I'm looking to give one of my Carbonite Han Solos a gunbelt, but am not sure of the best way to go about it. I might wind up trying to make one out of some kind of putty, but I've seen some customs with borrowed gunbelts before.

Obviously the VOTC and new VTSC Hans have great belts if you can afford to borrow one, but I don't even have one of either of those figures yet (though I plan to), much less multiples to customize with. So I'm wondering if there are some other places I could get a gunbelt/holster or parts to make one.

Ideally I'd like to be able to fit a blaster in there- something like a Saga Bespin Luke blaster or Cantina Han blaster, ideally.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :) I'm sorry I keep posting questions instead of finished customs- I've got three boring customs complete as of today (a boring traditional Jedi outfit Luke, a repainted Millenium Falcon Chewie with enhanced accessories, and a "Hantrooper"), but I'm waiting to take some decent pictures and post stuff until I get something a little schnazzier done, like the Mara or better Jedi garb Luke I'm working on.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Chase/UGH figures: what's the big deal?
« on: April 11, 2006, 11:10 PM »
Not to ask a stupid question, and I appreciate your answers, but... if it's the "Ultimate Galactic Hunt," what exactly is being hunted? "I'm on the ultimate galactic hunt for this figure, hoho!"

I suppose it could be deemed the Unneccesay Galactic Hunt :P

I still like those vacuum-metallized stands though. Wish they made  the normal ones like that...

Star Wars Universe / Re: Why didn't Vader Clone Padme
« on: April 11, 2006, 09:49 PM »
Well, it wouldn't really be the same. Even if she were conditioned and behaved just like Padme it would always be "someone else" as it were. Hope that makes sense :/

Of course, a deranged/obsessed person or a more materialistic person might go ahead and do it just for a facsimile, but that would seem outside Vader/Anakin's character I think.

My question though, is why Palpatine didn't clone Vader and replace him... he's a shifty, evil enough dude, and theoretically a clone would've had all of Vader's skill in the force, a healthy body (instead of a completely amputated one in a breathing suit) plus Palpatine could've conditioned him from scratch- nixing any chances of what happened in ROTJ. :) That would suck of course, but seems like something Palpatine would do- as one book put it he pretty much saw everyone and everything as a means to an end.

Perhaps he thought having the Anakin, and the statement of his descent into the darkside and the extent of his rage, was worthwhile enough. After all, the dark side is all about rage and hatred- as you see in the way Palpatine goads Luke on in ROTJ.

One theory would also say that Palpatine didn't have access to cloning technology outright since the clone army came from Kamino, but surely he could've siezed the place and stolen it, I think. The Expanded Universe, though many movie fans disregard it, states (according to the Thrawn Trilogy at least) that Palpatine had some stolen cloning cylinders stockpiled in a secret warehouse with other interesting junk, but wasn't clear how much he used them. I believe the Dark Empire comics plot revolves around Palpatine cloning himself and transferring his soul to new bodies, though.

And another technical quandry is bought up by the Thrawn trilogy that, oddly enough, might explain why Vader was never cloned; it says many early attempts at clones didn't think or function properly unless they were grown very slowly (and, incidentally, the army of the republic was growing for at least 10 years IIRC). Thrawn found a way around it by using Ysalamiri, which repel the force, to keep the force from affecting the clones- the problem was that two identical entitites caused problems with the force and thus drove the clone mad. But obviously that wouldn't be so good for cloning a Sith Lord- then they probably couldn't use the force at all!

One further bit of coincidental technical information I can garner from the Thrawn trilogy on this subject is the existance of Joruus C'Baoth, a mad clone of a Jedi killed a few years before the Clone Wars. I'm not sure but I kind of got the impression Palpatine was the one who cloned him- that would make sense if he was an experiment to see if he could use the same method on Vader, eh?

Anyway, sorry for the lengthy speech, hope it helps you think some. :)

Power of the Jedi / Re: Best POTJ Fig?
« on: April 11, 2006, 06:56 PM »
I have astoundingly few POTJ figures, and am looking to buy some more in the future. As it is I own 4 and have two favories :P Death Star Escape Han is purely for kitbash fodder, and while she's a fairly good figure, Bespin Escape Leia (what's with all the escaping? In 2000 it was escaping, in 2006 it's battles, I guess) is not quite a favorite.

While FX-7 isn't the most exciting character ever, I have to admit it'd be hard to make a better version of him. Each and every arm articulated with two joints! And the turning middle and removeable upper arm. This figure is great; it makes an "interesting prop" character fun, and is a perfect and complete representation of him. Can't ask for much more.

Millenium Falcon Mechanic Chewbacca, while rereleased almost as much as Cantina Han, is a pretty good figure and made great strides in Chewie sculpting and height. He's multipurpose and looks pretty good. He's been outdone more than once since, but he's the best Chewbacca in my collection so far and I like him.

*shrugs*

But overall the POTJ line does seem to be quite good and made a lot of progress for SW figures overall. About the only bad thing I can say for it is the (in my unpopular opinion) slightly goofy packaging and line name, but being a loose collector it doesn't trouble me. Actually, I've never held a POTJ card in my hands, unless I did back when they were new and in that case I put it back- don't remember.

All right, maybe I'll get a VTSC scout first :P But Han is second and I'm going to see if I can't get him at the same time.

After I've got Han and Luke, then I'll see if I can afford a second scout.

If Greedo or the Tusken Raider pegwarm I might buy one of those... but they're not that high on my priority list. Rather spend money online and get a VOTC Chewie and Lando first.

Hmm, maybe so; I have the quasi-advantage of living in a smaller city where, while I'm not sure, buying habits actually seem to be based more on kids than collectors and less so on scalpers. But if kids grab these up I'm betting they'll go for the Biker Scouts, actually.

On the other hand, I would shoot my foot to miss Han altogether, too.

I've also noticed a distinct tendancy for prequel figures to disappear faster than OT figures in my area.... the Coruscant wave only lasted a few days, but the Hoth and Carkoon wave stuff hung around quite a while- what the store got in, anyway. I never saw a Chewie or Fett in my store- a shame since I'm really wanting a Fett.

So adversely really, it's a disadvantage living in a smaller city- they tend to only get one, maybe two cases a month in of anything. And I could swear they skipped part of the Carkoon line, and all the TSC figures have been a week or two late...

If these don't make it here for like a month maybe I can just buy all three at once :) Or borrow some money from my parents? Hmm...

Saga Collection '06 / Re: TRU Exclusive Endor AT-AT
« on: April 10, 2006, 08:08 PM »
Yikes! I guess that shoots down my theory of buying a figure-scale AT-AT of any kind one day.

At least I have my Micro Machines "action fleet" AT-AT. :)

158
None- I plan to get one or two if possible. Trenchcoat Han and X-Wing Luke come first though...

Saga Collection '06 / Re: 2006 vOTC (or vTSC) - now with pics!
« on: April 10, 2006, 05:57 PM »
I went out of town Thursday (the 6th) and didn't see any of these, so unless I go out of town again soon enough, I'll be waiting and hoping for these to pop up at our Wal Mart.

I'll have to be sure to check the whole aisle, since it seems the VTSCs are getting their own pegs at least in certain places, rather than mingling with the TSC figures.

I certainly hope that's right about the Wal Mart prices being $11; TSC figures have gone up to $6.60ish ("order 66 d00ds!" Sorry, bad reference to a refererence joke >.<) now it seems.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Ye Olde Nintendo
« on: April 10, 2006, 05:52 PM »
Ah, I grew up around an old NES, and I loved it before I understood how to actually play it. My older sister bought one with a copy of Super Mario Bros, and she and my brother would play it a lot. I always liked watching Luigi for some reason.

Later on we got Super Mario Bros 3, Dragon Warrior (the original Japanese name is Dragon Quest- a new one came out here not long ago, Dragon Quest VIII), Dragon Warrior II, Dr. Mario, Legacy of the Wizard, and a few other games I remember less about. I know SMB3 was bought as a christmas present, but I think many of the others came from my RPG-loving cousin. My mother and other sister would play them a lot, and somehow they totally amazed me even though half of the game was text I couldn't read well. :)

In more recent years I've gotten my own NES (I believe the old one was given away) and a number of games for it. My favorites are all four Dragon Warrior games, Final Fantasy, Super Mario Bros. 3, Kirby's Adventure (this game actually rivals SMB3 in my book), old (non-super) Mario Bros, Wrecking Crew (I love the level editor, and the game's an even mix of puzzle and action), Yoshi's Cookie, and Castlevania 2. I guess the RPGness wore off on me a bit :)

Before getting a NES again though, I got a SNES- before I knew anything about the internet I would spend hours and hours playing it. Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past... and many, many other games. The SNES is still my favorite system I think. I even got the "Super Scope" bazooka and Yoshi's Safari, and Mario Paint and the mouse for it :)

Second favorite? Probably my Gameboy SP, but that's thanks to the old gameboy games as much as the Advance games. Super Mario Land and Super Mario Land 2, the Pokemon games (yes the Pokemon games, though I don't bother trying to "catch them all," I just play through and try to find the ones I want for my party), Link's Awakening, and remakes of the Dragon Warrior games... and I'm pretty fond of the newer Castlevania games that are sort of half-RPG, the ones like Symphony of the Night for the playstation, and there's a couple of those in the Gameboy Advance.

Another system I have that I'm pretty fond of is the Virtual Boy :) All I really need is a power glove and I'll be set to move into early/mid-'90s video game obscurity land...

Oh, okay. :) He is kinda cool, between the two figures you'd have a SA, high-detail Chewie for every occasion. The early bird figure seems to be pretty rare though so I'll probably just be aiming for a VOTC Chewie and a ROTS Chewie.

I find his expression interesting, though- he's got this closed-mouth grin. The majority of Chewbaccas seem to have this whole "arrrrr!" thing going on.

Personally I kinda like how Falcon Mechanic Chewie and his many merry reprints did it, though- that expression was the most neutral/multipurpose I think.

Feedback / Re: AdamSolo's feedback

The figure arrived in great condition and the communication was clear and friendly. Thanks! :)

From JD's photo archives:

Is that a custom? He definately looks like the VOTC body, but where the heck is the head from?? ??? This was the only picture of him, from the VOTC Han archive.

Sorry if this is off-topic, in the wrong forum, or bad to post about in general :( I was just looking through and saw this image and was puzzled.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Battle of Endor Wave
« on: April 9, 2006, 07:23 PM »
While I love my Tarkin and Thrawn and am happily soon to have a Piett, I have to agree that all three could kind of use a facelift some day with the improvements made in newer imperial officer figures. They look okay on their own, but they look crappy next to the new guys.

Personally, more so than what they've actually done with the imperial officers, I think they should start making them with an extra soft cloth "skirt" and hinged knee joints- they don't need balls, commtech figure-style knees will do. This way they could sit or walk or pace around. That and the now-common angle cuts and swivel boot tops would make many a great imperial officer.

So much so that I kind of wish I had a spare (I don't even have one...) Jabba's Palace Luke, so I could steal his limbs and give them to Thrawn and do my own "skirt."

165
Personally I kinda wish they'd just made the normal Saga packaging with this stuff, it can't be more than .0000000000001 cent per figure more expensive :/

I don't think it'll neccesarily impose on production of new figures, and at the moment it seems to be supplying older waves a chance to be on the shelves again. But it seems kind of lame in concept- I see no reason for the existance of these figures but to try to squeeze more money out of completists.
