Works for me, though I relish the thought of an all Canadian Stanley Cup.  Not good for ratings though (maybe nothing is?).

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Bar's open! What'll you have...?

I'll never forget my last week of College when I discovered the fruity goodness of the Granny Smith variety...Barkeep, send me down a nice one  :P

Ug.  Coolers.  Not good.  Not bad in the general sense, but...

Shortly after I returned from Australia, I went out with a bunch of buddies to a local watering hole.  They had a contest running in which you got a coaster for each drink you consumed.  At the end of the night, they auctioned off a $50 gift certificate.  Well, the auction started reasonably with tables bidding 1, 2, 4, 8 and so on.  Our first and final bid (there were six of us) was 74!  It came out sounding more like thefty whore, but they counted them up anyway.

Problem was, you were supposed to take the GC, go home and come back another time.  Being marginally loaded ::) and freshly back from Aus, my buddies cooked up a story about me being from there and this was my last night in Canada.  They relented and let us use the GC.  What did we order?  Triple Gin and wildberry coolers.  we used the wildberry coolers as mix for the gin.   :-\

Me no like coolers.

Yeah, coffee and tea are caffeinated, though tea seems to be going whole hog herbal with caffeine being less common.  I'm sure it's just a matter of time before they make caffeine illegal (health nannies will get ya).

We have Jolt cola, do you?  All the sugar and twice the caffeine was the advertising line for it.  Sells very well on university campuses.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: What did you want to be growing up?
« on: May 7, 2003, 11:55 PM »
Wondering if anyone would ask about that.

Apparently, when I was very, very young (3-ish, roughly a millenium or so ago), an uncle asked what I wanted to be when I grew up.  I believe I had told my mother I wanted to be a fireman, but when asked by the uncle, I replied firetruck.

Fireman would have been more accurate.  I tried out, but there is one test they have involving lifting a 60 pound ladder off the wall at shoulder height with straight arms.  You must do it without your heels coming off the ground.  It's an exercise in both strength and technique.  At the time I was short on both.  There wasn't another recruiting class for about 3 years, so I went back to school and became a bugger.  Damn close to being what I thought I wanted at 3 years old.

Still a quarter left.  Too early to celebrate that one.  I hope they win, but too soon to start rubbing that in yet.  A team like the Lakers could erase 30 points pretty quick, not that the Spurs are any slouch at D though.

Probably ought to be slapping Canada Post.  I suspect it means it has left (finally) Canada, ergo they consider it delivered.  No worries, they're probably just ticked cuz it weighs so much.  Heh.

Episode 1 / Re: The Original "Midnight Madness"
« on: May 7, 2003, 11:47 PM »
I passed on midnight madness in 1999.  Only TRU did it up here and I had no interest.  Actually, my whole collecting interest had waned a fair bit by then.

I opted to go to Walmart the next morning in a town of about 10000 people.  Everything was there and easy to find.  Lots of stuff gone, but I picked up one of everything and two of Maul.  Me and one other guy in the aisle.  Quite serene it was.

There was no midnight madness up here at all for AOTC.  Most figures had already been leaked out by TRU.

For the life of me, I could not get any stores to part with the Frito Lay promotional material.  Annoyed the hell out of me (and me them).

I have one standup.  It's from 1997 and it's the Star Wars Trilogy - The original one last time.  Has the large Vader head in the background with an X-wing firing on what seems to be Vader's Tie.  Small segment of the death star sticks out in front.  Quite nice really.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Silver Fett and Clonetrooper coming...
« on: May 7, 2003, 11:36 PM »
Well, since I was fortunate enough to get Vader and had lots of help getting R2, I "need" to get the Fett so the set remains complete.  I like the Fett idea, but clonetrooper?  That's not a misprint of stormtrooper is it?  The latter would probably look pretty sweet.  I really like the cards they are on.  Very nice.

If he's the wrong crowd, I like him already. ;D

You invited me?  Are you sure ;)

I think the only person that truly regrets your inviting me is grumpy ewok.   :P

Tomorrow mostly because the idiots that schedule never thought it would go to game 7.  Also, they had the extra day off in between.  Pure genious.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo 64, X-Boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, video tape movies, surround sound,  personal cell phones, personal computers, or Internet chat rooms.

Well, as soon as all this stuff came out, I bet you got it.  ::)

Actually, No.

I do indeed own an N-64, but it was the star wars podrace version on clearance (birthday gift from the wife because it said star wars :)).  It sits behind the bar and comes out twice a year when my nephew comes into town.  We play perfect dark and drink beer together.  We own a grand sum of five games.  Super Mario, Mario Kart, Mario Golf, Perfect Dark and the game it came with.

I do indeed own a computer (D'oh) but the first was purchased for University, an old Mac.  No home internet connection until about 3-4 years ago.  You can indeed find me in the chat room here.

I have a cell phone.  It is paid for by work and largely (i.e 95% plus) used for that only.  Other use is to tell the boss (my wife) when I'll be home.

Yep to surround sound and a VCR.  But I am 39.  My family got their first VCR when I was 20.  We got cable (mostly so I could watch basketball playoffs) when I hit grade 10, or about 15 years old.  I believe we had a whopping 13 channels at the time, one of them French.  We currently have 39 channels in our house.  No digital receiver for the pay per view movies or the like.  Actually, my television viewing is pretty restricted these days.  Mostly I play with my daughter.  Outside.   :)

Ooh, multi-piece death star hangar :o

Large enough to accomodate a shuttle or the falcon?  Opening blast doors to throw Obi and Vader behind?  Stormies on one side, Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie and the droids on the other?

Oh my.
