Watto's Junk Yard / Re: A Game of Thrones (HBO)

This week's episode will be just Brann is the producer's basement since they have no money from the FX budget left.   :D

I think that is why half of this season was Tyrion in Meereen just talking and Ayra in a room training with The Waif.

I heard next season might only be seven episodes.  I hope that means they cut out all the pointless talking and spend a ten episode budget on just seven episodes with plenty of action.

Rogue One / Re: Rogue One Toy Rumors
« on: June 22, 2016, 10:28 AM »
I think there are two things we're talking about:
1 - a kid oriented environment/playset
2 - collector oriented environment/display

I get it that maybe #1 doesn't have a huge market, but I'm surprised Hasbro/Disney hasn't sub-licensed the collector oriented environment/display, maybe even as a shared exclusive for EE or someplace.

I know there have been a few marginal attempts at this over the years, but as I recall the price points were crazy high (someone refresh my memory on the company and price point - I think they were $100+ and not modular - sort of like nice reproductions of some of the classic mail away displays).

I find it hard to believe that someone couldn't engineer and produce a semi-generic Death Star / Star Destroyer / Blockade Runner / Starkiller Base hallway environments at a reasonable price.  I know some 3D printer garage shop guys have done hallway environments, but this needs to be an injection molded higher run product that gets distributed through a professional company.  I know I would likely buy a handful of these to act as stands and display environments.  How many of us have bought hundreds of Hasbro and non-Hasbro stands to display our figures???

Back in the day Kenner got halfway there with their mail away Arena Display.  Something like this concept with some vertical supports that could allow you to stack them and build environments couldn't be that hard to pull off.

I'm sure some kids would buy them too, especially if you were clever about how accessories and other items could plug in to the environment.  You could make them a mail away and online shared exclusive.  And they could be refreshed with new accessories or inserts with each new movie.  For example, it looks like a chunk of Rogue One is taking place inside of Star Destroyers and the Death Star.

This seems like a no-brainer.

Where is EE when you need them?  I'm guessing Hasbro just won't let anyone do this.

The Force Awakens / Re: Retail Prices/Sales/Discounts

What are people's general experiences buying from "tunghori" on eBay?  I'm tempted to buy the latest wave of WM figures from him, but not sure what the paint quality is likely to be considering how crappy the factory accepted versions of this line have been.  Does he do a fairly good job of screening for quality?

Rogue One / Re: Rogue One Toy Rumors

Third tier characters like Goss Toowers, PZ-4CO, Zuvio, etc seem like they might get a little less love from Hasbro this time around.

I just hope that Hasbro doesn't take this as, "Why should we release the Tonnika Sisters or Sim Aloo.  Background characters don't sell."  I believe fans would prefer those characters from the OT and PT than the NT.

I just think their character mix was off.  Too many background characters packed with not enough heroes.

For the most part I appreciate all the blink and you miss them characters they created for us, but they needed more Rey, Chewie, Kylo Ren, etc. mixed in.  You almost never saw those figures on the pegs, and if you did they didn't last for more than a day before they were snapped up.

I hope with all the new movies coming in rapid succession they find a way to have a constantly evolving mix of heroes, background characters, OT, PT, ST, Rebels, Clone Wars, and EU all thrown together.  I think if they try and have individual lines for each successive movie they risk missing the mark with the short window they'll have between movies.

Awesome war scene with the horses and men crashing in to each other all around Jon.

I'll be interested to see if some of the other houses that have left the Stark fold will come back now that they've retaken Winterfell, and if the Tulleys are able to join forces as well.  I'm not sure what Jamie's army is doing now that they have captured Riverrun.  I kind of got the feeling that they were going to turn it over to the Freys or the Tulleys (assuming they were going to have the castle be loyal to King's Landing) and head back south.

That was an amazing episode not only for the battle of the bastards, but also for the speed in which things wrapped up in Mereen.  It seems like they've spent the whole season doing close to nothing there (other than lots of talking) and in a matter of eight minutes they defeat the masters/harpys and Dany agrees to an alliance with Theon and crew.

I'll be interested to see how they wrap up the season (lots of previews around King's Landing) and if we get some kind of cliffhanger.

It was a few weeks ago after the premier that I saw some photos from a premier event in London or wherever, and they had lots of photos of the cast.  I needed a cheat sheet on a few, and others blew me away.

Half the characters in the show are made to look dirty, disheveled, etc.  The character Gilly was one of the ones that surprised me as well.  She looks homely in the show with her burlap clothes and mud smeared face, but she is actually fairly cute when cleaned up.

I haven't personally seen these figures yet, but they sound super cool.  I'll probably pick up a few in the coming months.

It is too bad that Hasbro couldn't do something awe inspiring like this with something like The Black Series Wal-Mart exclusive line.  Even bump it up to $20 a figure for a handful of totally awesome figures.  I would rather pay $20 for something sweet than $14 for the mediocre TBS WM figures with awful paint apps.

I'm pretty sure these guys used to be contract designers for hasbro. I thought I read that someplace. I think they might have done part of the saga line.

So hasbro *could* do it if they were willing to pay the design team and the manufacturing costs.  Hasbro has simply chosen not to do it to save money and hit a certain price point.

I just pulled the trigger this morning too but ordered from BBTS.  They say its in stock for $120 plus $6 shipping.  Slightly cheaper.

The Wookiee Arcade / Re: Topps Star Wars Card Trader App
« on: June 7, 2016, 03:31 PM »
The only other option is to start from scratch on the new phone and transfer 8,000+ cards to my new account 9 at a time. ::)

Topps will likely shut you down long before you finish transferring just your good cards.  I was preferentially trading some cards with my kids and they shut down most of my accounts.  Greedy bastards.

One of these days I need to figure out if there is a decent way for me to cash out some of my better sets and be done with this app as well.

Anybody have any idea if this wave or Hux/Asty will ship again?  And am I stupid for holding out hope that I'll ever see these figures at retail?

Everything with Arya the past two seasons feels like a complete waste of time now. How do they give one of the best characters the absolute crappiest storyline? Get her back to Westeros kicking ass please.

It'll be interesting to see how the whole Braavos storyline ultimately plays out.  I agree.  This might turn out to be the largest waste of screen time in the series.

Star Wars Anthology / Re: Rogue One (SPOILERS)
« on: May 31, 2016, 03:05 PM »
My only guess is that the rebels worked in cells, Leia's cell heard about walkers but never faced them, whereas Mon Mothma's might.

Pretty sure Leia saw AT-ATs before (see: Star Wars Rebels episode: A Princess on Lothal).   :D

Or the fact that an AT-AT isn't fundamentally different from an AT-TE from the Clone Wars.

I'm guessing we're not supposed to overthink any of this as X-Wings work in the absolute zero of space, and they work in normal atmospheres, so there shouldn't have been anything different about Hoth that would have prevented them from attacking an AT-AT.  And if a squad of X-Wings can take out a Star Destroyer than I would think they could take out an AT-AT.

Is Sunday's show the first time nobody (other than zombies) got killed?  It felt kind of wrong not to have someone die.

Lots of story lines left out this week too.  Definitely a different vibe to Sunday's show.

The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: 6" Black Series Rumors

Do we have any idea if the DCPI # at Target is carrying over for 6" figures from TFA to this fall's likely release of Rogue One assortments?
