I'm actually with Hunter on this...  But because the people pushing the carts push them about as well as they drive their SUV's and mini-vans.  It seems anything above standard size isn't something they're capable of handling...  I'm not specifying gender, but you could likely see where I'm heading. :)

BTW what the hell happened to smacking your kid when he's running around screaming?  Dammit bring back corporal punishment, NOW.

Other Toy Lines / Re: Terminator Toy Line... 4" Scale.
« on: October 30, 2005, 02:39 AM »
It gets better MisterPL (where the hell you at?) as it seems Palisades has on tap for next year (in 1:18 articulated figure realm):

-Planet of the Apes
-Terminator
-Predator!
&
-Aliens (w/Colonial Marines!)

Holy ****!  I just wet myself.

And if that Predator line isn't AvP but rather Predator 1, and MAYBE would include figures of the Commando unit...  Well that's it.  I'm spent.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Battle of Endor Wave
« on: October 30, 2005, 02:07 AM »
Blaster_E11, you're not the only one...  For my dollar, if it saves Hasbro some money I'm ok with (as long as it's a good sculpt) seeing them re-use IMperial Officer bodies to make new specific Officers from the film...  So to that end I think Jerjerrod could be cool.  If he's all new and even more poseable than an average Officer we've seen, I'll be ecstatic really since Impy Officer fodder has been fairly limited till recently.

The Death Star Gunner's not HIGH on my list of resculpts but I'll take him, sure.  Given that the Gunners did wear a variety of uniforms, Hasbro could technically give us the leather jerkin DSG as opposed to the POTF2 figure with the armor...  Or they could resculpt the Vintage figure who was just sporting the jumpsuit for the Emperor's arrival too, so that's unique to me, and adds something...

I'm more hoping the Rebel Commando's NOT a re-release because, well, yeah we have 2 but neither is very swift.  A little customizing tip though, if you wanted to give it a go the Saga body can be fitted to the POTF2 legs for a neutral, yet somewhat poseable Endor Rebel...  Still they're shy of the SA Trooper we all would buy and that is much needed IMO.

I'm with the rest of the voices that are a little shocked and dismayed at no SA Scout, no SA Luke Endor, or Leia, or Han...  Aside from the Commando those are the most in need of the resculpt treatment out of the whole ground sequence, but guess they're still on hold.

Yes...  Yes you can.  The yellows don't match up perfectly though.  The AOTC Clone has a certain brightness to his yellow while the E3 Clone has a more subdued almost mustard-like color.  However both are accurate, the yellers were just different in the movie.  The helmets fit both figures fine enough by my eyes though if you wanted to mix/match.

And thanks to Jesse for handling the post and thread for me on this.  :)  I was away from home without access to the site save for coming into the forums to beg the guys for help, hehe.

Anyway I'll give my usual post for a review here too, just lower than average.  :-\

So you wanted Clones?  Well Hasbro's going ape**** with the Clones this year and seemingly onward into the forseeable future as well.  The Clone Evolutions set represents probably the most collector-oriented Clone figure though since the #41 "apology" for the QD Attack Collection 1 figure. :)

The set shows the classic visual progression the white armor clad bringers of doom have from their Mandalorian roots, and the resulting boxed set is an item every collector needs a few of.  The troops inside aren't all the best for army building but the variation grey set is due soon and looks to change that little snafu completely as it's a completely army builder set it seems.

The Yellow set isn't anything to sneeze at though,a s the Yellow E2 ttrooper makes a superior Clone Pilot to all prior incarnations, and that's a great army builder.  Of course you need to keep one a Commander to tell your punk replacement Commander from the EE 4-packs to go get dirty or get off the battlefield! :)

The E3 Clone is a Bly grunt.  Short of the annoying helmet issue that figure is probably my 2nd favorite in the set just because Episode 3 was so military in nature.  Just getting a film-accurate Clone is a nice change of pace too, given that we've only gotten white troops so far, some EU troops, and the half-assed Gree repaint...  And of course Bly who is cool but you need his grunts in droves to mow down Aayla Secura out in the field.

The Sandtrooper may (or may not, as I like to believe) be a Clone, and for that I like that the set explicitly says "Clone To Stormtrooper", not simply Clone Evolutions.  Hasbro's way of being ambiguous too?  It's pretty cool though and the figure's only major flaw is his waist isn't articulated.  Beyond that, I'd take 100 (seriously) of the Sandtrooper with various pauldrons.  Even the first "**** smear" variant was fine by me.

Hasbro's got a winning set, so check out the review and keep your eyes peeled on "The Good...  The Bad...  & The Ugly Figure Reviews" column for me to pick off some more.  Hasbro gets the credit where it's owed and this time they did good by me.

Now we need more...  please?  Like, how about that Rebel Trooper Evolution set I REALLY need?  Padme, Obi-Wan, Luke, Han, and Leia wouldn't be shabby sets either though, ya know?

Hell, a Jedi Masters set with Qui Gon, Mace, and Yoda wouldn't be bad ideas to me either.

Other Collectibles / Re: darth vader "eva" lamp??!
« on: October 29, 2005, 05:08 AM »
???  Interesting...

I'm desperately looking for Star Wars Lava Lamps that Idea Nuevo advertised but which I've seen neither hide nor hair of ANYWHERE.  Not online, not on Ebay, not at stores, not in collections...

I gotta find these if they exist.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Target's "Attack on Coruscant" Clone 5-pack
« on: October 29, 2005, 05:05 AM »
They're still not sold out out here too...  Which surprises me.  Though there are noticeably less of them, but I only see 2 now whereas they had 5 or 6 the last time I was out to this same store, so that's odd that it seemed to take a moment to "hook" people.

Though I think the one lower traffic store I go to still has a ton of them, and Lava figures, etc., etc., etc...

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Battle of Geonosis Wave
« on: October 29, 2005, 05:03 AM »
Agreed that this is shaping up to be a weaker looking wave if true...

The Clone Commando's good news to me, but I'm sort of surprised they ran with figures based on a luke-warm game as far as popularity goes...  It's not like Rep Commando is being ranked as a top game right now, but what do I know.

Sun Fac...  A Geonosian that maybe can stand or won't melt and fall over when it gets about 60 degrees?

The repacks in general are poor at best, especially Jango (good god, not again).

CW SA Clone has to be the Trooper should he ship...  If not, heads should roll.

And that leaves the Weequay Jedi as the only thing of real interest on the list, haha.  :)

Whatta ya do with Geonosis though?  However I will say that some of those are asinine if true (like a Jango re-release).  Some weird Jedi though and resculpts are about all you have to work with though, so it's a tough one.  Didn't seem impressive of a wave though for sure, and the most repack heavy it seemed too...  or perhaps that's just how my disappointment focused my attention.  ;D

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Gas Prices
« on: October 29, 2005, 04:52 AM »
$2.19 in the PIttsburgh area at the "cheaper" gas places like Sheetz Stores...  I love Sheetz because they've basically been trying to keep things as cheap as possible for a chain...  I've been patronizing them because of that and letting them know that's why I am going there.

There's one station that's sort of between towns and I pass it very often on commutes.  This guy is ALWAYS $.10 - $.15 more per gallon than any other station.  He gouges because he's in EBF and knows he sorta has the locals in that area by the balls.  I wish they'd investigate places like this and hit them with some penalty of some sort.

And I still love Giant Eagle's "Get Go" stations for the fact that you get $$$ off for shopping for groceries there.  They're usually priced competitively anyway, but when you rack up $.10/gallon off with every $50 you spend at the store, you really can get a buttload of cheap gas.  My folks shop there so much and travel so little that they had almost, literally, free gasoline one day.  It was funny, I think they paid $.20 or so a gallon.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Gotta raise 'em right!

Kids were with me on a toy run tonight and had an interesting debate in the back of the car as to why the older boy thinks Legos are better and the younger boy wants the figures.

I'm still not sure who won, or really if the older boy isn't being contrary just to spite the younger...  Typical older brother stuff.  The argument was things like "Well you can't do much with the figures, but Legos move and things", which I found odd.  I think he likes that vehicles are a choice fo rhim with the Legos, I know that actually, but the younger boy sorta likes the figures because he knows I do...  I think he tags along in a way and gets stuff...

Weird debate on the way to the store though.

And of course in the grand scheme they both would drop this in a heartbeat for new video games.  That obsession never dies.

Middle Earth / Re: LOTR Trilogy Figures
« on: October 29, 2005, 04:42 AM »
Agreed, and sadly Toy Biz didn't see what they COULD have been doing to keep the line going.  Let's face it, the army builders in this line were a bitch to find for most, and they still are.  Orcs of all kinds are at a premium, the Rodian's could've had multiple releases and (gasp) one with a horse would've been nice and TB saw fit not to do the logical choice.

Easterlings, of course...  And then Haradirrim...  The Corsairs...  Orcs, Uruk Hai...  Gondorian horsemen, Gondorian Rangers, Faramir's Lt., More Gondorian soldiers...  And the people buying this stuff lately weren't the movie people necessarilly but the hardcore TOlkien fans who would buy all kinds of random stuff.  You could've milked this license for a while.

No men of Bree, no Dwarves besides Gimli...  There was more potential to it I think, had the line been widdled down to a collector-oriented thing, where they could've kept it alive with characters people wanted that were obscure and army builders, and not have killed the line like they did.  I mean, who honestly saw the Moria Goblin hardly at all?  These figures were a pain in the ass for people to find much less find multiples, so it was disappointing to say the least.

This could be a frightening glimpse into SW's future if their TV ventures flop.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: How does Obi-Wan know?
« on: October 29, 2005, 04:34 AM »
If I recall didn't Palpatine also refer to Anakin as Vader in the holo-security thing they watched at the Temple?  I know I saw this discussed one other time right after the movie was out.

I know there was confusion over how Yoda knew Anakin was called Vader too when he confronted Palps.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Rumors and Predictions
« on: October 29, 2005, 03:44 AM »
A lot of it's seemingly common-sense figures and guesses while a lot of it is stuff that's been "rumored" for years, so I take everything with a grain of salt...

There's a lot to like in the rumor mill though, and a lot to make many collectors have a smile on their face.  :)  Hopefully more of it's true than not because I know Hermi's the top alien figure I want, and he's been this "rumor" for far too long in my book.  Gotta have that apple eater.

Given how many people out there want Hermi Odle though, he was as good a bet as anyone could've made I think.  He's a must-have in the line kinda like Ephant was at one point.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Bonus Mini Hologram Figures
« on: October 28, 2005, 07:24 PM »
Hmmm,

I agree it's a bit on the slow side of Hasbro...  This is me thinking for the well-being of completist carded guys...  I don't personally care about the random packing of these but I do feel for you who DO care.

I will say that I like the idea of mini-holo figures.  I've supported that idea since, about 5 years ago a buddy of mine cast a mini Vader for me and other customizing buds and the figure is a must-have for with Veers.  Other mini-holo's are cool then in my book and could be useful to openers like myself.

How hard would it have been to just pack specific holos with specific figures though, and simply not doing a holo for some figures and repacking one of the other "main character" holos for with those odd background guys.  IE: pack Fett with a mini fett, but pack Barada with a mini fett as well, and pack Veers with a mini Vader, and Vader w/ mini Vader...  You get the idea.

Though, a mini holo Veers and Derlin wouldn't be bad IMO since I'd dig an Imp Officer mini holo for dioramas, and a Hoth Rebel mini holo like he's "reporting in" to the command center or some stuff.  Yeah I'm thinking too much.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Wanna waste 30 bucks?
« on: October 28, 2005, 07:19 PM »
Eh, when you get into "early release" stuff I think there's leeway with pricing.  Whatever...  I couldn't possibly justify it myself but to each their own.  Patience is my friend and since getting stuff early was never an option it doesn't bother me to wait...  I just wanna have it at some point at the price I think it's "worth".

But if you got $30 and want stuff early, more power to ya!  To me, $30's better spent on 6 army builders at WM or a couple military figures and a halftrack I've been eyeballing at the store. :)
