with the layout of the terraon we may not be able to glue/attatch pegs in the floor, if we use those rool out landscape pieces. will clear stands work? i have about 100 of those i'd be able to put in there? they may show a bit, but would work well.....

the "pics allowed but please no touching" sign is a great idea. on th etable hieght, mabey a tad below average person waist high. just so people gan have the birds eye advantage and make it a bit easier for shorter people and kids....

Celebration IV - Ultimate Group Project / Re: Are we serious or not??
« on: January 16, 2007, 10:55 PM »
all of that is true and personaly i like phurby's new approach!

i must admit i hadn't been active in this thing for a long while since i was over seas but i have tried to get into it the past couple months, for whatever it's worth...
i did a couple figures and gave the application letter a shot, not much compared to others but i'm willing to contribute some more.

i don't much frequent JD anymorebecause there has been a customizing slump there in general for whatever reason, but i'm sure that some vital info and what not was lost between sites and that is quite a problem.

the chat thing seems like a big problem to, which is why i suggested a chat thread. a drawn out conversation that takes 2 days or so is better than no conversatioon at all!

and i have to say, that if this project is making people feel like this and there is a possibility that people will get thier feelings hurt or create animosity between community members, mabey it is best to let this go. this was supposed to be fun thing for the community right? no somting to make peoples lives harder and create tension. mabey next celebration or the one after that somthing like this could be tried. this is such a great hobby, it should never go the direction it's headed....

i suppose we will just have to wait and see the direction phurby goes and how people respond.....

great customs chewie!

-that early medical droid is awsome.

-the tracked probe droid is very cool, nice and bulky. looks very primative and hard used, definetley somthing the rebels would have to make work.

-the rebel soldier he's woking on is still cool, though the ammo on his bandolier would be more visable if they where a darker color, but still an awsome figure.

-that owend rebel speeder is just sick. owen does great work and that is a prime example, very nice.

-glad you got the rebel trooper for the secret santa. i've been wanting to know if you had gotten him yet or not. haven't really been able to check with yak being down!

it is an interesting concept and very cool way for the fans to participate in the booth. that is a huge area to cover! it's really cool that he has official sponsorship. i hope that our 2 projects don't hinder eachother. :)

i tried putting a figure in th oven to cure sculpy a couple years ago, it cured fine and while the figure didn't melt, the painted details such as eyes, began to run. it was a wookie figure and the eyes ran about half way down the face!

it looked kind of cool, but not really what you want.... and if it may cause health problems, as ben mentioned it's probably best to steer clear of it!

so where do you guys think that puts us a far as actual space for the dio?

Star Wars Action Figures / Re: new endor rebels trooper question

i've done the same.

the lower arms actually pop on and off very easily, with out boiling or anything, and that makes the vest very easy to take off. i have cus the sleeves on a couple, whihc looks ok. but my personal fav. mo on thses guys is to totaly remove the jacket and throw, just about any will work, a solo black vest on them, it looks great and allows for full use of the articulatio, or lack there of, in the arms. hope that helps a bit.

:D i'm glad you like metal jedi! the hair is a a bit thick. it's made from some black hep rope i got from micheals crafts. i think i may do another with some thinner strands, these just looke really dreadish. the arms are actually still the CW kit fitso upper arms dremmeled out with evo palpatines lower arms fit in them. thanks again man!

i think what phurby suggested should be the standard.

-if you want your work back, you must include packaging and money to send it back to you.

-otherwise all contibutions are considered donations and will be raffled off or ebayed or whatever the group leaders decide to do with them.

that works for me! :)

wow man, great job! very clean looking..... what trooper are you planning on making with those?

i sent a letter idea via pm and gave a few other ideas at the bottom. phurby said that i should bring one of them up here to see what everyone thought so here goes....

in the decription of the "letter body" phurby posted, it asks for you to tell what service your booth would be providing the fans. while our main effort is to give the a site to see and show them our hobby and support for starwars, i was thinking that we could have a raffle at the end of the convention. we could hand out tickets, or even sale them if you guys wanted and mabey give the proceeds to charitey or somthing, and at the end of the convention have a drawing. pick 10 or so people as winners and those people can pick a piece from the dio to take home with them. we could draw say 5 tickets for just a figure or 2, 3 tickets for a figure & vehicle and the last 2 could be for a building, pices of the landscape, figures or what ever they wanted.

we couls also do a set couple of prizes, like have a display of a couple custom figures made by some of our customizers, some real wow customs, and have a seperat drawinf for those.

this seems to me to be a selling point for the letter to get a "free booth". not only are we giving the fans a site to see and an introduction to our customizing communitiy, but we are providing a fun event for the fans to participate in and possibly win somthing and if we did decide to charge for the raffle tickets, even $1.00, and give it to chariety, that would be another great selling point for us inthis letter.

plus we need to figure out what to do with the entire set up after the convetion any how!

so what do youguys think??? :)
