Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Lone Gunman Storms Mall-Opens Fire

Remember, we don't do the War, Politics, Religion and the like...  This keeps leaning towards a debate on the gun control issue and I'll lock the thread.

Try to keep it about just the news on the story...  Not that there is much.

Last I heard the only thing new was the recruiter shot was maybe going to need his leg removed which is a shame.  The whole thing is odd from start to finish though and makes no sense.  I'm amazed he didn't kill someone, and something makes me think perhaps he didn't want to...  The mind of the mentally ill is perplexing to say the least, but I can't imagine emptying a clip somewhere (I'm assuming) relatively busy and not actually taking a life.  Just seems odd.

Well, at least nobody got killed, and hopefully it won't spark mimics...

Anyway, keep it on topic and civil guys, thanks.

Pretty low key at the Casa Pearson tonight, wifey got her second root canal in 6 months.  Whee!  So I drank a beer and she enjoyed her shake from DQ and she went to bed...ah married life with 2 wee ones :P

Hah, classic.  The honeymoon's over. :P

Good to have quiet time though...  That's probably just as nice.

I celebrated Friday night...  We went to dinner at a restaurant I had to book reservations at about a month in advance.  Great place if you're ever in Pittsburgh (my favorite) called Hoffstot's Cafe Monnaco.

We dined, and I got sticker shock on how much beef rose in price...

We went into the city then to meet my buddy and his girlfriend for drinks at Station Square's bars.  Hooked up with them at a small place then went to a new club we'd not tried yet down there.  Drank, talked, went home...

I gave my girl a jewelery set with rubies and diamond chips (I'm no jewelery expert so terminology escapes me), flowers, card, a stuffed monkey who I wanted to have a Jedi outfit made for him (heh) to geek it up but that fell through...  Oh, and a box of 30 gal. garbage bags.

Don't ask, it was a joke only she could've gotten or laughed at. :)

We had a good night...  Fun Fun Fun!

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: ROTS Picture Thread

I think Lucas wants early hype built...  This is his last hope to really make a big buck on Star Wars if he is indeed adhering to ending the films here.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Hyerspace Question
« on: February 14, 2005, 12:25 PM »
My problems were from probably around Sept. of last year or so...  I was searching for the emails but I must've deleted them all when I got my access all hashed out, otherwise I'd just have given you that email for the person handling it so you could at least resort to it if/when you run into trouble.

I kept calling the Fan Club who'd divert me to SW.com who'd send me to the Fan Club number again and back and forth...  It took me getting pretty rude before I got somewhere on it, and like I said it was probably 2 months or so before I did finally get a code emailed to me.  Pissed me off pretty good because I was irked that I was being forced to get the HS account when all I wanted was to get the magazine and just be a fanclub member like I always have been.

Typical Lucasfilm though, where they gotta milk you for ever penny and make it nothing but grief for you at the same time.  >:(

It was hit or miss for me Broem...  I had a hell of a time getting a code off them but I hear they've improved this leg of their combining Hyperspace with the Fan Club, so I dunno.

I had an email for the woman who specifically was handling these codes, because after much run-around between the Official Site and anyone else they could pass the buck onto, I finally annoyed them to the point that I got this woman's personal email for it...  Of course when I was ready to email her they'd finally figured it out.

It was a terrible hastle though...  I was hell-bent on it though considering they forced me to buy it, and actually I've found it relatively useful from a customizer's point of view...  I wouldn't have bought it any other way though other than being forced.

Anyway, I think most people are saying lately that it's easier getting your code and should only be a matter of a couple weeks after your subscription's cleared...  Typical "slow" business time periods...

It was months before I got mine though last year.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS carded figures
« on: February 14, 2005, 07:03 AM »
We're in for a pretty big year for figures.  Among maybe the best figures of the modern line, period.  As happy as I am to see such greatness in the figure world, there's part of me that just feels "cheated" that the classic trilogy doesn't really have basic figures this nice...  not in great abundance at least.

Off-hand, I'd only label the Cantina wave and VOTC as being near the caliber of the basic figures (and VOTC shouldn't count since they were $10 a pop) we've seen for E3...  I mean, even the C1 figures don't look BAD like they did for AOTC's lineup.

I really hope this is something that carries over, and that we start seeing new, and resculpted figures from the classic trilogy that rival or surpass a lot of these ROTS figures.

Hah!  If you can find me!  I'm like a phantom...  Stealthy.  One minute I'm here, then I'm gone...

Oh who am I kidding, I'll be standing in a single spot in various lines for hours on end I'm afraid. :(

The Original Trilogy / Re: Why have a 2nd Death Star in ROTJ?
« on: February 12, 2005, 06:47 AM »
I agree that, from a filming standpoint, it was just a cop-out...

Thinking of it in terms of "reality", I don't think it's necessarilly a bad idea...  not sure on it being built at the same time as the DS1 or anything...  I think it's POSSIBLE (in my opinion of the Empire and SW universe in general) to have a DS whipped up in a matter of time between the films (years).

I don't know...  I think perhaps it was just getting started maybe when the first one was completed.  Sure one's nice but isn't a second one, even an improved one, nice to have?

Really the concept behind the DS is nice...  It's big, it flies around, it blows **** up...  You fix the exhaust issues and it's really a terror weapon unmatched.  It's the ultimate space-faring vessel really.

So in that sense, I see it as "if at first you don't succeed, try try again", and I can accept that excuse...  I agree though that it was really a bit of a cop-out from a filming stnadpoint though.  I think Lucas wanted ROTJ to be the bigger and better ANH he envisioned sort of, while still concluding his story he had going.

I like ROTJ better than any prequal...  That says a lot for it I think.  Cop-out or not, I still think it's a good film.

And I like the DS2...  Bigger, more accurate, and the Endor Space Battle still ranks as one of my most favorite moments of Star Wars.  If only it were actually enhanced via the SE CGI work.  It could stand to be even bigger and more hective IMO.

Remember Night Court?

I object!  To the tingling sensation I'm feeling...

Great show but Markie Post was just a prime piece of woman...  She was still hot when Something About Mary came out too.  Kind of a MILF thing going on.  That was a blast from the past Dale, good choice!

One I wholeheartedly agree with but would've never even thought of.

Well that or a slop playing a game of grab-ass with her.  Matt would never do that though. :)
