Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: customs
« on: August 18, 2006, 06:45 PM »
When I started making customs almost everybody directed me to Citadel paints by Games Workshop. I however have been so busy with preping custom parts that I have not had chance to use them yet, but almost every pic I have seen where they were used looked great!
(From personal experience...DONT USE TESTORS! The path to the darkside it is... too thick.)

Those were the things shooting missles at the Galactic Marine's vehicles on Mygeeto in Revenge of the Sith during the execution of Order 66. I think there was one or two in the background on Utapau as well.

[best Jack voice] "Where does he get those wonderful toys?"

That CIS vehicle is great! Wonderful color scheme.
Now as for my comment above...where do you get the vehicles you customize out of curiosity?

Bob is awesome!  ;D (my girlfriend's reply usualy is "NO Bob is scary!")
Well I have thought about eventually making some Twin Peaks action figures. My girlfriend is a HUGE fan and she got me into Twin Peaks (I still have not seen most of second season...  :-\ cant find it anywhere.) I never watched it when it was on TV, though almost everyone I knew who did kept suggesting it...(Its one of the FEW times I should have listened to my friends I had at the time.)

This is an amazing diarama! I agree that the console details is absolutely amazing! The details on and arround the door too!
Great work!

Very cool! That facial hair on Ra'an does make the Anakin head look alot different.
Great work!

Hmmm as far as alien heads how about some Gand or Trandoshan varients? Those pop in mind. I would come up with something more creative but its 3 am here as I type this and I am half asleep...LOL
As far as the Trandoshan, I am thinking along lines of Republic Commando game look...

That forked saber is really cool! Very creative.
Verun Forr's attacking pose makes him look even more intimidating!

I will! I have just wanted to perfect my work a bit before I do... I just did not want anyone getting bubble filled helmets with chunks missing...LOL
The other thing is wanted to do my research and find what would be a reasonable price to charge for the helmets that would cover my cost of supplies but be somewhat consistent with the range of what others charge out there for cast helmets... (That and I need to validate my Paypal for those that prefer that payment method...I would also have to get used to it too...)

Wonderful work and I really like that you made aliens from other sci-fi shows as well! Oh and thank you for posting the info on wax sculpting on the other forum!

Time for an update:
A few people on various forums have asked me to show pics when I finaly got arround to molding/casting the helmets... Well here are some! Problem is that I used the last of my supply of mold making stuff (until my smooth-on products arrive later this week) and due to a possible varience in temperature while the mold was curing, I ended up with a few unexpected bubbles. I decided to use the molds anyway to also use up my old supply of TAP casting resin. The Airborne helmets had the most air bubble problems, with the Clone Engineer having the second most. (Though oddly those were the majority of the helmets that turned out well...) The Demolitions Clone helmet prototype sculpt was partially destroyed while attempting to remove from the mold, unfortunate as the mold for it was less than desireable (spelling?). I got a few to (kind of) turn out well, including the antenna. The Galactic Marine had the problem of rarely getting resin into the part of the lower face mask. (I was using one part molds for all these.) I attempted Glassman's process of "cast a removable helmet without dremelling it to death" and had a few successes, but all the failures were to blame on me for getting to rushed trying to do too many things at once.

Ahhh...A trip to the severed head market! Yay!

Watcha mean my helmet is too big?!?!!

Cody and friends strut across the catwalk with the newest in clone accessories!

Well I found these casts did not turn out so great, but there is hope that the Smooth-on stuff I am getting will help me make some better casts.
I am also in hopes that since I will be trying out Fixit Sculpt, that I wont lose anymore sculpts to crumbling apart in the mold...That really sucked...
