Revenge of the Sith / Re: RotS Deluxe Clone 3-packs

I've heard that too Metal, but no use swearing on it...  I don't think Hasbro's said that is a definite.

If Target's doing it not even so much as their exclusives in the past, but as regular things that'll have dedicated shelf space, that's weird...  I wonder if the novelty will wear off?  Will they be higher production then?

Strange stuff, lotta questions...  The SW brand overall is seeing a weird turn between Hasbro's relationships with retailers, what Hasbro's thinking of making...  Stuff's just all over the place right now.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Happy for the "Slow Down"?

Yeah,d efinitely dry out at retail.  Even the KM stores near me are bare, and KM is NEVER bare of Star Wars stuff.

Hell, the one is devoid of ROTS figures except one Bail and one Mothma, but they have 2 pegs full of OTC on "sale" for full retail. :)

I've yet to see the Anakin Evolutions set which bums me out some, but that's ok.  It'll get here.  They flew off our KM store shelves though as they were out and gone within one day, seriously.  Every KM in the area got some, and they ALL sold.  That's nuts.  Some have even restocked and sold again.

I know when I go to Target, WM, and even TRU, the pegs are dwindling.  Main characters are gone, Clones haven't been available in any quantity since 4/2 really, secondary Jedi (save for the "girls") have moved well now, army builders are slowly selling...  Stand-out pegwarmers have been the Senators in the intiial waves now...

Last new fig I saw was a fluke in finding Bacara there alone at a Target.  No other figures.

Funny NOT finding figures in a movie year.  It's amazing what a good film, and good quality figures (overall) in a toy line can do for the popularity of the line.  Nice.

I actually like the figure too Matt, but the point stands that he's littering pegs in a film-used costume, so the silver paintjob "Commander" isn't a GREAT idea.

My like of the figure is that I think it looks good, and the Neimodian Gunner was a nice figure, he just isnt' popular.  I disagree with you some Michael on it NOT being an army builder because the character sucked, I think Hasbro over-estimated is all...  I've bought a handful, and will pick more up (especially come an expected clearance on these).

The figure's not perfect, but he's pretty close...  SHort of some knee articulation he's really poseable.  I have mine doing an assault on some Clones using Battledroid guns till I find a suitable rifle replacement for them.

He's a good figure, just a bad figure to re-release...  I like the new paintjob even, but like the Grievous Guard he's EVERYWHERE.  :(

I will say, my army builder glut are dwindling.  The Neimodian's lagging behind the Wookiee and Clone Pilot, but all 3 are moving VERY slowly.  In my neck of the woods, Bail and Mas Ameda are reigning pegwarmers.

This Neimodian's one of those figures where, as much as I love the figure and want more of it, I gotta just bite the bullet that what i want isn't what's good for retail at the moment.  Way WAY too many of this guy around for most.  He's not a bad figure though...  Give him the right gun and ball/socket knees and he'd be damn near perfect.

21st Century Toys had their one and only rendition of the Japanese Zero with them...  A hot commodity, and made BY HAND.  You think a repainted Commander figure's of value?  Try a scratch built 1:18 Japanese Zero that needed a little reworking...  Seems like Hasbro just having a painted figure is small stuff compared to what could happen if it was an only sculpt.  That'd be a bit more disasterous.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: TOMY Remote Control R2-D2 at SWS.com
« on: July 21, 2005, 12:14 AM »
So they had one of these things at the Hasbro Q & A panel down at Comic Con last weekend.  The Hasbro reps were all amped to show it off, and... the thing didn't work.  At all.  They fidgeted with it for a good 5 minutes in hopes of fixing it to show off to the few remaining folks at the end of the Q & A, but to no avail.

Looked real nice though, with a nifty little lightsaber remote and all.  Hopefully they'll work a little better than that when we finally get them in person...  :-\

So, in some distant manner, you guys witnessed a modern day, and tiny, reinactment of Lucas's prop guys pissing around with the original astromechs as they would topple over, go off track, break, and just not work. :)

Probably killed the batteries in it...  RC in this tiny scale eats batteries.  My gf's kids got these little RC cars from Radio Shack and they tend to not last real long.  I definitely see possibilities in those little cars though for moving droids.

I want an RC Mine Layer droid from the Sandcrawler now. :)

Revenge of the Sith / Re: "Evolutions" assortment...
« on: July 21, 2005, 12:11 AM »
I thought I either read that, or Hasbro mentioned it at C3 (no pics of it though), so I sorta wasn't surprised by the helmet, however seeing it is nice.

The VOTC styled figs, extra gear...  Evolutions is such a fantastic concept and Hasbro's apparantly tanking it after these 3 sets...  at least for a while anyway.  That bites.

Sorta hurts knowing that so many great Evolutions sets that people have tossed about on the forums aren't gonna happen as of right now...  I truly hope they rethink the decision to cut the line.  I'd much prefer this to VOTC honestly.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Eopie - ROTS style
« on: July 21, 2005, 12:07 AM »
Hah, more Clones. :)

I'd actually like the Eopie re-released as a "beast" in an assortment perhaps down the road, as I'd like the QGJ that rides him...  However, I'd not mind seeing it repacked in some Tatooine pack...  It would be a motivating factor for me to buy repacked figures actually.

Lots of Eopie's on Tatooine, and I'd like a handful myself for just that reason.  Seeing it packed into a TRU styled 4 (or 5) pack of figures would be nice...  Dunno what else to pack in with it, but a droid and 3 or 4 other figures wouldn't hurt.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Elite Clone Troopers?
« on: July 20, 2005, 11:59 PM »
The guy selling these isn't a customizer, nor known for selling customs.  Not much is being said on them, but right now I'm thinking they're NOT customs but something due out sometime in the not-too-distant-future.

Are they cool?  I think so...  I'm a fan of the non-film figures so long as they're good figures on their own.  Price is up in the air (as with everything else anymore)...  I'd like an army if I could find them for a good price.  I'd like a squad if I could find them for a fair price.  I'd like a team if I could find them for an unfair price.  I'd like 1 if it's going to be too expensive for my tastes/spending limitations.

I like the pauldron, and I like the colors.  Could use a little more color, but he's cool as he is too.

Like other non-film (and non-eu even) repaints, I like it.  The films aren't "everything" for me as a collector/army builder.

19585
I look at the Bacara and TE Gunner's thing as a Pauldron...  Seems like the Clones just had a variety of them (as far as their "look" or physical construction)...  Why that is, I'm totally clueless.  Maybe the Clones made them on their own by their specific legions, but the Empire stripped them down to a specific uniformed style for all troopers with the colors meaning the same across the board.

At least that's how I'm looking at things right now.

On the "skirt", I think it's more means of a Commander establishing himself as unique among his men, and perhaps paying some tribute to the Republic's most elite Clones too...  I dunno.  I wouldn't think it would hinder movement or be a "problem" for troops and movement.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Zombie Movie Memorabilia Question...
« on: July 20, 2005, 05:16 PM »
My buddy's with a group who are starting a local TV show called "Its Alive".  He's doing make-up effects for it I guess.

Anyway, Pittsburgh used to have a show called Chiller Theater with a guy called Chilly Billy that hosted it and stuff...  It was a late-night bad horror film show, it washosted, had skits and stuff...  This new show my buddy's a part of is trying to resurrect that...  I guess Chiller Theater was the first show of its kind, and their concept for their show is very similar but some modern twists too.

You Zombie guys would like the commercial they did for Phantom Of The Attic Comics here in the city.  Zombies attack the store's owner and stuff, all shot just like original NOTLD footage.  Funny.

My buddy's annoying as hell about talking about the show, but it actually looks interesting to me now that I've seen its website.

Nothing like Matt coming in and going all GNT(T) on us to totally dispell all this happy sappy talk.  Nice.

I missed the Myth Busters episode that was gonna pick apart the Jaws films.

Did they figure out if a great white could be blown up by shooting oxygen tanks?

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Question...
« on: July 20, 2005, 01:09 AM »
Wait dafoo...  You said you like articulation but think Kenner's better? :)

I love Vintage collecting...  It means a whole other thing to me really, but I don't look at Vintage figures and think "this is better".  It's fun, but for different reasons.  Hasbro's stuff's "better" to me (mostly) though in sculpt, articulation, features, junk like that...  However, it's comparing apples and oranges, but given what oranges we have to compare to the apples, I'd still say Hasbro's apples are better than Kenner's oranges.

Under the Hasbro umbrella, Action Fleet has been produced...  Quite a bit actually.

Condensing brand/company names under Hasbro's title is a simplification of things.  This means good things for us ultimately, as it means good things for Hasbro ultimately.  I'm ok with that if it means we don't see the Kenner or Galoob names.  They're just words at this point, but some of their employees are still there at least.
