Im so glad I looked at those pics.  Now I know that I DON"T need to try to get the stupid chase figures.  They are the same EVERYTHING except silver accents on the package, silver base, silver holo, and a little sticker.  They are even numbered the same.  Avoided a nightmare there.  Thank you Sir Steve!

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Boring characters... but want to see made.
« on: February 11, 2006, 07:02 PM »
what about padme in her black **** outfit ...that'd be cool.
what about dak? from the snowspeeder...of course it took this long to get a carded wedge.
what about the happy band of 4 in the trash compactor?  All grimy and stuff.  That'd be sort of cool with the saga background
what about more cantina and more jabbas palace aliens from the background.
What about human looking alien that seems to be well-chested (most politically orrect term I could think of, sorry) walking up the stairs in the opera house of EpiIII (she has a head like an alien ya, know, cone headish)
what about the female droid from Epi III when the senators meet Obi-Wan

I basically think any character in the background should be made...and every main character in all different outfits.  That would take a few years, but keep the line alive, collectors happy, etc

Padme has like a million outfits from episode I at least. Maybe I'd draw the line at padme giving bith...that might upset a few people :)

Saga Collection '06 / Re: George Lucas in Stormtrooper Disguise.
« on: February 11, 2006, 06:24 PM »
I'm assuming 2 things here:

That you just need to send in 5 proofs of purchase from the outer casings of the figures.  That means you could buy all Scout troopers if you wanted to.  I don't think they would individualize the stickers b/c that would just take more work (and cost) for them.  Seems reasonable to assume.

And that the Lucas Stormtrooper is carded on a Vintage style card.  That's why he's considered VOTC.  If not, I definitely won't purchase it anyway, b/c I like all my figures carded.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: 80 figures for 2006?
« on: February 11, 2006, 06:18 PM »
This could be close to true if you count:

Basic Saga waves:  57 figures announced
HOF2 wave:  12 figures announced
Demise of Grievous:  1 figure announced
VOTC:  5 figures announced

That comes to 75 figures...
maybe we'll get 5 more VOTC to make it 80 (why not, there were 12 original VOTC.  Thats 4 from each movie, 3 new ones for ANH, 2 new ones for ROTJ announced)  Just add the send in Lucas Stormtrooper (no movie) and 3 from ESB and 1 from ROTJ and we have 80 figures, the same amount of VOTC from the 3 movies, and the Lucas "extra" figure.

Sounds about right to me.  I think basic just means carded 3 3/4" figures.

So we are thinking that these are the exact same figures in the exact same packaging, not numbered differently (same numbers as predecessors) EXCEPT the stupid holo in the back is silver, the base will be silver, and there will be a foil sticker somewhere on the card?  I'd like to see a picture.  I could see purchasing these if they were not numbered and the actual figure was maybe silver (b/c I'm a sucker for silver figures) or if the card was completely different, but...

Saga Collection '06 / Re: SAGA2 HOF waves? (GREATEST HITS WAVE)
« on: February 11, 2006, 01:26 PM »
I'm guessing there will only be 1 wave of these (aka 12 figures) just like the HOF wave from Saga.  Its probably just to get rid of figures they produced in excess.  They won't be numbered, but I guess I'll get them because they will probably look good on the packaging and I try to get one of every figure (not all variations, but if they are numbered or considered a special type of wave, I get them b/c I'm obssessive compulsive).  Anyway, I think we can rest assured that they will not be followed by another wave of HOF

Collector's Tips / Re: Displaying
« on: January 29, 2006, 10:46 AM »
I use clear pushpins and basically firm up the figure against the wall.  Do you guys do this or do you actually hang the figures on the pushpins?  I suppose my way could indent the cardboard a little, but I'm afraid that hanging them on the pins might not look as neat.  you know, weight differences and cards not hanging straight, etc.  Any thoughts?

Collector's Tips / removing stickers from card/bubble
« on: January 29, 2006, 10:41 AM »
I had 2 questions that I can't seem to find answers for anywhere else.  The first is how to remove some price stickers from the cardboard (and in one or 2 cases from the actual bubble) and remove the sticky residue safely.  The second is a little different.  I sometimes have to purchase a figure from R2-DToys because I can't find it here.  Usually it comes with a foreign "sticker" on the back and on the bottom of the bubble.  And usually it just peals right off, no tearing or anything.  I have one that seems to have gotten really gooey though on the bottom of the bubble on a clone wars figure.  Any type of solvent to get this stuff off without dissolving the damn bubble??  Thanks!

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: all vintage figs into VOTC?? :)
« on: January 28, 2006, 01:08 PM »
Actually upon better counting (using the figure lists here for ANH, ESB, ROTJ, and POTF1), I come up with

21 unique figures to ANH
29 NEW figures for ESB
37 NEW figures for ROTJ
12 NEW figures for POTF1

So basically there are 99 figures.  Subtract 12 already on VOTC cards, and 5 coming out.  Hasbro only needs to make 82 more figures...definitely possible.  Feel free to check my numbers.  I'm just eliminating repacks of old figures on new cards.

Original Trilogy Collection / all vintage figs into VOTC?? :)
« on: January 28, 2006, 12:48 PM »
Just curious if anyone else out there thinks Hasbro might be slowly remaking all the carded vintage figures into VOTC figures.  It seems like it would be doable since the contract has been extended so long.  You figure if they do like 10 to 12 figures a year it would only take ~10 years.  My completely unaccurate count comes up with 98 total vintage figures (not counting recards of the same figure for each movie, unless the figure was different somehow, i.e. 1 vader, not 3, etc).

We already have 12, so that knocks us down to 86.  There are 5 more announced for this year (so far).  That makes 81 to go!  Perhaps they are deciding which cards to put each figure on to make it roughly the same number of figures per original trilogy movie...

If this isn't true (and I'm just totally guessing here).  Maybe they should consider doing it for use collectors!  Wouldn't it rock to have every vintage figure redone and carded VOTC?  Someone with more pull than me should bring this idea up with Hasbro!!  Hint, Hint..
