Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Rank the Star Wars movies!
« on: May 19, 2003, 12:51 AM »
My ranking is the same essentially as everyone else's.

ESB
ANH (I believe this movie was called Star Wars or something to the effect)
ROTJ (only because of the Luke/Vader/Emperor scenes that saved it from being an abomination - damn Ewoks)
AOTC
TPM

I'm just wondering where you Ewok anti's are for that unleashed thread though.  What, three comments in here at least and not one of you has the gumption to protest thhe Unleashed Ewok ::) ;)

I'll stick my neck out and say I have faith in the Senators.  It's the hot goalie that wins, so I may be dead wrong on this one, given Brodeur is playing well.  The Sens have a lot of guns though and are only up 2-1.  Sens win today and it's back to home ice advantage.

We shall see.

Vic,
as a member of a Canadian Star Wars board, might I be so bold as to extend to you an invitation to post at that board?  The site is called Snowtroopers and can be found here Snowtroopers.  The main page is found at http://www.snowtroopers.ca

I believe a whole lot of fellow Canuckleheads may be suffering from the same misconceptions as I am/was.  A brief explanation over there about how Paizo will operate.  I know the folks that run that site would be more than pleased to see you there.

cheers.

Greetings Vic, thank you for the response to my comments.  I'm pleased you took the time to address those points I brought up.  It was indeed an unexpectedly pleasant surprise.

The price is $28.95 USD for the US, and $39.95 USD for Canada.  At today's exchange rate, that's $55.25 CAD.  I wish it could be lower, but the Canadian Postal Service doesn't let us take  advantage of the special magazine postage rate that the US Post Office offers.
Thank you for a reasonable explanation.  An $11 premium is something I can (well, have to) live with, given I live in Canada.  As opposed to some organizations (hello, KB?) I am pleased to see that the fan club recognizes Canada is not on another planet (excuse the little side jab).

You're talking about the Official e-commerce site run by Wizards of the Coast - their license allows them to sell items to members and non-members alike.  However, the Fan Club is now run by Paizo Publishing.  Items on our site (starwars.paizo.com) are available to Fan Club Members only.

Well there you go.  Now, here's my challenge to you as the new "owners" of the fan club.  Offer me enough from the fan club, that I can get no where else and I'll not only join, but also renew my membership in future.  You'll see my membership shortly given the scenario that I face with the Silver Fett.  Inevitably, it will be cheaper for me to join the fanclub than to head off to the secondary, non-collector market to get the Fett.  But I will be watching you in the future ;)

For those of you who have reservations about joining the Fan Club because of past experience, please be aware that it's under new management, and we've been working hard to make it the best it has ever been.  We've brought back the membership kit for the first time in years; we brought back Bantha Tracks quarterly for members only; we've increased the amount of collecting content in the magazine, including a regular "Toybox" column, where, this month, Hasbro's Andy Espenshade revealed the first photo of the Unleashed Boba Fett.  We've been working hard to deliver more fan interactivity, which you'll read about soon right here at jedidefender.com.  We hear every day that the Insider is better than ever, and we're working to make it even better than that.

And a good start that is.  Hopefully this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship ;D

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Pink Floyd

Comfortably Numb.

Zeppelin is also very, very cool.  Another band that I own pretty much all the albums for.  Well, used to own the albums (and even a couple of 8 tracks) but now CDs.  We were all set to see Zeppelin in Minneapolis back in 1980 and then Bonham went and died.   :-[

Floyd, Zeppelin and Metallica dominate the drawer of cd's at work. :)

The last two vinyl albums I got rid of were the soundtrack to The Wall, that included two extra songs (The Day the Tigers Broke Free and one other, the title I cannot remember).  The first song has since been released on a Floyd disc, the latter has not.  The other disc was the more familiar version of the wall with the white bricks but it was a Japanese master disc, I believe I paid around $50 for.  Gave them both to a friend with similar appreciation for Floyd but greater love of vinyl.

Is anyone else out there a huge fan of FLoyd?  I'm just sitting here surfing and the local rock station is playing the top 97 albums of all time.  The Wall came in at number 88 and I am more than a little apalled.  Granted, it's not hard rock as are the rest of the selections.

I love Floyd and have all of their albums.  The Wall may well be my favorite album of all time.  Anyone else like me out there? :P

Yeah, sorta.  I have the Predator the Hunter figure and the Stealth predator.  Passed on the Aliens and have yet to see the Queen.  Want the other pred, but no luck there yet either.  Nice stuff, but I generally like McFarlane's less twisted stuff (eg. sports, not wizard of Oz). :o

Grabbed the Predator the Hunter figure today.  No deluxe Queen around here either.  Puppy alien didn't do much for me, nor did regular alien.  Maybe on clearance.

Matt, you big chicken.

Pretty much everyone I know, knows of my obsession.  Many except for a few, and the people at work, aren't quite aware of the extent.  None the less, all are aware I am a severe geek.  One guy thinks it's a complete waste of money, which is correct, but who cares, it makes me happy.

Non-work friends have seen some of it.  The room is not currently in progress, but there's no hiding it.  From the helmet on the monitor (and playskool biker scout and Vader) to Ephant Mon on the printer to the unleashed on the bookshelf.  The Vader standup and the R2 on the floor plus the 150 open figures.  Can't really miss it if you come into the room.

Work people are all too aware and get tremendously dissappointed I don't come dressed for Halloween.  For about 18 months now there have been 1-6 boxes showing up per week for me, so it would be silly to hide it.  But it isn't all that accepted.  They love my Simpsons stuff and go crazy when I put a new McFarlane goalie up, but the SW stuff is so so in terms of reactions.  A new guy started last year that loves star wars as well and I pretty much hooked him into collecting.  So far, just blue boxed stuff (SAGA) but I'm working on my padawan.  Good to have another geek around.

Best man at my wedding has a six year old into McFarlane stuff and a four year old into Star Wars.  Uncle Brent is a pretty cool guy in their eyes.  He's my regular golfing buddy, so he knows I'm not totally nuts.

I've been a collector forever.  From childhood with GI Joes through bottle caps to cards to comics to Star Wars and bugs, I collect, therefore I am.

Power of the Force 2 / Re: Favorite Ship
« on: May 14, 2003, 11:21 PM »
I'd have to say my current favorite ship today would be the AT-AT.  It's just enormous, has awesome sound effects, and comes with 2 awesome figures (General Veers and AT-AT Driver).

I'm right there with you on this one.  It was hard for me to find, and at a reasonable price too.  Maybe those two are related somehow given that I passed on all the ships initially ::)

This is just a cool, cool vehicle.  Huge, maybe not quite to scale, but just awesome.  Goes well with the Action Fleet and Tomy versions for a display.

got the AT-AT and T-16 for $70 Cdn shipped ;D
