« on: May 23, 2003, 04:08 PM »
there's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking like an idiot.   :P

Sorry, don't remember the movie, but I haven't the patience for fishing, especially where I am down south.  Taking a whole day to catch your limit?  Yawn.  Got spoiled by my father-in-law (rest his soul) up north where you'd catch your limit of considerably larger fish in an hour or less.

Too much else to do and I don't like paying people to do the work I should and can do myself.  Yard, house, car.

How about Alien vs Terminator vs Predator vs Alf vs Howard the Duck vs She Hulk vs Shania Twain in a battle royale

I'll go with Shania :-*

I'd pick the She-Hulk in that one.

Go Green or go home (thought the Shania special that was on earlier makes the picking harder) ;D

On the other hand I did use my plastic little army men as Nazis and had them fight the US and had some great battles with Naplam and other stuff. ;D

Heh, yep, lighter fluid and in the glory days, firecrackers.  Used the cheaper models for those.  Quite entertaining though I recall the fumes as being rather toxic.  Tragically, firecrackers are illegal in Canada now.

The Original Trilogy / Re: Next question, light saber colors

Good suggestions, but there has to be something concrete out there, maybe in one of the books.  Thanks for the answers though.

This is where the Floyd albums ended up on the station I was listening to that initiated this thread.  I made an error regarding The Wall and think they redeemed themselves nicely with the placement.

45 Wish You Were Here
10 Dark Side of the Moon
7  The Wall

Here's the top 25, if you care to debate (or not)
25 Siamese Dream         Smashing Pumpkins
24 My Own Prison           Creed
23 Silver Side Up             Nickelback
22 Beggars Banquet       Rolling Stones
21 Paranoid                     Black Sabbath
20 Dirt                             Alice In Chains
19 Picture Of Health        Headstones
18 Highway To Hell          AC/DC
17 Are You Experienced   Jimi Hendrix
16 Smash                         Offspring
15 Core                            Stone Temple Pilots
14 Road Apples                Tragically Hip
13 II                                 Led Zeppelin
12 Blood Sugar Sex Magik Red Hot Chili Peppers
11 Superunknown            Soundgarden
10 Dark Side Of The Moon  Pink Floyd
  9 Dookie                          Green Day
  8 Metallica                       Metallica
  7 The Wall                       Pink Floyd
  6 The Joshua Tree           U2
  5 Back In Black                AC/DC
4 Up To Here                   Tragically Hip
  3 Ten                               Pearl Jam
  2  IV                                Led Zeppelin
  1 Nevermind                    Nirvana

The rest can be found here http://www.power97.com/station/power97_albums.cfm

I'm not that big a fan of Nirvana, but I guess after Rolling Stone went with it, everybody feels compelled to as well.

Funny thing being a tad older than you guys.  My main drawing days were pre-SW so at that time I was absolutely fascinated (and not even remotely understanding the horror of) with WWII.  All I drew were pictures of the British fighting the Nazis.  Planes, ships, tanks, infantry, submarines, scuba divers, you name it, I drew it.

Sad commentary:  were a kid to draw now what I drew then, I suspect they would be in for some serious long term counseling.  Fascination with war, particularly Nazi military machines (spent my youth building Tamiya model kits, predominantly German), weaponry.  Yup, sign him up for remedial politically correct behaviour classes.  And be careful he doesn't go postal.

I suspect SW gets a pass because it is fantasy.   Glad that it is and does.  Nice piece up there, very reminiscent of the old drawings I did.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: How Long Will Hasbro Make 3 3/4"
« on: May 21, 2003, 08:39 PM »
2005 is next movie?  3 3/4 dies after Christmas of that year.  Done, fini.  Look at this year, how's distribution around you?  Pretty crappy huh?  Same things going to happen after Ep 3 unless George realizes what the fans really want.  Ep 2 was spectacular in many respects but the love story sucked, for guys and girls.  Point of fact is I have yet to meet anyone that enjoyed that aspect.  Leia/Han style is all that is necessary.

If Ep 3 is same, you can bet figure distribution/production will cease relatively quickly.  Maybe we'll be lucky and see it ramp up again in late summer 2006 for Christmas season.  Four months of SW figs then blech, nada.

6" figs a la McFarlane/unleashed style but more functional/posable?  I could see it happening, though sales of Epic Force and Unleashed make me mildly skeptical.  If they can produce in lower numbers for the collector market and target that intelligently, it could well work.  Then maybe they could put out a scale Millenium Falcon for your 6" Han and Chewie figs.  Oh sure, you'd need to take the door off to get it in the house, but who'd complain about that (other than your spouse)? ;)

The Original Trilogy / Next question, light saber colors
« on: May 21, 2003, 08:28 PM »
OK, as I understand it, the light saber blade color is related to the particular power source used for the saber itself.  This is related to the choice made by the Jedi in question.

The real question I have, and I'm certain it's been answered a million times before, but I'm just too lazy (comes with age) is why are Sith saber blades always red?

I know I should know, but I don't. :-[

The Original Trilogy / Re: Where'd the AT-AT go?
« on: May 21, 2003, 08:25 PM »
I'd love to see some AT-AT's blow up the Redwoods.  I'd rather see them blow up some Ewoks though!   ;D

I love you guys :'( ;)

Good points.  No doubt those babies move really, really poorly in a forested area.  The AT-ST's simply make more sense.  Just something I thought about (apparently briefly) while watching the movie.
