I saw the new sets at TRU as well. They looked cool, but were extremely pricey. The Gandalf v. Saruman set was $15 and Elrond Council was $35. I didn't catch the prices on the bigger sets. This line is so sooooo tempting.

I think he would have mentioned it if it was the rarer last wave of 2012.

A man can dream, can't he?  :)

Just to clear, it was old stuff. Not even any of the Light ups like Vader, Obi-wan and Qui-gon.

Ok, I guess not.  :'(

More of a Movie heroes, thing, but Big Lots! got 2012 movie heroes and 2013 Class I vehicles in. Prices are pretty unspectacular at $9 for the figures, $18 for the vehicle sets.

Just curious, what figures did they have? Was it stuff that is still available everywhere or the final wave with Exploding Battle Droid and light-up Anakin?

And coming next week, OLD MAN LOGAN!!!  ;D Now I don't really know that for sure, but it's crazy how these subscription exclusives have popped up at HTS. It's probably where they should have been to begin with.

The Vintage Collection '10-'13 / Re: TRU Exclusive Endor Big AT-AT

DIdn't they release in other countries already? Of course that doesn't mean anything anymore. Imagine a $100+ foreign exclusive.

I know they were (or are) available in Canada. I'm just glad I won't have to import one like all those Clone Wars figs... shipping would have been insane! As terrible as the "mud" paint apps on the feet are I am still looking forward to this. The dark grey plastic used looks great from pictures online, and the vehicle should look great filled with Endor AT-ST Drivers, Scout Troopers, and Imperial Officers. It is a shame they couldn't update the electronics, but I don't even keep batteries in my big vehicles so I guess it doesn't matter for me.

The Series 4 figures are looking good! I can't wait to see the final images of all seven figures. I am especially glad they are re-releasing Daryl. It's great for the people who don't have one (they shouldn't have to pay $200+), and also for those who hated the terrible paint job on the first. While improved paint won't help fix the terrible articulation, it should go a long way in making the face sculpt look good.

The only question I had was when Tyreese was coming to relieve Sasha.  Then he changes his mind and tells her to wait a little longer...where did he go?  I thought this was  Tyreese going to save Andrea, but I don't think they ever showed where he went, did they?  Maybe it was irrelevant or maybe it will come up next season, but I thought that was odd.  I also wonder if Tyreese or Sasha maybe burned the Woodbury Zombies instead of Milton - maybe Milton just let them out the gate.  Would be an interesting turn to take.

I was also expecting Tyrese to save Andrea, and was bummed it didn't happen. According to Dallas Roberts, the actor who played Milton, parts of the episode were reshot. Originally Milton was shot by the Governor, we would have seen zombie-Milton attack Andrea, and Tyrese would have been the only one to find the carnage. I guess Tyrese's "I'm going somewhere" line was left due to sloppy editing. There are some pics floating around of the original version of the scene/episode. In the old version Milton was wearing glasses, like the pic below:

The Black Series 3.75" Figures / Re: Realistic Clone Wars Wants?
« on: April 5, 2013, 09:45 PM »
A realistic version of Cody seems rather redundant.  Wasn't he done in the TVC line, after all?  Certainly, Hasbro could try to achieve some savings by offering that figure up again as a live-action Clone Wars offering.  But doing so seems a little disingenuous.
Not if it was the phase 1 version. It is more than just a different helmet.

Agreed.  And on a similar note, Hasbro could offer both phase I and phase II armor Rex's.  But if Hasbro is truly interested in bringing Clone Wars characters into the realm of realistic figures, there are certainly some more interesting choices than a character like Cody.  Especially since we've seen at least a couple of realistic renditions of Cody since 2006.

If Hasbro tackles the Clone Commanders, I would like to see them take an approach similar to the ARC Trooper Cmdr. (notFordo) by including alternate helmets and gear to cover both Phase 1 and 2 styles. I could look past a mis-colored belt and rank badge on a Phase 1 Cody or kill marks on a Phase 1 Rex if it meant getting both versions of the characters in one shot.

That being said, the Clone Wars characters I want to see most in realistic form are the Clones (Rex, Cody, Wolffe, Gree, ARC Troopers, ARF Troopers), Mandalorians (especially Pre Vizsla from the later episodes), Cad Bane, Pong Krell, Sugi (sp?) and Embo. So really it is mostly the bounty hunters and cartoon-only clones that would appeal to me. As nice as the realistic Obi-Wan and Anakin were last year, they felt redundant. I imagine I'd feel the same about many of the other Jedi and Sith from the show.

So I'm thinking about the season as a whole, and I feel that everything was a bit jumbled up in terms of tone and such. Last night's finale would have been great as a mid-season finale, while episodes like Killer Within, Made to Suffer, and to an extent This Sorrowful Life might have made for great season finales.

SPOILERS below for people who haven't read the comic....

I also think the pacing was too fast overall, especially in the first half of the season. It was like they tried overcompensating because of the Season 2 complaints. I have been re-reading the comics, which devoted a good amount of time to the prisoners and didn't introduce Woodbury right when the group found the prison. The prisoners causing trouble, along with the group setting up life at the prison, would have made for a great first half of the season. Introducing Woodbury could have been saved for the back half, with the build-up and eventual war taking place in Season 4. I think the build-up on the show over the last 8 or 9 episodes, along with knowing about the huge battles that took place in the comic, led to feeling that the prison attack in the finale was ultimately anti-climactic.

DOUBLE SPOILERS!!!!

SPOILERS (obviously)

It was okay. They played it a tad safe. The governor's villain luck holds out, folks panic instead of shooting back, I can accept that since they were shocked by his actions and not fighters. But it's a good thing his closest men are loyal even when there's no reason to be. Seriously, neither guy had any feelings for any of those people? They think a snapped Philip isn't gonna take his anger out on one of them at some point?

Andrea...taking on walkers with a knife...can't handle one sans knife?  She was too intent on getting her other hand free, that's where I think she blundered.

Why stay in the prison? Why no Woodbury...they were asking that on Talking Dead...no one had a good answer. I'd imagine there's tons more supplies in Woodbury, and far more comforts.

The Governor's two surviving henchmen going with him was such a hilarious moment to watch, but as you said it didn't make sense. They obviously DIDN'T want to get in the car, but did anyway, even though the Gov was out of bullets. As for Andrea, I'm guessing her inability to kill Zombie Milton was due with her physical state... we don't know how long she was tied up in the torture chamber but it must have been a couple of days.  Lastly, Woodbury vs. the prison... I guess the prison might be more secure? Or at least they might need fewer people to defend it/guard the fences?

Overall I thought the finale was good. I liked Andrea's character, mostly due to how imperfect she was, so I was sad to see her go. It was a terrible way to go out, fighting a zombified version of a friend and then shooting herself in front of her friends. Interesting that she ultimately committed suicide. The prison fight was anticlimactic, but the Governor mowing down his own troops was quite unexpected. Having the Gov just drive off didn't seem to fit the overall tone of the finale, but I'm glad he is still alive. I'm guessing he will run into Randall's group from Season 2 and end up with a dangerous fighting force.

Lastly, there were too many suspenseful moments in the episode where I expected stuff to go down, but it didn't. In particular when the prison group was just standing around in the courtyard after ousting the Woodbury Army, I fully expected a straggler to shoot one of the good guys. When Glenn first took off his helmet I was on the edge of my seat, I was ready. Then with Milton's turn, they did a great job drawing that out. I was also expecting Tyrese to burst through the door to save Andrea, but obviously we know how that went...

Bring on Season 4.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: GI Joe Retaliation - The Movie

I was able to squeeze a viewing into my schedule yesterday. It was a great bad movie, like The Expendables or something similar. It didn't seem to take itself seriously (unlike the predecessor or the Transformers movies) and at times I felt like it was an incredibly well-done action movie spoof. It was exactly what I expected for a movie based on toys, and I had a great time watching it.

I am having a difficult time understanding these case assortments. Why in the world would Hasbro double up on Biggs? If Wedge showed up anything, it's that pilots aren't nearly popular enough to warrant 2x per case or reshipping in multiple cases. Double up on the Clone Sgt. or Luke instead.

OMG, McFarlane just confirmed on Talking Dead that we're getting an Andrea figure this year! (Maybe September?)

This was #1 on my list of the remaining TV characters to be made. Good times.

Yep, Andrea is apart of Wave 4 which was announced back at Toy Fair. The other figures in the wave will be Carl, The Governor, and two Riot Gear zombies. Carl was actually on display as an early prototype sample, but the other four figures were merely pictured on a placard. It should be a solid wave though and I'm looking forward to it.

Some paint deco changes and apparently a larger pauldron.  More details at the link.

Interesting. I'll have to keep my eyes open for the brown line version, but unlike the Boss figure I don't plan to spend extra on ebay for it.

the 2012 Captain Rex(es)

What's the variant on Captain Rex? Is it a significant paint difference like the Boss figure, or just a packaging variation?
