond Theme Songs?

"Live and Let Die" is probably the best, IMO, although "For Your Eyes Only" and "View to a Kill" are sentimental favorites for me as well.

I'm not Bond-savvy enough to choose the worst theme(s).
