Collect All 92! / Re: Bespin Security Guard
« on: December 29, 2010, 12:37 PM »
I think a big problem (beyond the poorly fitting hat) is the ruffled folds that are molded onto the new version.  Usually this looks pretty good with other characters, but if you look at the reference photos, you will see that those uniforms don't have that many wrinkles.  These new ones are pretty sloppy looking, especially the trousers.  The vintage figure has a much more realistic look to it, and I passed on both of these recent versions because they just look awful to me.  I'd rather they start from scratch if they put one on a vintage card, with a more pressed uniform, molded-on hat, and an actual African-American headsculpt instead of one in blackface...

Collect All 92! / Re: Imperial Tie Fighter Pilot
« on: August 19, 2010, 12:24 PM »
In one of the Action Figure Archives book (I think the one from 98), it says the vintage version is from ANH because the pilots had an extra tube coming out of the breather box that loops from the front to the back.  Has anyone ever seen a picture of this variation? Is it noticeable in the movie itself when Vader takes those pilots with him down the corridor when the Rebels first attack?

Modern Trading / Titanium TIE Interceptor for trade
« on: December 30, 2007, 11:58 PM »
I have a MIB Titanium TIE Interceptor, the original version that I'd like to do a straight trade for.  I'm looking primarily for the Republic Attack Cruiser, but also will trade for the green Anakin Jedi Starfighter, white TIE Fighter, or Plo Koon's Jedi Starfighter w/Hyperspace ring.

Thanks,

Michael

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: 30AC "Vintage" Figures Thread
« on: January 25, 2007, 12:53 PM »
I hate to stir this debate up again, but shouldn't Han's jacket be blue based on the original figure? I loved the colour of that blue.  I'm also worried about the wide leg stances on some of these, but as long as they look good with the packaging, I suppose I shall not complain...

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Star Tours Question
« on: July 20, 2006, 02:14 PM »
Last time I was there, approximately a few months ago, they only had the latest wave.  I don't think they ever repackaged the first ones into saga packaging, so you're probably out of luck there.  Also, the figures they have on the shelves are probably droids that are only found overseas, and not in the anaheim version of the attraction.  hope that helps...

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Cutting down VTSC Greedo's vest?
« on: June 20, 2006, 01:31 AM »
I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier, but I actually improved the vest without harming it at all.  I just folded it, and boy, what a difference.  Looks much better, and bulks the vest up a bit more to make it more authentic to the film.  Plus, if you really wanted to, you could glue the fold with Fabritac and you'd be set...

Yeah, Chewie, I put the plastic vest on him, but since I only have the commtech Greedo, that particular version doesn't seem orange enough.  I was just curious as to how it might turn out...

Saga Collection '06 / Cutting down VTSC Greedo's vest?
« on: May 26, 2006, 01:50 PM »
Looking at the Greedo vest, I think my only complaint about it is the fact that it's too long and shouldn't go over the belt.  I'm wondering if anyone has been brave enough to cut one down to the proper length.  I'm afraid to do it and unravel the whole thing, but it seems like an easy fix as long as you can cut it straight....so does anyone out there have enough extras that they're willing to experiment on them?

Saga Collection '06 / Re: 2006 vOTC (or vTSC) - now with pics!
« on: May 15, 2006, 01:08 PM »
So are the taped ones still available, or should I break down and open up those heat sealed ones?  I've never seen taped ones at retail, and I'm scared when I do they will have the stickers stolen anyways...

Has anyone come up with the least damaging way to get the heat sealed ones open? Going through the old replies, I haven't seen a surfeire way to get at this without destroying them, other than opening up the back...

The first VTSC figures I saw in person were at a Wal Mart...and they were all heat sealed...I have yet to see the taped version, but I'm still looking...
