Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: Great patch material!

Those are good questions jedistyle.

1. It does NOT stick to surfaces that you don't want it to. It isn't sticky, but more like a creamy sculpy.

If you let it air dry for a few seconds, it gets even more clay-like.

It will stick to your finger in the way that sculpy leaves residue, but rubbing your fingers together makes it come off right away.

2. I've never tried to use it on a surface. But I will now.  ;)

Thanks CHEWIE. I'll have to look up Phruby's AT-RT Driver.

I thought about dk blue on the SARC, sort of like a WWII Corsair paint job. But again I decided to go black on black. I am going back in right now with some brass detailing on the engine parts.

That grey and brass Mandalorian is amazing!

Customizing Tips and Tricks / Great patch material!

I just posted this at RS as well.

Some of you might be using this stuff already, but I have just discovered it... or re-discovered it after aleady using it on wood and plastics for years around the house.

It's called Poly Instafil and is made by LePage.

It comes in small tubs. The image is just about actual size. You can spread it like peanut butter. It dries really quickly and turns to almost a plastic when it is dry.

It's pure white and takes acrylic and oil paints without any problems. Plus it doesn't shrink over time and fall out of holes.

GREAT STUFF!

I just used it to fill the screw holes in m custom ARC fighter.

I know, I was surprised how good the AT RT Driver looked without camo. I have to say he was one of my least fav ROTS figs before.

This is my Stealth Advanced Reconnaissance Craft - SARC.

Funny how a simple black on black paint job seems to take the "albatross" look off this ship.

Now I just need 2 more Black Variant Clone Pilots.

I was priming this AT-RT Driver to prep it for a camo variation, and I though he looked pretty cool just white. So I gave him a Stormtrooper-esque colour scheme.

Thanks CHEWIE. I was kind of disappointed when I saw that there is an orange R4 unit in one of the multi-packs. I guess I can always paint my orange guy another colour.  ;)

Nothing spectacular, just simple repaints, but I really enjoy doing Astromechs. For some people it's Clones, for me it's Astromechs.

Thanks Quazar. The head and body of the smuggler is a Cloud Car Pilot. I painted his hood to look like part of his head. I added gills and goggles with sculpy.

He's based on this guy from the Bounty Hunter video game commercial.

Thanks again for the welcome.

I'm so rude. I forgot to even mention my name is Aaron. :P :)

That's a good idea CHEWIE. But for some reason, when my girlfriend is around, which is always, it annoys her if I am customizing and not talking to her.

I find it odd that if we are watching TV she doesn't consider it a waste of time, but if I am watching TV and customizing she does consider it a waste of time.

Don't get me wrong, she's very supportive of my Star Wars habits, but I also have 2 work contracts to finish and we are in the process of selling our house, so she would rather that I be painting the kitchen than painting a Clone Trooper for some reason.

Go figure.  ;)

*Army Builder 5-packs*

VOTC Stormtrooper x5

POTJ Imperial Officer x5

CW Clone Trooper x5

POTJ Scout Trooper x5

CW ARC Trooper x5

ROTS Neimodian Warrior x5

ROTS SA Clone Trooper x5

SAGA Snowtrooper x5

I think these would fly off the shelves like hot cakes.

EE is already doing something like that with the Stormtrooper, Rebel Commando, Sandtrooper, Astromechs, AOTC Clones x4 Variations etc. Though I'd like to see them do it on a larger scale, like you're suggesting.

I like the idea of an Order 66 pack, but my vote would be for
- Commander Gree
- Commander Cody
- Commander Neyo
- Commander Bacara
- Sidious Hologram

And a Fallen Jedi Pack
- Ki-Adi Mundi
- Aayla Secura
- Adi Gallia
- Zett Jukassa
- Quinlan Vos (why not)  ;)

I'd love to see a fight between those Weequay Soldiers and that Trandoshen Merc!
