Watto's Junk Yard / Re: A Game of Thrones (HBO)
« on: April 19, 2012, 06:12 PM »
I was re-watching Season 1 on HBO On Demand and something really stood out to me:  the scene shortly after Bran was pushed and Cersei visits Catelyn in Bran's room and tells her she lost her first son.  Cersei said the child was dark haired and strong like Bran and fought the fever that took him.  She said he looked just like Robert.  This was before we knew that all of Cersei's other children were fathered by Jamie.  What I took from this story was that Cersei killed her son in the same way she killed John Arryn.

Ryan - sorry to hear about Blizzard - it is so hard to lose a dog.  I held my pug Misty when the vet gave her the shot too.  It was hard but it was nice too - I didn't want her last moments to be in fear.  Instead - she was was cozy and happy.  Take comfort in the fact that you made it easier on him.  It will get better with time.

Sorry to hear that Jesse :(  I don't think people realize how much our pets mean to us and how much we mourn them when they are gone.  Sounds like you have a lot of great memories of Tarkin.

I am a domestic engineer, a nurse, a psychiatrist, a teacher, a hostage negotiator, a judge and jury, a chef, a magician, a juggler, an acrobat, a costumer, a cab driver and a dispenser of hugs and kisses. :)

Not much has changed.  Since my son has had some recent healthy difficulties and bad reactions to his meds, my job has become even more hectic and has required me to add the title of advocate and secretary - as I need to keep meticulous notes.  All of the other fun stuff is still in my job description - along with whatever else is required :)

I predict Catnip will be the new IT baby name.   :)  Yes I know that was spelled wrong.

It will be a blessed relief from the the influx of Bellas in the past few years ::)

Agreed.  Rick's group now knows that all dead/dying need a hole in the head - but how long will it take other's to figure this out?  I does seem hopeless unless there is an unforseen event/climate/etc. that helps to eliminate them.  [Please - if you know already - no hints or spoilers]

Looking forward to The Hunger Games as well - though I didn't think the novels were as amazing as many others did.  Thought it was pretty good and I agree that the heroine is of a much better stock than that mealey-mouthed-mousey Bella - though she is no Lisbeth Salander.  I will probably catch a matinee during the week after the hype dies down a little.  A lot of my interest comes from the fact the it was all filmed in NC - with quite a bit of it done in Charlotte and two miles up the street at the abandoned Phillip Morries plant.  Quite a few of my friends and their children are extras in the District 12/Reaping scenes - so my curiosity is piqued.

On another mesasage board, someone asked why didn't Dale become a zombie like Randall and Shane and I mentioned that Daryl shot Dale in the head to destroy his brain;

Actually - Darryl shot Dale in the head as an act of mercy - to end his suffering.  He had no idea at that point the that living need headshots at the end also to prevent them from turning into Walkers.

Sigh, so much awesomeness, and then there's effing Lori.  ::)

The only sour note in the whole episode, and I am getting tired of coming back to this, but damn, LORI. WHAT THE HELL?!?! YOU basically tell Rick to murder Shane, then screw with Shane's head causing him to try and murder Rick, and then when Rick actually does what you asked, because he is forced to due to your careless meddling, you have the unbelievable audacity to get all huffy WITH HIM?!?!?

She is just a rotten person, plain and simple. I wish she would just leave and take Carol with her already. Ugh, so over those two.

Nail. On. The. Head.  For a while there I was starting to like Carol and how she was coming into her own after getting away from her ******* husband.  I had hoped she and Darrell would hook up - they seemed good for each other and brought out the best in each other.  Now she just seems like a whiney harpy.

Holy ****.

- Lori getting all indignant after the talk with Rick? ******. That bitch has gotta go.

I thought the exact same thing.  What right did she have to get judgmental on him?  She pretty much ensured that Rick would never trust Shane again with her little speech in the tent.  She totally fired him up and egged him on.

Unrelated, I finally jumped on the Big Bang Theory bandwagon............Really enjoying that show.

So have we.  I am not sure how I have missed this show, but TBS runs it constantly - so we watch it whenever it is on - it's our new favorite comedy.

The best part is that as much of a douche as Shane has been, he was dead on 100% right when he was telling Rick that Carl needs his daddy more than the group needs Rick to lead for the moment.
+1!  I could not agree with you (or Shane - as much as it chaps my ass to admit it) more!  That was the one true moment of clarity that Shane had in a long time - when it seems like he wasn't trying to manipulate Rick - just being real for once.
