Star Wars Action Figures / Re: Some WIP's Litering my Work Bench

That GIJoe body on the left is perfect for Star Wars customs in the republic era. I use them for Republic Intelligence operatives for my Republic Intelligence photo novel. Captain Dyne is in the middle of both.

Chewie, I haven't worked with foamboard since highschool . . . any chance you could tell us how you go about cutting it? I had tried a couple times, but even with a ruler had a rough time getting straight lines. Maybe I need to not be in a hurry when I do it, but any tips would help! (Tools, glue type, etc) Thanks!

That's a great pic - is that a modified Shmi head on a Luminara body?  Looks like one of those giant GI JOE vehicles in the background.  Awesome.

As for the kama, yeah I saw that too from a few other guys at RS.  Oh well, I think I prefer it without the kama on this one.

 :P

Yep, it's a Shmi head with some modified hair from ROTS Agen Kolar. GIJoe vehicle, yes but shhh. . . only thing I had laying around to fit the purpose. Hope it's not too obvious. Supposed to be in a desert, Tatooine-ish climate on Zonju-V. Thinking about just having it as a Jawa Sand Crawler sort of thing. I'll never show the whole vehicle though. Just hint at the size of it or something.

GGPike, the Lethiss figure is kind of tall, I didn't do anything to shorten him.  I figure he just might be a tall guy like Durge.  For Mubaas, I figure the terrorists "borrow" items all the time - from weapons to armor, to whatever they can get their hands on.  Good to see you're still here some.  Any chance on a new photonovel update from you?

 :P

Chewie, yep I'm still working on the photonovel. I just don't get a lot of time to work on it in one sitting. Oh and for Rykrof, the clones did use their Kama's with jetpacks. Star Wars Insider . . . whatever the clone issue was said it protected the backs of their legs against backwash from the jetpack . . . . the kama is sort of like a flexible armor.  ;)

Actually, here's a shot of Republic Intelligence I'm working on right now!  :P

Chewie, I love these.

Jango Fett is a great combo of jango-parts, looks very solid. Haven't even thought of combining the different existing parts and here you come making them look maaavelous.

Mubass is a character I didn't expect (used to the robes on the Twi'leks.) but really liked the appearance of in your photonovels. I am curious how he got his clone armor though  ;).

Lethiss, now this is great. I've had that Marvel Ghost Rider body sitting there for a month or so and haven't figured out a damn thing to do with it. It's the height difference that I have a hard time getting over. Did you somehow correct that, or is he still the same height?

Awesome work again!

Well after seeing this, I picked up an extra Ki-Adi on the way home from work. Got home and plunked Meena's head and hands on there and what a beauty it is!

Also, for some reason I had a helmet from the '94 GI Joe Star Brigade line lying around(Sci Fi's) sans the redish/pinkish clear part on, so just the gray helmet. Lo and behold (with minor trimming on the front) it fits right on Meena's head. Got me thinking about getting some Mon Cal shock troopers going on. I'll put pics up soon.

Chewie, that Trenchback is nice!!!!!  You made me just pick one up off of ebay. I really like how Yettar came out as well. I had been eyeing that figure for months but never made the decision to get it. I'll have to take a look in the clearance isle at TRU now. I'd like to see a close up shot of Yettar as well, so we can all get a good look at him. Are his knees articulated as well?

Well I ordered mine right off and everytime I look it still isn't showing as shipped=I'm worried as hell. I remember how a TON of people were trashing this and saying it sucked and they wouldn't buy it..no way. Funny I see those same now upset that they can't get it. When you wait....you're late

but I haven't got mine in yet so I'm (hopefully) temporarily pissed >:(

I haven't recieved any kind of email either about it being shipped. I ordered mine back on September 1st. A little strange that all these people that ordered later are getting thier orders filled and shipped. I'm going to be a little annoyed if it doesn't work out. I've already sent them an "email" about it . . . . 2 days ago, and have yet to get a reply. Beautiful customer service!

My only minor quibble is that the first strike against Valiant in LOE was from Geonosians using their sonic blasters...it's described as crushing the captain's insides so fiercely they almost liquify. That would have been interesting to see here, especially with your mastery of the special effects.

Well for one thing, when I shot this, I had no geonosians . . . so I decided just to take some liberty with how it was played out. Since I've shot it, I got my hands on a couple of geonosians, one with a sonic blaster. Also, the droids that were with sidious were assasin droids . . . and I've gotten some of those (IG-88's) since then. But I really thought that it would be fun to have sidious do the honors. Maybe I'll go back and shoot it word for word like it was played out in LOE sometime.

Oh and Tijuanajedi . . . if you haven't read LOE (or if you have and missed it) Captain Dyne doesn't make it :( I have another character that will be taking Dyne's place though. I really like Dyne's character and his role throughout LOE. On the upside, Dyne will be reappearing during some flashbacks during the story. If anyone has a suggestion for the name of Dyne's replacement, let me know.

Use the following how to as a guideline. I've also typed out how I've done it.
http://www.pslover.com/click/3656

This is how I did lightning. First you create a new layer. Press D to reset the colors. Then, once you're working in that layer, select whatever you area you want the lightning to be in, in the picture. I usually just lasso the area. Once you've done that, go into your filters and render clouds. Next apply the render difference clouds. Now invert the difference clouds (ctrl + I ). Next change the levels (ctrl + L) Set the middle input level to .1 Now it should look like lightning. Once you have that done, adjust the hue/saturation. Make sure you check the colorize box. Then you adjust the lightning color to how you want it. Now what isn't on the tutorials is how you can make the lightning look like it's actually part of the picture. I did this by changing the setting in the layers window. I changed it from normal to Color Dodge. This makes it more realistic.

Well, this is something that is going to take a while for me to complete each story, so that's fine. I hope that I'll be able to get a system down for shooting and editing . . . this one took care of some of the guess work so it should help.

The story will essentially be a fanfic, the main character will be my own along with others in the story. Right now I'm trying to obtain the figures/parts I'll need to get them together. So far the main character is ready to go, along with some key characters in the story. Others are just conceptualized and are in the making. This takes up a lot of damn time! I am considering doing some flashbacks (like in LOST) during the story. . . I'll see how viable that is as I go along.

Thanks guys. I appreciate your responses! This story, though short, took me a while to complete with all the other things in life going on (Chewie, I'm sure you can attest to that!) The lightning effects along with any other effects were done in photoshop. Took a little bit to get the hang of it, but once you get it . . . oh man it's so awesome.

The whole thing was a ton of fun to shoot, especially since it was in the dark. I forgot how many times I tripped on who knows what while shooting. Seriously though, if it wasn't for all of your photonovels, this thing would have never been attempted. Of course now I'm hooked!

The story line will follow Republic Intelligence and Captain Dyne's succesor. It is a spinoff of LOE, in that it will pick up where Dyne's team failed. I hope I'll be able to carry the story as well as you all say I'm doing.

Please, any input as far as storyline etc are welcome!! Chewie if you would like to, let me know how your story is progressing  . . .  a possible crossover or cameo would be awesome in either of our photonovels!

Labyrinth of Evil: The following takes place in the final hour leading up on the attack on Coruscant. The Republic Intelligence photo novel will began immediately after the Battle of Geonosis.

. . . To Be Continued!!!!!
