Okay, I've been resisting the notion that my Trandoshen's legs are too long, but I am going to have to admit that you guys are right.

Thanks for pointing that out because I probably would never have noticed.  :P

I think I can shave some height off his ankles and it might make all the difference.

Thanks InRem for the comments.

That soft goods on th Ithorian is nothing more than a piece of cloth tucked into the plastic cloak that I painted blue, or rather stained blue.  ;)

I plan on doing some sleeves for him too. I'll update when I do.

Thanks again.

BTW, I think I have a solution to make my astromechs look more factory painted, I'll post if it works.

Here's a small tutorial that I made for the RS boards on making a lightsaber. Though this might be kind of rudamentary for you.

Make a lightsaber shape that you like on a new layer. I use the brush tool. Hold down the shift key and you will draw a straight line. You can then use the "distort" function under the EDIT menu to tapper one end.

In a drop down menu in the layer menu, choose the layer effect button. It's the first button on the bottom left.

Choose "outer glow." Click on the light yellow box. Light yellow is the default colour. This will pop up a colour menu. Click on the colour you want your glow to be.

Once the blade looks the way you want it, you can use the "free transform" funstion in the EDIT menu to rotate the blade, change the size of the blade and put it in the perpective you need.

Play around and if you have any more specific questions, I'd be glad to help if I can.

I am a photoshop professional. It's how I make my living.  ;D

Your question is a pretty tall order. PS is a huge program. My first suggestion is to get used to using layers. They can save you a lot of time.

Work on a layer above your original to experiment. That way you don't have to ditch the whole picture to get rid of an effect you're not fond of.

Name your layers too. They can multiply pretty fast and you will end up digging through them to try to activate a specific layer.

Here's a tip: to make a layer active, make sure you are on the "black arrow" tool and click on he image on the layer while holding down the "control" key. You will get a pop up menu beside your cursor asking what layer you want active.

 ;)

Cool idea.

That 12" kenobi in Clone armour is amazing too!

I think that Jarda the Trandoshen's legs look a little short.

Just kidding!  ;)

I wish you could get your own line at Hasbro. You seem to be able to come up with more interesting figures and faster too!

Thanks CHEWIE.

It's funny that you commented about the Trandoshen's legs looking too long. Originally, I just removed the Myo fig's feet and stuck Bossk's on, but he had the proportions of an ape. I added Bossk's ankle bandoliers to lengthen his legs. I used the original OTC Bossk side by side with my custom for comparative anatomy. So his legs are the correct length, as long as the OTC Bossk's legs are correct.  :-\

I really should stop posting astromechs I guess. But they are for me what clones are for everyone else.
 ;D

Glad you like the Ithorian. They are my fav SW race.

Thanks again!

Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: Great patch material!
« on: November 20, 2005, 06:28 PM »
I don't think it is quite the same as spackling compound.

This is from the instructions:

"Poly Instafil is a ready to use patching compoundthat will repair large holes in one application without shrinking cracking, as well as smoothing out surface imperfections. This filler is vry effective on drywall, plaster, wood, masonary and concrete. Poly Instafil has a very light texturewhich makes it easy to use on wall and ceiling damage where application and sanding might be difficult. Paintable and stainable. Not for busy or high traffic areas such as floors or hallway corners."  ;D

It also doesn't "puff" out of the holes like plaster does in drywall during the drying process.

Here is a shot of my patch job. Pretty sloppy, I know, but if time were taken to patch properly, I think it would be seamless.

That AT-RT driver does look great with the white armor. Phruby made a similar one a while back too. I think this would be a no-brainer for a repack for Hasbro actually. Who wouldn't want it! It's awesome. If you're lazy, you can do what I did and just put the head on a regular Clone #41 body and just have to repaint the head.

The ARC fighter looks great too. Really evil looking... I think a dark blue would also be a cool color scheme.

 :P

Thanks for pointing that out CHEWIE. I wasn't aware of Phruby's custom. I checked it out and mine is similar. I swear it is a coincidence though.   :-[

This guy was in the works for a while and I kept putting him down to work on other stuff.

I am not sure if he's finished ot not. He's an Ithorian peasant for Tatooine dio fodder.

It's my first use of softgoods.  ;)
