30th Anniversary Collection / Re: So whos liking all the EU stuff?
« on: August 1, 2007, 12:58 PM »
Being a huge fan of the EU I love most of it. I love the stuff from the comics and books mostly but the Hasbro inspired EU stuff (i.e. Shadow Biker Scout, Covert Ops Trooper) is really not for me anymore.

Yup.

 :P

I'll third that sentiment.   I really love the EU and I was so thrilled when the orignal EU POTF figures came out and I'm happy that Hasblo has brought more attention to the EU but there are so many characters they can choose from that they haven't done before that I'd rather see.   A new Thrawn should have been at the TOP of the list, there's Daala, Isard (both of 'em!), Rogue Squadron Pilots, ... the list is all but infinite!    And what's with  "Comic Pack" from Revenge of th Sith?   What a pocking cop-out!   C'mon Hasblo- give some new characters... give us some new tooling- cut back on the pack-ins if necessary for cryin' out loud!

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: 30AC McQuarrie/Concept Figures

Pisses me the hell off!   Oh sure.. there were no availability problems with the CIV exlusives for non-attendees (just the OTHER Hasblo fustercluck) but at least the people who ordered them eventually got them.    I almost feel like I'd've rather gone to SDCC to get the McObi pack instead of CIV to get the McSclusives there.

Anyone snag any extras?

After seeing it in person, I can just see me leaving it on shelves when it hits retail.

Same here... looks like a 100% repack set.    With the musicians as my collecting focus, as long as there's nothing new in it... a big PASS

Anyone here still playing?   They just made a really nice publish "Bug Bash" and it looks like good times for now at least.

Other Collectibles / Re: Pocket Models

Yeah the price is slightly prohibitive to me...  $5 a pack is steep for some little cardboard ships.  I will say though, they do have cool variety like you said Bob, and they've got a lot of detail really.  Very well designed...  I think if you compared this to the Minis battleship game, you're further ahead getting into POcket Models and maybe revising the rules some so you can do fleet battles and things more in tune with miniatures gaming.

I got the Imp. Shuttle in a pack recently and really it's an impressive thing for just being cardboard basically.

From my CIV experience, the game is certainly more interesting than Starship Battles.  I ended up breaking down and getting three of the Tins and I've picked up the Star Destroyer.  Haven't really had a chance to put them together and figure out what I'm missing....

Got mine too orderd like 5 minutes ago so I don't think this one is going very fast.   I  used like 800 points so it was fairly cheap.  We'll see how well the final product turns out.

Heh... I was just looking at RevengeoftheJedi's post from last year about the need to have a new 12" Bespin Luke....and noticed he hasn't responed to this thread now that his dream came true!

 ;D

So who got theirs and what are your feelings?    It's a tad shorter than I was expecting and the mechno-chair's joints don't seem stable enough to prop Sidious up for long.   I suppose it will look good next to Maul though!

I got my Leia today, was never too excited about it to begin with but need it to go with Jabba.

I know what you mean. Offering Jabba was a stroke of genius by SS. Bib, Bousch, Bubo and even Crumb weren't high at all on my wish list (not to mention a $200 polystone slab), but getting Jabba made them all more appealling.

Heck yeah... the Cantina/Jabba are my two favorite locales in Star Wars.   Just opened up my Leia and am pleased for the most part.   I love the likeness and she looks great next to my Carbonite Han (not sure if I want to use the light-up one or the ohter)  Her staff doesn't really fit in her hand too well, after the first head swap, the inside of the helmet popped out,  one of the pieces on the bandolier already came loose (add some glue I guess), and I have no idea what 1/2 of her accessories are (they look like drinking cups).

Of course... Leia as Bousssh never was in the same scene as Luke Jedi... but.... :-)
I'll try and get some pics up of the display soon.

ohh-kayyyyyyy.....I am taking back my comments of how great she looks.  Her clothes look like they are all plastic but I am assuming it is some tight vinyl.  The belt is frickin' huge and the cloaks pom-pom's are oversized.  All in all-YUCK!!!  I thought the shot at Sideshow was very nice and was expecting cloth for her clothing, to say the least.  How disappointing after waiting so long for another Padme.... :'( :'(

Hmmm... I'm definitely on the fence after seeing that for sure... I'll probably go ahead a pre-order it anyway.  I can always cancel it once the final model is revealed (this IS just a prototype afterall *crosses fingers*)

I wish they would have just done it for C-IV... Or not at all for some time...

I would have rather this version to go with my Han...

I agree... I can't think of any compelling reason to have a Ceremonial Luke- All he did was stand there and get a medal!   Also, Hasblo's version isn't a total piece of crap either....   I'd rather have had just the Bespin one.

I have to agree i am a bit unhappy with this. Too many Lukes too soon. They should have held off on this one. With that said i am planning on ordering it and hoping for 2 different heads. 1 normal and one battle damaged. Any other thoughts on the exclusive, thats the best i could come up with.

Oh.. I'm sure the exclusive is going to be a bloody stump...

Hmm, I wonder why they chose another Luke for the next figure.

Because it requires the least amount of new tooling?   I must say that I'm a little disappointed-   1 Han/2 Leias, 1 Ben (OT), and THREE Lukes?   No Chewie, No Vader?   I for one am disappointed with this choice.
