Aw Matt, see, you are to blame.  Without your post, mine would have been nothing more than curious.  Hey, how are those Lakers doing ;) ;D

Hi, my name is Brent.  I too have a problem.  Oh, not with Star Wars, with those pesky little furballs called Ewoks ;)

Hoth?  Isn't it supposed to be cold there?  How could someone so far south be cold ;)

Welcome he who has suffered as much as Vikings fans.

Very good to see you here, DCV... Over here, I'm just Brad, Ewok spokesman.  ;)

Greetings and welcome.  I am the bane of Brad's existence.  Well, Matt's too.  Maybe a few others as well :P

Hey, I never promised I wouldn't say anthing Mr. TBM. ;D

And all I did was hint at the cause, I never revealed nuttin' :-*  I mentioned a ceiling fan as an early B-day present, nothing more.  Jim had ample opportunity to lie, he just chose not to take it.  No dark side in that padawan.  Much to learn, has he.

Yep, I missed on the Super Bowl sets too.  Just not going to part with that kind of money.  I know one of the guys that was in the lucky 100 though.  He deserved to be there too.  Same guy that got me into collecting them.

I don't even look at the exclusives because I know I'll simply never see them.  Too bad, some are cool.  I won't get mad about it though until there is a hockey exclusive.  That will be painful.  Shouldn't complain too much though as we see all of the hockey exclusives up here.  Oly sets, TML 3 pack, 2-2packs, now NHL5.  Of course that just offsets all the SW contests I can never, ever enter because of my Canucklehead status.

All of football is ridiculous.  It's just insane.  The difficulty is figuring out (guessing) whether it will be worthwhile to order cases of NFL6 and 7 just to drop on ebay.  Funding the Star Wars (and hockey) habit by use of McFarlane football.

and before anyone craps on me for scalping (which would indeed be correct in a sense) go spend a week reading the mcfarlane board.  It is a whole different world over there and ebay prices rule.  You end up making friends and helping each other out, but by and large, ebay sets the prices.  I'd dearly love to have a 49ers Rice to open and display but he was near $100 from the get go and never came down.  No way am I paying that for a figure like that.

I have two of the repaints and those are the most I've ever paid for single figs.  I got a great deal from one guy (also a SW collector, almost former collector) on the Roy repaint for around $50 US and found the repaint Cujo for $75 Cdn in town.  Most recent sales of those two on ebay were between $110-130 US each.

I managed to get two cases of NHL5 from a site that has already shut down taking orders.  Lots of good reason to be a regular customer ;D

Gas or electric?  And whatchou got to trade?

I'll let Jim explain the ceiling fan as an early gift himself, though I know Matt knows the story already.   ;)

Dang! 31!?  I've been trading with a younger man who's been lying to me about his age :o

Happy birthday punk, hope you enjoy the ceiling fan you got as an early present ;)

Regarding Sehorn, yes, production was very low on him.  The catch being that unlike others with low production, the high demand simply isn't there that much.  Urlacher was produced more, so was Vick.

I have a degree of skepticism about sportspicks.  They are extremely hot right now, but like anything, I expect them to decrease in value.

I'm sorry Scott, were you saying you needed more of my comics? ;D

Hinske is even less common than that.  I had the great good fortune ::) of being around as a Walmart employee put out three cases.  Only two variants, which I still have, and precisely zero Hinske.

McFarlane pack ratios are truly a mystery.  The most rare figure from NFL4 is Sehorn, or so it was reported by staff on that board.

Yeah, similar commute in White Rock on the wet coast.  Two hours if you time it poorly to go 45 km.  7-8 months of the year I'm good to go.  110 KPH there and back.  The other 4 months are pretty much a test to see if God is done with me yet.  Winters are not nice here and the roads are down right miserable.  Still, what would you expect for the bald, flat prairie.

Regarding house size/price, yeah, I'm spoiled.  Our market is hot too, could sell this place for about 180K now, problem is finding somewhere to live.  Took long enough, but we finally got hot too.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Who's your hero?
« on: May 20, 2003, 11:55 PM »
Same for Scott and Carrie.  Life is no fun, especially not at the end.  My mom passed away almost 4 years ago and she would have been my hero.

My dad and all the uncles and aunts are heros too.  They teach so much and do it with love and patience.  I only hope to be as good as they were for my daughter.

I don't think I have heroes outside that group, or at least I'm not prepared to look past anyone's flaws other than those in the family.  For me, it's a case of respect or not.  As I've aged, become more and more educated and questioned everything, I have found so many things, causes and people leave me empty due to the untruths and outright lies that family is what I trust.

Some friends are exceptional, notably one.  He was the best man at my wedding.  Great guy, met him/worked with him about the same time I met my wife.  He has always been an exceptional person, above all else he is fair.  He only asks his employees to be honest and work hard to do their best.  Lie, cheat or steal and he'll boot you out on your a$$.  Work hard and he'll give you the shirt off his back.  He's an exceptional father and a good husband.  Good golfer and can he pound beer ;D  I'm pleased to call him my friend and think that emulating his behaviour is a worthwhile thing to do.  Plus his younger kid is into Star Wars so I'm going to corrupt him big time.   ;)

Yep, as well you should. ;)  I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but we paid 130K for a 1900 sq ft house on a 60x120 lot with a pool ;D

Glad you were able to find something prior to the re-nutifying of the TO market.  If it's any consolation, I commute an hour (96 km) to work everyday thanks to government decentralization insanity.   >:(  Like I need to pay $5K a year in gas costs (and either way, my wife or I commute, so it's unavoidable unless one of us quits) :-\
