Other Collectibles / Re: 2007 USPS Star Wars Collectibles
« on: March 15, 2007, 01:34 PM »
One of these was put out in Columbus yesterday. It's gone now but it doesn't appear to be by theft. It seems the USPS put it out and them promptly took it back down. There's some uproar about it too, a lot of people are asking why the USPS would pay to have these done and then raise stamp prices. The post office and Lucasfilm didn't have any comments on it.

Well, two years later and Meijer still has 122 RotS deluxe Palpatines.

You have got to be talking about Sawmill Rd. Or did some other Meijer make the same over order mistake? You'd think by now they'd drop the price to $1 just to get the damn things out of there.

Picked up the 20th DVD anniversary Optimus Prime this weekend on clearance for $18 at a Wal-Mart. Later I was at another Wal-Mart that had it at clearance for $50. I also snagged a titanium Megatron for $10. I'm wishing I'd picked these up when they first came out. I can't find a Titanium Optimus anywheren now.

I think it's going to be some time before people warm up to this line. I see them all including variants just about everywhere. Price may be the issue but I was in TRU talking to one of the guys that works there and people ask if they have any left over Toy Biz in the back to put out when the shelves are stocked with Hasbro versions. He said there hasn't been that much interest in them at their store.

I picked one up and I have the original. They are the exact same size as far as I can tell. For the most part it is just like the original with only minor changes. The blue is a slightly different shade, the silver parts look more painted then cast colored plastic and the cassette drawer is double deep instead of flush with the face. Overall if you just had this one the only thing you would notice is the cassette door sticking out from the body. I'd love to more reissues.

I just got one of these on a card for the low, low price of free! The card is a bit bowed from probably being stored upright for a long time but that's not an issue.

They are showing in stock at starwarsshop.com too. Has anyone else ordered the animated leia through sws.com? It says on the site these should start shipping today from there and I was wondering if anyone has received a confirmation yet.

I like the sound of this thread. Recently I too started to liberate some figs and vehicles. Mostly POTF2 ships and ROTS figs. I liberated a POTF2 AT-AT, POTF2 Millenium Falcon and POTF2 Snow Speeder. Then various figures to man them and to place with them.

Hey Hasbro! / Re: More Playsets Hasbro!

I need a new death star playset! The should re-release the round palitoys version or create a two level one that combines the round design of the palitoys version with the multi levels of the Kenner one. Hell, just re-release the original kenner one and I'd be happy. The crap they came out with for POTF2 was a joke.

Power of the Force 2 / Re: The Beginning of POTF2

I was working for a comic distributor at the time, capital city if any of you can remember them. So I was always up on the new toys/comics/games/hobby stuff. Those were good times. When the new line came out I think they hit K-Mart first (after direct sales-I think these hit comic shops before retail) and then trickled down to Wal-Mart and everywhere else. Leia was a pain to get as was C-3po. Early cases pretty much only had Luke, Vader, Obi-wan, Han and R2. I think Leia and C-3po were 1 per case additions to the second wave and then it just snowballed from there. Then there was the variant phase where everyone was freaking out about the short/long saber/tray deal. I remember it got muddy after that. Green cards and orange cards looked like they were shipping out at the same time and then they added the holo's. You could open a case and find two of the same fig but one would have the holo and one wouldn't. Then the Freeze Frames started to hit and I'd had it by then. There was a frenzy going on at that point to get the new waves so I got sick of it and stopped getting them. I didn't pick the hobby up again until ROTS. I wanted to collect not fight the masses. That said, I have every Wizard that I ever bought while working for Capital (and later Diamond). I started there in 93 I think so I'll see if I can locate one of the earlier wizards that goes into the POTF2 release. If it existed I'd have it. I think someone mentioned it was in the 50's and my collection should go back to the 30's-high 20's issues. I know I have them, just not in order and not in the same places. I probably even have the Advanced Comics catalog with the pre-order info on them still. I kept all that crap because most of it came with trading cards and I wanted a price reference for the future.

I'm in the same boat. They hit my card on Friday but I'm still showing the same thing you are seeing on SWS.com. I'm giving it another day before I email them about it.

I thought that artwork on the ESB poster looked familiar. Here's a link from the vintage thread.

I finally picked up two of these at Wally world last weekend. I found two more at Kohls last night but I refuse to pay $9.99 retail for these. You could even see the $7.99 sticker underneath so you know they just raised the price on these recently.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: TSC Recent Purchases
« on: May 8, 2006, 04:09 PM »
Well, I haven't really picked up much but this weekend I was out and about and picked up UGH Han Solo, then a UGH AT-AT driver. This got me in the search mood so I ended up going all over the place and ended up with 3 more UGH, scorch, snowtrooper and grievous. I also ended up picking up the Demise of Grievous. I had hit 3 Targets and when I got to the last one they had 2 on the pegs. I figured I'd rather pick it when I saw it since all the other stores had empty pegs for it than wish I had picked it up later. TRU had just put out a fresh case of VTSC so I picked up the biker scout (since I figure he'd be harder to get later) and the tusken raider (which is my fav of the set). They were around the $9.99 price point. I'll pick up the rest later when I can swing the extra cash so I can get the lucas trooper. I also ended up ordering a shadow trooper of sws.com. I got to thinking with the VOTC figs that I would like to see them release a 12 back set like this. Do the original 12 figs in VOTC style with vintage repro's of the original 12 backs, just with the new figs instead. Not that I'm all excited for this to happen but I think it would be cooler than the card backs they are using now.
