Collect All 92! / Re: Luke Skywalker

I have yet to acquire C9 vintage Luke with both hair colours. I have one, but it leans horribly to one side and can't stand on its own. I checked out that Resurgence Battle Pack and am really considering looking for it on the bay. Both R2 and Luke look really, really good and I need modern versions of both characters.

I had to update two weeks ago or so. I can't have another OS running anymore either (not that I had), but the system also said I couldn't log on if I didn't install the update. I don't mind though.

Desipte the inaccuracy I actually like that shiny domed VOTC R2. I have no experience with the panels though, since I only have one, and he's firmly carded and clam shelled  ;)

Also that Vintage 3PO looks really detailed for its time period. I'm no Vintage expert, but I don't recall ever seeing that much detail on the sculpts of the other Vintage figures.

Amanaman is one of Kenner's finest achievements, but yeah they pretty much nailed it years before with 3PO  ;)

I agree on Ewok Deity 3PO being nearly there. The pic of the upcoming 3PO disturbs me though. Goldenrod should be shiny from head to toe, not this brushed gold metal look!

The final scene in which we see 3PO standing next to R2 is one of my favourites. Both droids looks absolutely stunning. And although 3PO on Tatooine also looks great, I still think he should be blinged out to the max  :D

-Non-removable vest...  Minor perhaps, but I think it's acheivable these days without adding bulk, and it's a nice feature.

-Holster Thigh Strap Separate...  This is more important to me, honestly.  Bespin Luke, and many other figures, have since sported the thigh-strap as a sculpted part of their separately sculpted holsters, and I think any Han that has the thigh-strap sculpted to his leg and leaves the holster hanging is in need of upgrade (Endor Han, ANH Han, etc.).

Interesting, I find these things not disturbing (excuse the strong word here  ;) )at all. A sculpted thigh strap looks too bulky imho and I don't recall seeing Han in ANH without his vest. Just my thoughts on this  :) A gunner's comm could've been added at the time though.

I remember seeing first shots of Kenner's new action figure line in SW Insider. Seeing these "SW meets MOTU" figures made me cringe. Later figures looked less terrible and some even quite acceptable, but these first ones? Eeooww  :-X

Which reminds me, I still need to find me a decent pair of vinty Solos, both versions. A figure with a dubious left arm, if you get my drift  :-\

I agree, the VOTC Solo gets 10 out of 10. Awesome figure of out favourite swashbuckling space buccaneer! Or something like that :p

PS, do I see white paint smudges on vinty Solo's shirt?

Even more amazing that they have them talking ahead of each episode, making it all the more special.

Well, I finally got to see Part One last night. Very painful to see the Marines get all excited about the sea battle at night, only to find out all of their ships are gone. The skirmish following that was also pretty intense.

This is nearly as awesome as BoB, but I didn't get veterans' interviews before the episode. Does that start with Part Two?

I agree, although I do have the EB Leia standing next to my vintage one.

Love the idea myself. I look forward the discussion. I actually have a display case with my vintage and their best modern counterpart. The only two missing a partner are Klaatu and Lumat.

Really? You must post some pics D_A. Most likely not nearly as impressive as your Imperial army, but you really should post 'em! And Lumat's just too cool. I love that grumpy look on his face and his "beer drinking" arm  8)

Do you insist on selling them as a lot or will you also consider breaking them up? I'm looking for fine replacements of my Emperor, Max Rebo, Nikto, and Gen. Madine, you see. And $15 is fine with me. I live in Holland, but I believe we've dealt before?

I agree, the EB KIt Chewie is the best modern counterpart of the Kenner version. At first I thought the VOTC one was, but when this one came along, it was a clear case.

This is pretty cool. Well, SW is cool by definition, especially when talking about the really old days! I've been in the process of collecting them actually, since summer last year  :) A lot of figures are pretty much perfect, but some still need to be updated/redone. Like er.... Emperor's Royal Guard  ;D

Some very interesting discussions could become of this, as well. Is the best modern one also the most articulated one? Or do sculpt and paint apps weigh in more? For example, in my opinion the EB Leia is a really excellent modern version of the Kenner one.

Watching this topic for replies and updates!

Thanks for the headsup Jesse, but I don't think I can view HBO.com content, since I live in the Netherlands. But no worres, there's always my trusty torrent client  :-X Nah, I'll wait till 04/07, so I can watch it in HD. We already know the outcome, so nothing to spoil, right?  ;)
