Saga Collection '06 / Re: Bonus Mini Hologram Figures
« on: January 23, 2006, 10:10 AM »
Anyone think about using these as a chess set? Think about it, stormtroopers and Rebel fleet troopers, good pawns.

Really?  I had not heard that one yet...  ;)

I've seen this idea floating around the 'net, and I might just have to try it... a Mini-Holo Chess set?

Pawns = RFTs and Stormtroopers
Rook = Han and Fett
Knight = Luke and Maul
Bishop = Amidala and Dooku
Queen = Ben and Vader
King = Yoda and Palpatine

Add a bit of spray paint to color them and volia!  Might give me something to do with all the extras I'm expecting by the end of the year...  :P

Left Hulkbuster IM and Thing, which is going to pegwarm worst than Prof. X and Dr. Strange.  He is one shitastic figure.

Hulkbuster Iron Man is shitastic?  Or the Thing?

Oh I was thinking actual Senate figures like royal guards or blue guards and some senators.

I guess we're defending the Senate inside Palpatine's office now.  If we get a decent red robed Palps out of it with some articulation I'd be stoked.

Yeuck... I don't even want to know what you do with your Spudtrooper then.   :-X

 :P

Oh I bet that thing gets buttered up and rubbed all over his body after a good toy hunt like the rest of us.

Wait, what figures are coming in this pack again?

Revenge of the Sith / Re: "Evolutions" assortment...

Have evolutions always been $22.99 at TRU?  I stopped by one yesterday on the off chance they might have anything I need (no such luck).  They had about four each of the Sith and Grey Clones priced at the aforementioned cost.  I'm not 100% certain because I bought all my Evos at Target, but I could have sworn that they were $19.99 at TRU also.  Did TRU increase the price on these?  If so, great move by them.  Like they can afford to lose any more business.  ::)

Evolutions are $23.99 at my TRU now but were $19.99 before January 1st.

One thing that came to mind while looking over the Hoth wave again is the state of Imperial troops at this point.  The AT-AT driver reminds me that we really have some amazing Imperial figures now, with the VOTC Stormtrooper, Evolutions Sandtrooper, and SAGA TIE Pilot.  The snowtrooper however reminds me how nice it would be to get a SA version of this one, comparable to the three I mentioned earlier.  That, in addition to the rumored VOTC Scout coming this year (hopefully) would really round out things nicely.  Not that this Snowtrooper is horrible, but I've been debating how much I'd like to army build with this version, or hold out for a better one down the road.  Otherwise, we're getting a pretty nice lineup overall, something I hope continues.

Speaking of a nice SA trooper, how nice would it have been to get a Hoth Rebel Soldier instead of Vader or Riekken in this wave?

I hate their system for getting into the HOF.  My God you have to be almost a super-human ball player to even have a hope and prayer of getting that many votes.

Yup, plus the writers/voters have to like you as a person.  You would have had to kiss some media ass in your day.

I think its a crime Jack Morris is not getting in, that guy was the best big game pitcher in baseball in the 80's and early 90's and won four rings

When I think of pitchers of the 80's I think of Gooden, Ryan, Clemens and Morris

I think Ryan and Clemens are slam dunks.  Morris and Gooden, on the other hand, are going to have problems.  I'd say Gooden is definitely not going to the Hall, especially with his problems with cocaine lately.  But I know what you mean about the pitchers of the 80s, I'd like to also add Mike Scott to that list.

"Bounty Hunt" figures are nothing more than paint variants to the basic figures - things like an ESB deco Fett, Mygeeto Clone Snowtrooper, Alternate Republic Commando, etc etc.

Okay this bothers me a little bit, especially if this is going to be the only release of the Mygeeto clone under Ki Adi.  First of all, I want about 8 of them and they're gonna be $20.  Also, that particular one is not a straight up repaint of a snowtrooper, because the helmet differes.  The snowtrooper has 2 separate "eyes" on the helmet, and the Mygeeto trooper has a solid visor like the regular clone helmets for the "eyes".

I kinda think that the Jedi knew of the prophecy of finding the one who would "Bring Balance to the Force," but I don't think they knew exactly what it meant.  In fact, I think Yoda said something to the effect of "misread the prophecy may have been."   The Jedi thought that Anakin would make everything right.  However...

I kinda think of it literally as a "balance" scale.  What did we wind up with when all was said and done?  2 force users left on each side: Anakin and Palps on the dark side, and Obi Wan and Yoda on the light side.  Balanced, 2 and 2.  Balance was brought to the force all right.  Before the balance, it was about 300 on the light side, vs. 2 on the dark side.

By my own rules he's not a pegwarmer yet, but man he's on his way it seems. :)  He's about the only Saga figure to be found, and he's definitely around.  Saw 3 last night at WM, now there's 3 at KM...  Other stuff's gone, but captain neck nads is there.

I would have thought before these 6 figures were released that Chewbacca would sit (let's face it, he's too short and not the best sculpt, plus he's a repack) and Barada would sit.  And I thought that Fett would sell well just because he always does.  Han, Bib, and Leia are new sculpts so I thought they'd sell well.

I too see a nice brick of Bib forming.  He was the first one I bought, and I didn't buy any other figures in the wave until 2 weeks later, and that was Leia and Han.

Predicting pegwarmers is a tough business.

The Texans need to decide what they're going to do with David Carr.  If they're going to stick with Jonathan Wells and Domanick Davis in the backfield, they can move Carr and draft Vince Young or Matt Leinert.

Personally, I like the idea of Vince Young.  He's a Michael Vick-ish QB with a better arm than Vick.

Reggie Bush can still be taken #1 and used as a wideout and keep Domanick Davis in the backfield.

For now though, we wait to see if Vince Young is going to enter the draft.  He should.  And I'd love to have him as the QB on my team, because I think he's a notch above Leinert.

So though Reggie Bush is the number 1 pick in a vacuum, it remains to be seen whether he's taken #1 cuz the Texans need to make a QB choice, and we need to see if Young enters the draft.
