When the news ended tonight here there was word of the Pens going after Neidermeyer since they lost out on getting someone whose name escapes me now...

It's nice feeling excited for hockey again...  I'm ready. :)

You're right Dave, I got the Vader w/Table from Scott actually...  I barely got to talk to him at the show and remembered talking to you and Todd about stuff, just got confused.  Lots going on around me + beer = confusion.

I'm definitely interested, but I gotta figure out what they even have.  You were showing us something too, I forget what, that was from Paris's convention?  It was neat though, I remember that.  Very unique.

I'll PM you at the Pittsburgh site about it Dave...  Thanks for the reminder!

Revenge of the Sith / Re: NEW TIE Fighter
« on: August 2, 2005, 09:44 PM »
I'm not sure what to think by the pictures...  TIE's are rather small ships, so I'll reserve judgement till I can actually measure it myself and compare to ILM #'s as far as how accurately scaled the solar panels are.

Some shots make it look off, others make it look at least incredibly near to correct if not accurate.  Just tough to say.

The Pilot's lame if that's what we're getting.

If it's off, Hasbro's a bunch of douchebags though...  At this stage of the game, it's just excuseless considering any ammount it is off isn't HUGE, and could easily have been done properly.  Like the 12" line though, Hasbro's not been reliable with ships all the time.

BTW, for the curious, the TIE's have always been intended to be a blue hue from their original concepts on, but were changed to grey to accomodate the effects process.  As things were advanced though, they reverted to the blue in ESB and ROTJ as was intended.  EU doesn't touch on it much at all I don't believe, but I've seen people make the excuse that the TIE's go through a transformation where their alloys are comprised of different materials (stronger) on the later models so the greys of ANH are earlier weaker structures...

Yeah, I didn't see anyone with POTJ figs, Bob.  I did see a CT Han, and I saw POTF2 figures...  If I'd have gotten a droid like 2-1B or ASP-7, I'd actually have been completely content.  I love the ASP-7 droid actually.

Instead, Rebel Fleet Trooper...  Sheesh.

Anyway, I notice a lotta people around the net wishing for POTJ to come back, but as much as I like the line I really hope that only character choices are the kinds of things we see related to POTJ...  It's nice, but the line was still in the anti-articulation phase.  I'm actually pretty content with a lot of the OTC and POTC...  If the Cantina Wave from POTC were the standard, I'd be pretty happy in general.  Some figures may need an extra joint, or ball/socket over angle-cut here and there, but overall I liked POTJ for its time but its been surpassed in quality by many figures.  Even the ROTS line was an overall large improvement by direct comparison.  Comparing Agen Kolar and Eeth Koth alone makes me think along those lines.

Not by a longshot Alexander...  Scour Ebay and you'll get a better idea what they SHOULD be selling for.  It's the best resource when you're looking for current going rates/values on figures.

Toy Reviews / Re: New JD Review: Governor Tarkin
« on: August 2, 2005, 04:46 AM »
A more pliable skirt + slits up the side would've allowed for better leg articulation...  I'm to the point I'd rather see it on an Imperial Officer (generic) army builder figure though, rather than Tarkin from ROTS's cameo.

He doesn't do much, and his figure's "meh", so extra articulation would've been nice, but a more generic definitive Imperial officer sculpt with overall better articulation and a pliable plastic skirt-piece would be ideal at some point...  Use it as a Tarkin resculpt base and just start working out from there on generics and random Officers I think.

Sure thing Jay, PM me what you'd like for him...  That'd widdle things down a bit for me.

These are some of the neatest little collectables ever I think...  I only wanted the Plush but BK's are a bitch to find for me.  Not many left around Pittsburgh, and of course my area is the least likely to find a BK.  Used to have 3 within 15 minutes or so but they're all gone now.  Only one was within an hour away and it's a direction I never go anymore.

I appreciate the help!

Anyone else maybe have some?  The Boga, Jawa, and an extra Chewie would be appreciated greatly. :)

VOTC by my eyes, Jason.  The chromed dome is noticeable first, but the feet have the separate sculpt wiring, and judging by the pic I see the lines for the removable chest piece of the VOTC R2...  Don't see the tools though.

Sounds like it was fun down that way...

Apparantly some guy bit off some guy's ear at a bar called Carnivore's down there too (I've never even heard of that bar though).  I thought that was funny.  Glad it wasn't you Vaught or Tronz doing that.

Well, at least Chewie is rockin' and Leia's a nice figure to pose with an R2 figure for the recording sequence.  :-\

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Captain Antilles... He Sorta Sucks
« on: August 2, 2005, 12:52 AM »
Why is Bail so huge?  You can't even do a headswap from Antilles onto Organa!

(Antilles is the same height as #56 Obi-Wan, so that means Bail towers over all of the other "human" characters)...

Smits is 6'3" for the curious...  not a short man by any stretch.  He's about half a head taller than VOTC Han Solo which I view as sort of a definitive "average" height figure.  Clones could be considered that too if it weren't for the helmet throwing things off.  I'm ok with Bail's height then knowing he's as tall as my buddy Eric who noticeably stands over me and I'm average height.  MacGregor's not so tall I don't think, but I'm not sure.  He's 5'10" I think, which is my height, so a 6'3" guy would stand a bit above him.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: #55 Obi-Wan Kenobi-Red Leader Pilot

Buddy of mine picked one up at the Toy Show for $10 this past weekend...  Of course, after I was done rolling my eyes at his lack of patience I had to check the figure out since he opened it. :)

Fantastic...  Best Obi-Wan in the modern line, easily, and I'd gladly re-buy this figure for customs, and for an AOTC Obi-Wan.

Like CHEWIE said, it's worth having a handful just for in different dioramas.

BTW, if you're looking for a 2-finger-posed hand ala the GG fight, Obi-Wan's Outlander figure had a poseable hand sort of in that pose, so you very well may be able to pull that and put it into this Obi's left hand socket.  Just a thought, it's not terribly complex customizing by a long shot (if it's snug, run a little hot water over the hands to soften them, but I've found hands pop easily on Hasbro figures).

May answer your prayers Mike, so it's worth a shot if you can get an extra Outlander Obi.   :-\

The McTrooper's definitely a good repack...  Overlooked a lot too.  He's one I never saw at retail and I believe it was Matt who helped me get that figure.

He's a nice figure mostly though, looks pretty cool...  I'd hoped to nab a couple just for the parts, but now count myself just as lucky to have one.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Return of the Beast Assortments
« on: August 2, 2005, 12:31 AM »
The only thing I'd suggest is somehow making the packaging big enough tos neak the Bantha back out...  It's a great toy, one of the best in the modern line, and that with new pilot would rock.

But honestly, I could see this doing well overall if there were incentives to buy it besides the beast or vehicle.  For instance, a good pack-in pilot with something...  Like repaint the T-16 Skyhopper, maybe a slight retool on the cockpit so it's more realistic looking, and kitbash a Fixer figure (the parts for a good Fixer exist, a head may need sculpted is all).

Or do the Landspeeder with a single-piece "knocked out" Luke and a Tusken figure?  Hell, if a new Tusken was made for the basic line, a nice heavily articulated one with softgoods, you could pack him in with the Bantha painted uniquely, pack him in with the speeder painted uniquely, and pack him on a basic card...  Lotta mileage out of that sculpt.

I'd be all for the $20 pricepoint unified line if it had some nice quality to it.  A blue repaint A-Wing would fit nicely into this line as well, and would probably go over fairly well.  Again, a repainted Pilot body with a new head/helmet would be ideal, and cost little.  Lotsa incentive to get the items then.

On a Taun Taun series, I could easily see re-using the current Taun Taun sculpt, but for figures I'd kind of dig something new...  Or at least some articulated legs/arms (and a working holster) for Hoth Luke while using the Saga sculpt otherwise...  Whatever coat he's wearing.   :-*

BTW, I'd dig seeing the Wampa packed into an "Echo Base Defense" kind of a set.  A new Hoth Rebel with the tan vest, and carrying the heavy cannon they used...  That'd be rocking.

Hey, just dug through this thread and wanted to ask for some help from anyone who got extras of the plush.

I'm in desperate need of:

Jawa
Tarful
Boga

I'd like an extra Chewbacca as well if someone happened to have one.  If not cool, but those top 3 I REALLY need for a full set and just can't get them.

Anyone?
