Yeah, looks like next year according to the flyer (30th Ann.).  I hope that since they have adjusted both the hilt and the blade for the Yoda saber, they are also going to adjust the price accordingly.  I know, wishful thinking on my part, but it can't hurt to wish.

BTW, a Borders employee posted on GH that some stores are marking down the single bladed Darth Maul Force FX lightsabers to $69.  Might be worth it for those of you who have been holding out until now.

From Dark Horse's web site:

This fall, Dark Horse announced a new contest for Direct Market retailers. The Dark Horse 100 program rewards 10 lucky comic shops with 100 variant cover comics exclusively available through this promotion. Dark Horse received an overwhelming response from retailers, with entries totaling near 1,000! The following ten stores were chosen at random to receive 100 alternate cover copies of the upcoming Star Wars Dark Times debut issue for free. All issues, regular and alternate cover copies, are expected to arrive in stores by the first week of November.

The "Big Ten":
The Dreaming Comics and Games, Seattle, WA
Collector's Paradise, Winnetka, CA
Clint's Books, Kansas City, MO
Magic Dragon Comics, Arlington, MA
Warp 9, Clawson, MI
Heroes and Villains, Hampton, VA
Cyborg One, Doylestown, PA
Dragon's Lair, Round Rock, TX
Up, Up & Away!, Cincinnati, OH
Demolition Comics, Tampa, FL

Anyone near any of these locations?

I'm going to be interested to see if they offer a connection piece in the build your own lightsaber kit (like the one for the Darth Maul double bladed saber).  I'd love to have another double bladed saber in either green or blue.

Have I missed something somewhere or can someone explain to me what 'Force FX-Q' is?!

Very cool, it's about time they made the Yoda!

I too am looking forward to this.  Has anyone seen on DH's web-site that they are issuing a limited edition version of #1 with an alternate cover?  If not, here's the link:

There will only be 1000 copies of this available.  If anyone is able to come across an extra one of these when they are released, I'm very interested.

Thanks.  I did notice the difference, but didn't make the connection that it might be a filler issue.  That makes more sense now.  I still wish the issues came more frequently though.  I guess that I'm going to have to fill my time between 'Legacy' issues by starting to read 'Dark Times' when it comes out.

I REALLY hope that they re-pack the VOTC version.  I missed out on those when they were out and would love to get my mitts on a few.

Just picked up #4 today.  I really like the story, but I'm getting impatient with the lack of continuity between the issues.  There have been 4 main issues now (not counting #0) and I think that there are at least 5-6 open ended story lines going on.  I guess I'm just too impatient right now, but I hope that they start tying in some of these stories sooner rather than later...

TV-9D9 / Re: Live Action Show Based Around OT?
« on: October 10, 2006, 11:16 AM »
From an interview on MTV.com:

"In 2007, Lucas will begin work on a live-action "Star Wars" show set during the 18-year gap between Episodes III and IV. "We haven't started yet; I start that next year," the filmmaker said, adding that he's determined to write an entire first season before shooting begins on the show that will star "background" characters from that time period.

"None of the Skywalker story, none of that stuff is in there," he explained, shooting down any depiction of a young Han Solo acquiring the Millennium Falcon or running with Lando Calrissian. "It's completely different. The animated series has got all the characters in it. The one that comes after, the live-action one, is with people who were in 'Star Wars,' but they're not the main characters."

Lucas said the plot will be steered by characters such as Tie-Fighter or Rebel pilots, most only briefly glimpsed in the six "Star Wars" films."

Doesn't sound like a compelling way to bridge the gap of EPIII and EPIV...  But maybe that's just me.  I would prefer to have stories about the building of the Empire, start-up of the Rebellion, stories of young Luke and Leia, follow-up on Obi-Wan and Yoda.  Maybe I should reserve judgement until we get more details of this, but right now, I'm pretty disappointed.

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: Anyone else losing interest?

I started collecting these as a way for my two kids to enjoy them when they are old enough.  However, in the last year I've questioned whether or not they will even know/recognize Polis Massan, Gragra, or the Mustafar Lava Miner when they start to watch the movies/play with these figures.  So I think that my days of getting every carded figure are definitely over.  Same thing with the vehicles.  I think that the Falcon, X-Wing, Anakin/Obi-Wan starfighters are on screen enough to justify buying them.  But when Hasbro is on the fifth re-paint of the ROTS starfigters and fourth re-paint of the AOTC/CW starfighters, I can't keep plunking down $20-$30 for these.

I think that I'm at the point now where I can stick to Battle Packs and get the figures that they would recognize and not break the bank ($20 for a BP vs. $7+ for each individual figure).  But I do know that I'll have to pick up a few of the carded figures here and there.  Same with vehicles.  I missed the POTF AT-AT, so I can 'justify' getting the latest release.  However, if they release another one in a year or so, I won't bother.
