Toy Reviews / Interactive R2D2
« on: November 24, 2002, 04:33 PM »
Well I got my Interactive R2D2 from the US. This thing is big. They have started to show up at TRU & retail for $179.99 CDN.
16" high by 9" wide & 21" in diameter.
Requires 4 AAA & 4 D size batteries.

It takes some time getting use to the commands. Once I got him going I was amazed at what it could do. Lets just say he beeps & clicks.  ;)

I had him moving around on the kitchen floor. He does move well on rugs but I have cats & the cat hairs I am afraid will get caught in the legs. Best to stay on a smooth surface. I had him going in circles & bumping off walls.

As for commands, he responds very well. I mention SW names, eg: Luke, C-3PO, Han, & he reponds with beeps & clicks. His head turns also. When I mention Darth Vader, he freaks out by screaming  & starts playing the Imperial march. Jabba was a gas & Jawa, well he went balistic. Princess Leia was nice & he played a phrase in her voice. I had him playing the Cantina music but I cannot remember how I did that. I have to try more commands & find the hidden ones that I have heard about. He does shake his head back & forth as to saying no to certain things.

The commands must be done in a certain order for the proper responce. When I have more free time, I will keep you posted.

If others have this R2 unit, please post with your reviews on this very well made & fun Automaton.

How hard was it to find R2-B1 & TC-14?
I have never seen them in stores in Canada.  :(
I landed up getting both off Ebay at $20. each.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

This post is similar to the one's over at GH & RS forums. After you see the word last posted, post the first word that comes to mind. This is a game that just keeps going by the looks of it.

I will start it off.

As the title mentions, What do you collect?
Do you collect loose, carded, MISB, figures or vehicles & playsets?
I my self collect all of the above. I started to collect loose but have now focused on upgrading. I do have some figures carded as well as vehicles & playsets.
My loose figure collection is complete with some variations.
I would like to get more variations as time goes on.

So tell us what you collect.  :)

I found R2 while I was looking around for images on I just happened to click on the image & when the page loaded, this liitle R2 was dancing. I thought it was very good so I made it my avatar. What site it actually came from is unknown to me.
I am still looking to see if there are anymore gif's like this in other SW characters. Would be interesting to see.  ;)

I must say, that is alot of great figures in one package.
Though it would be better to break them up individually, than to sell in one bulk load. Not alot of people have that kind of $$$ to spend. There are collectors looking to complete there set's but only certain figures.

Out of the 14 figures he has, I have 2. Not much but at least I can get the ones I can afford one at a time.
It will be interesting to see how high it goes.

From the pictures I have seen, Dengar and Zuckuss are on my list.  Glad you got them.  :)
