I have some good pictures of the one from the Lucasfilm archives at C3.

You do it up like that and I'll bring flowers to every cubicle at your offices.

Advice to all: NEVER give a stranger who asks you "what figures are hard to find?" a valid answer - tell him/her that the hard-to-find figures are Bail Organa and Mon Mothma or something else.

I have actually done this...  And it has worked.  And I did this very recently actually, and it did indeed work.  The guy walked away with a couple Jedi figures that weren't particularly plentiful but not hard to find anywhere by any stretch.

They didn't have anything I wanted that day, but I sure didn't point him in the right direction.  My favorite line is that "The Clones may seem like the right choice for rarity, but they'll be so abundantly made that they won't be worth a thing".  The guy bought that completely and left the #6 Clones on the peg.  I hated the long, and drawn out conversation we had...  It was a whole lotta "These are just for kids, but it's easy to make a buck off them too at my table..." kinda crap.  It's amazing who you seem to have to interact with when you're just trying to buy some figures you want.

Hey Chris,

Good having you on here man.  Always nice seeing another ship customizer around.  They're the lesser traveled area of customs, but one I'm really into so it'll be nice having you around.

Any Q's, just ask away.

Take it easy man,

JJ

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Celebration Spectaculer Footage

It's a song from Van Helsing, yes.  It's rearranged and stuff, but definitely from the Van Helsing soundtrack (if you've ever heard the original, there's no mistaking).

I honestly would've liked to have had this song, as it is in the montage, as a single.  It's really good.  Not as nice on the Van Helsing soundtrack however.

I actually did play some of it...  Followed it a while but I haven't really looked at it of late.

The reason I really didn't care for the conversion was that the physics, especially those related to ranged combat, of the JO or JA engines are so outta whack and generally piss-poor that it didn't have the same "fun" to it that Dark Forces did.  The balance just isn't there.

Ranged weapons in JO and JA have SUCKED, and I've yet to see anyone able to really adapt it so they ever equaled the quality of JK or DF.  JO and JA expect you to go hog-wild with the saber and force powers more than using blasters and such, so the blaster dynamic just never got the attention it deserved.

That's why I long for Lucasarts to do a NEW game for Katarn's storyline, but set somewhere either prior to DF in timeline, or just after it and before the JK storyline.  Really work on blaster weapons and things, really make us feel like that JK/DF feeling where any weapon was useful...  well, practically.

The conversions are good for a trip down memory lane though, if you can't get DF to run on your system.  I can't get DF to run with sound, but I can get the game itself to run.  For some reason though, and I've tried everything under the sun to fix it, that sound just won't work for me.

I was really hoping that Rep. Commando was gonna usher in a new age of "realistic" shooters for Star Wars, but I was let down to see that they had "super" enemies, unrealistic powers, many relatively useless weapons, etc...  Not at all what I was hoping for since I was rather wanting a "Tom Clancy"-esque type of shooter instead, with some tactical elements mixed in.  It was a much more watered-down version of that with poorer weapons in the game I felt.

Fun to run through on a weekend, but not gonna make SW first-person gaming like it was back when Jedi Knight came out.

Yeah I was wondering if you'd actually pulled that from FC or complete coincidence on a name.  Neat seeing an EU planet show up in your photonovels CHEWIE.  Especially one from relative obscurity.  It deserves some recognition.

Hmmm...

I'm torn on liking him now.  Helmet sounds cool, arms sound passable (if you give him a new gun anyway, that gun he has is incredibly ****-tacular), but no knee articulation blows for any army builder after the greatness that is the 4/2 army builders.

Hell, even some of the non-army builders really.

Anyway, I'll take a few but I'm not going nuts with this one I think.  If I can find a good rifle for them that matches their EU appearance (or guns they have in the films...  I somehow doubt they're all packing an attomic bomb launcher like that) then I'll maybe nab more...

The leg articulation is a bummer Jeff, sad to hear that.  The arms may be too.  Hmmm

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: Best Stormtrooper ????

Without a doubt it's the VOTC.  No comparison really.

Some people have cited very minor inaccuracies in the sculpt, but it's mostly Stormtrooper Die-hards.  I know that people have used the Bust-Up Stormtrooper head to make customs using the VOTC body, as they say the Bust-Up's helmet is 100% accurate while the VOTC has a slight sculpt difference that isn't as accurate...

For what it's worth though, the VOTC is a well made figure all around in my book, save the lame-o holster.  Superior to any Stormtrooper prior to it.

How DARE you unsticky my topic!?

Eh, yeah, it was time to come down, I just haven't gotten to it.  All about a new one for C4 though!  Wooo!

Matt WANTS to customize, he just needs another thing to collect/be into I'm sure.  ;)  Seriously though Matt, you know you wanna start breaking figures apart and making them anew.  I know you do, you know you do...  Just accept it!

Hmmm... been a hold-up on posting the redone version of Crisis on Abridon.  Sorry.

Anyways, here's another poster of figures, this is from the 3rd story, Anti-Jedi.

 :P

CHEWIE,

Did the Abridon name come to you or did you pull that from EU?  I was curious because the only place I've heardit mentioned before is in a game I love but I haven't seen others list it in their fan-fic work before.  Just wondered.

Anyway, onto the figures...

Great as always.  That Corba terrorist is interesting.  A nice design.

I have to agree with the sentiment that Xixor looks great.  Far superior to Hasbro's figure, and very sinister in robes.  I'd almost like a new Xixor after seeing yours (almost...  I still don't like that series, haha)

Pretty good stuff all around.  Definite inspiration for potential future fan-fic customs too.  Always have those floating around in my head.

I laughed out loud when I read the "Yes" part. The guy must have only heard the carded part. :P

That whole thing happened more than once.  I, in my poor judgment, took a seat in the back and they didn't hear my question clearly at all.  I even tried deepening my voice, and it still didn't get up to them as clearly as I wanted because their answer didn't even jive with what I really asked.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Neimodian Army
« on: May 4, 2005, 01:09 AM »
Depends on the Neimodian's quality more than anything...  I haven't seen the figure first-hand yet to really judge, but if it's a good figure, I'll stock up.  They seem to be a race heavy enough in the war to warrant amassing an army to fight Clones.

I wonder if they sport a removable brain bucket or not...  I like that Lucas ran with an EU design on these that was established, rather than establishing his own idea on them.
