The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: CW Y-Wing Starfighter
« on: September 14, 2009, 04:01 PM »
Saw what looked like a red striped Y-Wing last night on a CW season 2 commercial.  It was a very brief fly by over what looked like Geonosis, but I bet that will be the next paint scheme offered on this thing.

I was hoping to pick up multiples of a few of these, but haven't seen even one set!  I don't know if just some stores are not carrying them, that would actually explain at least part of the price jump this year - the fewer sets ordered by WM the higher the price.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: CW Ahsoka's Delta-7b Jedi Starfighter

They did say that they had no plans to make any more astros in the CW line.  I think their reasoning was that they doing "minor characters" in the CW line.  This is really stupid of them, as some R2 units like Ahsoka's R7-A7 and Kit Fisto's R6-H5 are pretty prominent in their respective episodes, and obviously have a special relationship with their Jedi, complete with "dialogue" not unlike Luke's or Anakin's with R2-D2, and with R6 actually piloting his ship to the rescue of Kit from Grievous' fortress.

Certainly more astros would be a great way to make some extra money in the line, seeing as how there's almost no tooling cost (unless they do that cool green R5 unit), and every kid needs more astromechs than just R2 or Goldie to put in their jedi fighters, Y-Wings, and ARCs.

It's pretty ridiculous that we're getting her ship, but not her astrodroid, R7-A7, to go in it.  You'd think that they'd at least have it coming out on a card or in a BP to coincide with the release of her starfighter, as well as the upcoming Y-Wing!

I just changed my vote to add AV-6R7.

112
1.  Red & white R2 unit - Jabba's skiff bartender
2.  Grizz Frix  EDIT:  AV-6R7
3.  Grizz Frix's R5 unit (white and tan)
4.  Dorovia Bold's R2 unit (white & yellow)
5.  Wedge Antilles' R2 unit (white with black pinstripes)
6.  Home One R3 unit
7.  Home One R5 unit
8.  Giant Mousedroid
9.  Imperial R2 unit (not R2-Q2)
10. Imperial R5 unit (binocular eyes)

Unfortunately, a lot of people would not consider those votes wasted, since even after those figures are released, they're just going to vote for them again as they will undoubtably be somehow obsolete or not up to the latest standards or some such reasoning.

A lot of people just don't care about getting all-new minor characters, and are only ever going to look at which of the main characters need to be redone.

I am pssing on this version in anticipation of the upcoming release of Ahsoka's fighter.  I like her paint scheme, and I'd also like to eventually get her droid, R7, to go with it.  Though Hasbro has stated they have no plans to make her astromech.  Really, how hard would it for them to do a 2-pack of Ahsoka and R7-A7 to release at the same time they release her starfighter?  They're just a repack and a straight repaint!  Idiots!

I like the looks of the upcoming CW 2-packs.  How about a pack featuring a Clone Y-Wing pilot and his astromech, to coincide with the release of the Y-Wing this fall?

It's cool, but I wish they'd do some "pilot & droid" 2-packs.  Both Shadow Squadron & Blue Squadron have a lot of good possibilites, and having some Y-Wing pilots and their astromechs out at the same time the Y-Wing was hitting would make an awful lot of sense.

I hate the fact that so many people just want remakes on all the lists, rather new, never before made characters.

30" sounds right, including gun tips.  I esti-measured it out using the droid slot width as a guide, and came up with about 26" over the main body, + 3-4" for the protruding guns.

I also have to believe that this ship is intended to be of the same model that pops up in the OT, with as you said, the panels ripped off and the turret and rear gunner station replaced with the fixed cannons.  So much of the databank stuff is blatantly EU, anyway.

The Original Trilogy / Re: Ejection Seat Debate

Maybe on some ships they had really powerful suction cups, or a special instant on/off velcro or sticky type action going on?

The other option is that JJ is going by the dimensions given for the OT Y-Wing, which the SW database gives as 16m, which would then measure out to a more reasonable 31".  Also, one must assume that all measurements include the two turbo cannons sticking out the nose, which would account for a bit of the length.

In addition, The size of the droid slot, seems to push this towards the 30" size rather than the 40" size.
