Discover the Force / Movie Heroes / Re: New Packaging for 2012
« on: February 25, 2011, 11:35 PM »
I donīt think Maul deserves too much predominance on the collection, besides there are few variants of this character
his card portrait is only justified on ep1 releases, but I insist, he is not a character to epitomize the whole saga, rather portrait Yoda, whatever version of him, or classic Obi Wan.

Itīs good to read the vintage line will continue with the same packaging, only varying the photo of the correspondent character.

vintage version appears to wear a lighter suit, cause the body is slimmer. Perhaps the big head made the figure very naive, but still interesting. The divisions of the back of the hand are more marked on vinty Ree-yees, he only lacks the stripe on both sides of pants.
As some details improved on potf2 version, Hasbro missed the chance to paint white or gray  the point of the boots.
Vintage versions  frequently had this paint job pattern: they painted the sections of a limb: bracelets, boots, of the torso like belts, but only the front part of that isolated section and omitted to paint the borders. (This is a detail that Gentle Giant Jumbo classic vintage figures is correcting)

On vinty Ree-Yees: The knee pads are painted on the front but omitted the borders (also in the front part of them)

Citadel:

a smart way to justify the carbon freeze hibernation before esb is to think or write in sw databank that it was a procedure still in development at cw time. So, besides the contradictory more complex multi freeze chamber, what matters is the result (maybe a shorter period of hibernation guaranteed with that machine)

This also contradicts the stament of potf2 Freeze chamber Han; that Solo was the fisrt human frozen in carbonite, and Vader lines saying the machine is rudementary and the process had to be tested first on Solo. (Bizarre it was tested 30 years ago on him)

Tarkin looked very rots Tarkin, but they intended to imitate Cushingīs diction. Something of the character missed, like his presence. I know, the character is in evolution.

They have accomplish very well the explosions of the corridors, mimicking some Episode I scenes of the doomed battle droids.

The Vintage Collection / Re: Toy Fair 2011
« on: February 18, 2011, 07:13 AM »
The best news of this fair is the achievement in detail of the latest figures. Considerably head sculpt have improved in regard to the demands of adults collectors, who always wish more movie accuracy, a best depiction in body sculpt, clothes, weapons and articulation.

Perhaps some toys are the first of a experimental wave: Like echo and rebel fleet trooper; but in them the mold is acquiring balance between sculpt and articulation.

As other guys have said; some figures are pre painted or hand painted on tf2011 display; in that regard, to my favorite character: I wish Dagobah Landing Luke would be presented  at last with these complete features
-silver butons of utility belt, holster
-the rank badge at chest left side painted, like in tlc snowspeeder version
-the little buckle bellow belt at left side, waist level, must be painted silver.

It is fair to recognise the effort indepiction of several caharacters, like the clones from clone wars: latest Fordo and company. I hope Hasbro could swap those heads onto teh classic stormies, and develop a new mold for the imperial stormtrooper which highlights the articulations and relief of the armor pieces.

Bespin Han: at last this version corrected the saga tlc  torso, the stance seems better, it would be necessary to see an isolate pic of him stand, to learn if the legs are already corrected from that very thin shape of tlc saga versions.

Rebel Fleet Trooper got all necessary item for display. As with the Echo base trooper, his pants pockets made his legs look more realistic than with a simple knee ball joint.

Echo base trooper: the disposition of the pants pockets hide or disimulate the knee ball joints. This is an issue Hasbro will have to achieve on elbow articulation in the near future.

Ponda Baba: Best depiction ever, a more natural stance too.

It would be a chance to buy separately the tie fighter pilot from Endor pilots pack.

Perhaps a corrected Leia slave would be the one from sandstrorm scene. Tlc version has got some v shape torso.

Collect All 92! / Re: Bib Fortuna
« on: February 9, 2011, 11:16 PM »
The vintage Bib was molded according to the tusken or Obi wan Kenobi pants and robe sculpt. The figure spotted the necessary traits. The brwon robe is the original colour, but in case of vinty seems a bit faded. Other feature was the removable chest stomach armor of the majordomo.

Potf2 brought the improvement of his legs, he was depicted with boots, but the robe got darker, a gray tone caught on the film, but not the original of the character. More, the bracelets got a grey slight silver paint, different from flesh colour, as the vintage version has.

The otc repack from potf2 only added colour to the finger nails, but the grey slight silver applications on armor faded considerably, blending their shade with the blue of the clothes.

2006 saga Bib Fortuna represented an update in scale and sculpt, but with less articulation than earlier versions, while the knife is a good addition, the presence of the gun or staff is missing.
A new version must avoid the use of one piece mold for the robe and torso, cause teh exigence of collectors is higher nowadays. Hasbro must follow sideshow to adapt the robe into the scale.

Hey Hasbro! / Re: Questions for Hasbro?
« on: February 9, 2011, 09:38 PM »
Hi Hasbro, is it on your plans to schedule an all new big X Wing Fighter?

Here is how I fancy this iconic vehicle.

-Taller and  larger than saga version, weathered for Dagobah esb and rotj scenes.
-Without stickers, all in sculpt (You can do it Hasbro!)
-Green lights on sides of the wings, cause we saw them when the ship is stationed in the dialogue between Luke and Obi Wan on rotj.
-A ladder a bit larger also.
-You can add a variation of the incoming Dagobah Landing Luke pilot, perhaps with his gloves.

If they want to re release the vintage Death Squad Commander would be cool enough
Other vintage figure could be the tie fighter pilot
Or they could adapt an evolution tie pilot to the vinatge colors, with grey gloves and boots.

Just another thought guys about this wave....
after seeing rebelscum pics about tvc aotc Obi Wan Kenobi
on february 7, 2011
specially this comparison

http://www.rebelscum.com/photo.asp?image=/TVC/Basic/VC31ObiWan/TVC-1374.jpg&text=Obi-Wan Kenobis: The Legacy Collection BD-44 | The Vintage Collection VC32

The paintoj has got the necessary updates in relation to the tlc version (which shares sculpt):
-the shirt under jacket got other shade of cream
-all the buttons on betl are coloured silver, they made clearer instead of fade the silver and golden aplications of the belt on the figureīs waist.
-The boots have golden buckles, 3 rows of them.

I think Hasbro must project to launch these colorful and detailed versions of characters at once, instead of packaging re-releases (the most of them have lost paint applications throught history, specially as part of battle packs).
