Star Wars Action Figures / Re: Dimetrodons Customs
« on: January 30, 2005, 05:06 AM »
PS:

I forgot to mention the shine I'm seeing is a bit detracting, though that could just be teh camera.  If the figure's paint is glossy I'd dull it down some only because I think shine on a paintjob takes away from it...

One other paint suggestion before a dullcoat would be maybe a black drybrush to bring out/highlight detail perhaps, while giving the figure a battle-worn look perhaps?

The blue visor kicks much ass though.  I dig the color choices a lot.  Like a Night-Ops outfit for him.  Show your custom over at www.FFURG.com 's FForums Dimetrodon, if you haven't already.  I know the guys would appreciate your work!

That's nice man, and I like the paintjob though they seemed white with details rather than all one color like that...  I still dig it and think that a specialized unit like that could use a more camo'd design at times.

What details did you add to it?  I can see the base, I think, is an AOTC Clone (Red)...  You seemed to definitely beef him up to give him the bulk they seem to have.

I'm wagering you're as pumped for the game as I am. :)

Eh, if you saw how many figs I need Spuff, you'd not think so lucky of me.

My brother comes first then I grab a figure I like here and there...   He's WAY behind, lemme tell ya.  That makes me even further behind. :)

And I was gonna suggest a PhotoBucket account, just cuz it's handy dandy for this kind of thing.

I still haven't seen Shelob yet, haha.  :)  I did score a Moria Orc the other day for my bro, which I'm sorta bumming that I only got one cuz I'd liked to have gotten myself one after seeing it.

I have a J.R.R. Tolkien class this semester (Lit course of course), and as someone who's never really sat and read a lot of his stuff, and to have now read The Silmarillion in 2 weeks and The Hobbit half finished already (I already read it though), I really sorta get itno the figures...

Odd story about the class.  He brings toys in to set on the table while we review and do discussion.  :)

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Stupid **** From the Internet Thread.

Well, there's a "shower room" which is glass windowed of course, and you drive up to that (it's around back of the building.  THere's a window you pay at I assume, then there's a high fence on the opposite side of your car that kinda boxes you in...  May even be roofed over onto the building itself.  I'm not sure...

I've been in the club, and it's a 50/50 ratio about of Y/N on the girls...  The drive-thru just never got me.  22's an artery between basically Pittsburgh and the Altoona/Johnstown (and more importantly, State College) areas so there's a lot of trucks and general traffic through there.  I can only assume that's the "charm" involved.

In Pittsburgh, alcohol can't be served in any club that's all-nude, but you can GIVE it away.  My favorite club in the city is Club Erotica (all nude) down in the city.  It gives really good beer away (they hand you a cup when you pay admittance), they have like 30 girls a night, 2 - 3 big stages, etc...  I dated a girl whose best friend worked there so I wound up getting to know a lot of the girls there and stuff.  Good place.

The other option is Bare Elegance in the "Strip District" of Pittsburgh (the name's misleading though, it has nothing to do with strip clbus actually, and is just an open market area that at night is filled with clubs/nightlife with this one booby bar at the way far end of it away from everything).  At BE you can buy drinks, there's table dances, there's 2 large stages, but they have fewer girls and they're generally much more "fake".  The stipulation for selling booze is the girls have to have pasties and g-strings here.

Beyond that there's a place in downtown that gets headliners (Jenna Jameson's been there, etc.), and there's some places closer to the West Virginia border that I have heard good things about but I've never been to.

I hear if you wanna hit a ton of these places, Columbus is the place to go...  My buddy used to live there and 2 of my friends here went to visit him and stayed for a weekend, and they said it was unreal the number of clubs there.

CLimax there is way out in the boondox, for all intents and purposes, and as such the women are a mix of good and bad.  The city clubs I mentioned I can't think of many i'd label "bad".  It's on an artery into the city, but it's still in the stix.  That's the funny thing about my area...  I live 50 minutes from Pittsburgh, but I live in the "country" for all intents and purposes, 40 miles from the city or so.  Climax is far away like that, but really it wouldn't take long to get into downtown from there either.

There's little clubs like that in the outer areas...  That one just happens to be right near my probably most often hit toy run actually.

Gentle Giant / Re: Bust Ups!

Are the stormies slated to be at stores like other bust-ups have been?

I ask because I'm kinda wanting one or two of them for custom projects, but I don't wanna get into shipping and all that garbage...

This line would irk the hell out of me.  I am glad, well at least to an extent, that I am relatively poor. :(

I recall E1 stuff hitting about this early in my area...  Some small retailers here blew the lid off things at the time.  They're long gone companies, but they really F'd that one's release all up.

I remember people buying, evne though they were even more overpriced than regular retailers were.

I'd love to walk in and find Collection 2 somewhere...  Those figures are truly making me get back into collecting full steam, and all because they're so great looking overall.  I'm very anxious to see these things in person, especially after GH.com's high-res scan of Aayla Secura's cardback.  How kick ass is that!?

I'm talking clearance prices Ook, however finding them may be tough...

Of course, I'm just wondering about what they'd cost me (Canadian) from Brent because I could always use Stormtroopers...  I just know up in the North they tend to have a higher MSRP (On LOTR they do anyway...  It's a TRU thing?), but for the VOTC I will try finding for you they were $5-ish clearance.

In my neck though, VOTC's dried up fast.  At the $7 price they flew away for the most part too, but $5 was the straw...  They're going fast, and I don't get to WM a lot (they're sparse here, not one every 5 minutes).  The one I was at for Spuffy and CorranHorn had some ANH wave left though so I'll try going back.

My big find at WM recently was $15 X-Treme Detail tanks that normally run $50-ish...  $15's a friggin' steal considering they actually use die-cast metal for their tanks now and I got a Tiger I for $15.  To say it's heavy is an understatement.  It's probably the single best toy I've ever held in my hands, ever.  It's that big, detailed, and friggin' great.  :)  And WM clearanced it for really no reason since the Tigers were moving steadily.

Stormies sitting?  *sigh*

How much Canadian to American does that come to Brent?  I always can use more. :P

D'oh!!!

OK, i forgot to mention for those curious, but the WW2 Marines from 21st Cent. have been shipping now for a while, so I apologize.  I never ordered them because of $ at the moment.  Hopefully soon though, but I just haven't had the cash to do a case of these which is what I'm hoping for.

The Japanese are on the backs of the cards too I guess, and are dfinitely getting made it seems.

From what has been said, the heads aren't as animated as the previews showed, so that's a good thing.  Sounds like some of the guys coulda used extra sets of hands though, and that weapons are  a mismatch at times.  No big deal though.

The figures look good...  Great things are being said, so I wanna get a case ASAP.  Cheapest way to go and gets the most figures for ya too anyway. :)

Well, a submission from me...

And this is a scant distance from where I live, and right off from one of my main toyruns actually...

Climax Drive-Thru Nude Dancing Club On Ebay

And yes it does have a drive-thru...  Not used that incredibly convenient aspect of it (for the man on the go), but I have been to the club.

I'll just say that if any of my JD buddies visit me, and I should happen to take you on a tour of booby bars, Climax wouldn't be on the list...  It's "eh".

None of it have surfaced that I'm aware of...  Anyone else?  Tarful's pic has, and he's looking pretty cool I think too, and maybe reusing parts?  The warrior listed, I almost expect to just be a recard of this.
