Once again I won't be able to attend. Hopefully though we'll be back in December.

Power of the Force 2 / Re: POTF2 aquisitions you're proud of
« on: July 22, 2012, 01:42 PM »
I've been clearing out all of my POTF2 stuff. Just sold a Slave Leia with a japanese sticker back for $2.50. I have a closed fist tusken raider if anyone's interested. I'll take a trade. PM me if you're interested. Appologies if my posting this here is a no no. I'm on a vintage ewok kick so I'm clearing out a bunch of carded stuff I have in favor of loose stuff and need a few parts to complete an ewok village and accessories to complete a few ewoks. The ROTJ ones, not the cartoon ones.

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2011 "Vintage" Collection Wave 10 - TPM
« on: December 18, 2011, 10:00 AM »
Isn't it more than a little unusual for a wave to be round at retail before online sellers even have a case up for preorder?

This is weird.

I wonder if it's a situation similar to the 1st wave of Indy figures. Retail had such a demand for those at the time my online retailer order was canceled because Hasbro was shipping everything to retail for an expected rush in demand. In this instance I'd take a guess that Hasbro supplied the entire wave direct to retail first to make sure the shelves had product for Christmas and didn't even give online retailers an option to offer it. It's a stretch but it's possible. Odd though since you'd think most retailers like Walmart and Meijers would have a backstock of past waves at their warehouse/stockroom because they couldn't restock pegs due to the warmers. I know I've had luck the few weeks before Christmas in the past where a really old wave of stuff got stocked because a box or two was found hiding in the back.

Alas, I won't be able to make the trip this year. Car issues. I was really looking forward to this years December show too. Not to mention a usual trip on Friday nights to the Barley House a few of us dealers do. At least I think that's what the place is called called.

LEGO / Re: Legos

This is funny, I too stand in the aisle and use the whipple method to figure out what's what. I usually start to draw a crowd and after I walk away from the display they usually gather around it and start picking them up too. Once I had a guy come over, ask me what I was doing and ask if I could find him a spartan. He was shocked with how fast I found him one. I blame that on luck and the fact it was a new and pretty full display. I haven't started on the new series of these yet, I still need some from series 1.

That's what I got to thinking at first Jesse, but I then I thought about what got me to thinking about this in the first place. I see a toy shelf with the AT-AT, Snowspeeder and Tie Fighter on a shelf all in the vintage deco. Once I add the B wing, Y wing, Landspeeder and Taun Taun the shelf will look like a blast from the past. Somewhere at Hasbro there's a similar shelf in the marketing department or just hanging around somewhere that everytime anyone who grew up with Vintage Star Wars sees it there's a conversation that happens. Based on that I'm betting we'll see the Cloud Car and maybe the slave 1, the X-wing and Vader Tie eventually repacked in the vintage deco. Maybe even the Falcon. It's not too far fetched. But with that much merch in that deco why not go out on a limb and shoot for a playset. The packaging sells product, I know I've passed on various items if I know they exist or are going to exist in the Vintage style deco.

I will appologize and take full responsibility if this discussion does blow up and will promise in the future to not touch upon such delicate subjects.  ;)

I was thinking about how when Hasbro does a release of a ship in the Vintage style deco that the item usually sells through.  I know I buy them But I'm biased towards that deco. Granted, the Target ships may have hit clearance; I don't really know, but I know they can be quick to clearance anything. That said what are the odds Hasbro could be tempted to release redesigned playsets in Vintage Deco boxes? I think the Jabba Throne set was a missed oppurtunity. I don't think the Lars set was executed properly. With the amount of Cantina Aliens out there now doesn't it make sense to release a new Cantina? Not a rehash of that cardboard thing either. A land of the Jawas set? A freakin' death star? Do you think they plan to re--release any previously released items in that deco? Do you wish they would re-release items in that deco?

Since this is the 3rd shipment of these that Entertainment Earth has had on this case assortment I'd say it's only a matter of time before these are all over the place. The variant used to sell for over $300 on the bay and now hit's barely over $40. The price is coming down and I'm sure EE will get another shipment before it's over. They'll probably be everywhere the next toyshow you go to.

I'd love one of these sets but alas it's just not in the budget. Congrats to all who managed to snag it, they are the only figures I'm missing from the modern Indy line. Steel City is this weekend so who knows what I may run into it but if anyone wants to trade some stuff for one of these sets let me know. Hopefully they'll come back up at a time I have cash for one, I really don't want to pay ebay prices.

Exclusives are up but this set is sadly not one of them.

It's up!

I think it should be interesting to see how this show is over the summer. December was more fun than the last show but I think that's because there were more cosplayers and less people there just to get Adam West' autograph. I'll be there again and I have a friend who will be there that not only sells a lot of vintage SW/G1TF/joe but also weapons and accessories for those in need.

Other Toy Lines / Re: Transformers

A little off topic but I wanted to know if anyone here knows where one should go if they were ever in Tokyo or Hong Kong and looking to get TF Reissues at wholesale pricing or even vintage Diaclone's/TF's for low cost.  I know, I'm asking for a miracle but I find myself in a unique situation where I may be able to periodically get TF toys from Japan. I have a friend who will actually be in Tokyo next week. He goes overseas about every other month, sometimes more often, and it's not just limited to the Tokyo and Hong Kong area that he visits.

The wave 3 rev.11 case is back up for order on the Entertainment Earth site. I doubt this is ever going to show up at retail, at least in any volume at this point and in my area. I searched for weeks and never found any of it. My local Target has not stocked any TVC in over a month and the others in my area have rarely put anything out, they're just not getting anything. Walmart isn't doing much better. I finally broke down and hit up TRU and was lucky enough to get Logray but passed on the rest of the wave as they all had banged up bubbles and figured I'd leave the RFT's for others. I talked to the guy there and he hadn't seen any of wave 3 come back through since it originally shipped.
