Revenge of the Sith / Re: Episode III line....April 2nd, 2005
« on: November 5, 2004, 01:26 AM »
He's been posting at Rebelscum too, and what I find odd is that "production" ceased LONG ago...  On OTC and VOTC.

He keeps throwing the term"Production" around, and how it stopped, which to me says he doesn't know what he's talking about.  Point, blank, period.

It isn't like there's just factories over the pond churning these out continuously.  Toys are made in batches, and reorders of product are placed should they be deemed necessary.

In the case of OTC, things have been "limited" to an extent for the duration of the line, and the OTC line itself was made as a filler line for the DVD release...  Production was started at one point, and ceased so that product would ship for the orders that were requested from retail.  Simple.

Orders for OTC AFTER the fact would be moot, and the buyer would be told (Should be told he's an idiot for not knowing his product) "The production of that line's done, we have new cases available to you in this time of year, order them, they're transition figures into E3 stuff".  In maybe loose terms there...

VOTC, again, was something with a set run for production.  Retail gave its opinion on what was offered, Hasbro put in an order for a set ammount, and Hasbro (quite plainly) made it clear that when it's done, it's done.  No more VOTC will be made/shipped after that point because they're getting ready for E3.

This guy posting this news, and talking about it at Scum and things, seems more intent on starting a mass panic that "OTC and VOTC are Cancelled!  Buy them while you can!", rather than saying that this was the reality of the OTC line and most every other line Hasbro has made.

Yes OTC and VOTC are "done".  Did everyone think they'd last into ROTS product or something?  There's not much time between now and then...  There's lotsa stuff in the pipelines for stores, things are just now going out to the retailers for X-Mas, and it'll include the transition figures come December and into next year.

Maybe I'm just missing the guy's point...  But "production" stopped on OTC and VOTC a long time ago...  It's not news, and not surprising, and it's not like there's going to be a surprise shortage of figures really.  Some seemingly are getting shafted on production, but how many basic OTC figures really shipped heavily at all?  Not many except NEW figures that Hasbro thought would sell the best.

It's really just confusing "panic" I'm seeing right now...  It's a shame people start these rumors because now Rebelscum's all aflutter with the people thinking they're now not going to ever find VOTC figures because they're being short-produced somehow.  I wouldn't be surprised if there's the exact same # of ROTJ VOTC figures as there are ANH, they're just being distributed differently.  That's me though...  Either way, Production stopped LONG before this guy "figured it out", and then subsequently, "broke the news" as it were.  ::)

I currently have 6 opened here.

1's lying dead, in an incredible "gut-holding" pose with his lifeless legs propping his lower body on its side (to accomodate the grenade).

1's fallen beside him, but is crawling towards his squad-mates, firing away with his E-11 while looking down his body at who attacked them.

1's got his left hand on his holster after undoing his E-11 and he's blasting away with it one-handed with his right hand.

1's kneeling behind the two prone troops, giving them support with his E-11 to help the struggling troop to relative safety.

1's holding the BFG the Sandtroopers had...  The T-21.  He's the team's support gunner, and he's doing his job standing behind my Alarm Clock for cover, and actually firing the rifle with his right hand and cradling it with is left...  Dunno what's up with the big stabilizer on the side of it.  Dumb.

And finally, 1's using the other Sandtrooper rifle, the one Chewie used on the DS.  He's giving some support as the team sharpshooter, also nicely tucked behind the Alarm Clock for cover.  :)

These things are Sooooo cool.  :)

Guy did the same thing to me on a gutted Queen's Starship I was selling to Minis gamers who wanted it as a playing dio...

First guy mailed me about it, and was interested, but never got in touch to my replies so after 3 days I gave it to the next guy.

Never did get a reply, and I wasn't gonna screw over the guy who was willing to buy it  for the guy who wasn't even capable of typing a reply.

It was sweaty firehall hot...  Like a redneck wedding in August because she's due to have her twins in September kinda hot.

Know what I mean Dean?

I just walked in myself...  45 minute wait in line to vote.  It's been a steady stream throughout the firehall all night.  The voting would go quicker if the old biddies working the election board would get their collective asses in gear.

There's 6 booths and at no point were all 6 filled.  That needn't be as painful as they made it.

There were times 1 person was voting.

My dad's cousin is the head of the group (my mother used to do it actually), and while she knows her stuff, the women working with her were ancient and were busy yakking to people they knew.   :-\

Plus it was hot...  It's November in Pittsburgh, and it's friggin' hot, and that firehall was hot...  Damn.

By all means, drool...

Before your eyes, witness the raising of the bar in 1:18 aircraft, as BBI sets benchmarks that every company must now live up to.

Hasbro, take notes, because your vehicles suck the sweat from a dead man in comparison to this thing of beauty.

By the way, Hasbro's pack-ins now officially wreak of "cheap" when compared to this plane's figure which not only sports super articulation, but removable officer's cap, leather flying cap, goggles, and oxygen mask.

Hasbro gives us what?  An underscaled , rehashed Y-Wing with cheaply kitbashed figure for $30 when BBI gives us this to-scale, brand-new sculpt, intricately detailed/sculpted, intricated decoed, licensed (for the noseart/designation), amazingly accurate plane with tons of separate and moving/functioning parts, as well as a pilot pack-in with tons of accessories and articulation.  And they give us that for $15 - $20 more.

Feeling ripped off by the "Big H" yet?

That...

Is...

Incredible.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Return Kilbourne to Daily Show
« on: November 2, 2004, 03:51 AM »
Being that it's fake news, it's inevitable that the show's going to dump on anyone in the public eye, liberal or conservative, so while I can clearly see Stewart's leanings towards liberal the show itself clearly makes fun of everyone...

I watch it every night, and they really don't pick sides IMO...  Of course Bush is going to take a little more flak at the moment, just as Kerry would if he were president.  The show has always been that way in my view.

As far as Stewart Vs. Kilbourne, I think it's a matter of opinion, but the show's never had the success it has now under Kilbourne so I'm hesitant to say Stewart isn't legitimately a better host.  Kilbourne was good though, so that's a tough call at best.

The ratings for the show are at all-time highs though I guess, it's winning awards left and right, it's considered one of the better shows on TV right now I guess...  I can't really complain.  I like it as it is...  I was sort of fearful with the last loss of reporters like Steve Correll, but the new people are filling in great or even better...

It's one of the few shows I watch every night I'm home, so I'm pretty happy as it is, and hope Stewart's on the show for the long-haul.  To me it's a situation of not messing with perfection...  Only tweak I'd make is to have Lewis Black's reports on a little more frequently since he's one of my top 3 comics, but I could see where too much "Back In Black" could clog the show up some.  Only so much time...

Overall though, I love The Daily Show just fine as it is myself.

Hmmm...  A douche or a turd sandwich.

Decisions, decisions...   :)

I'm a bit more critical than you Dim, but even with my criticism I'm still pleased as punch with the figure.  It's great to me.

The VOTC are, for the most part, everything the line should be, and should've been from the start.  Great stuff, and figure bliss for me!

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: Silver Vader Part 2!

Not I, though I'm gonna need a minty mint one to also keep my collection going.

As much as I wish they'd STOP with these figures, I have to say a complete mint carded set is sorta neat to have.  Like having a loose FreezeFrame or Force File set, or for a vintage nod a loose set of coins.

They're just something different...  One of the few things I hang to carded.

*cough*playmates*cough*

Seriously though...  I think that's just speculation on the scale changes and such, as a reason for a major hike in price, but...  it happens, as with the PM Trek line(s).  Anything's possible.
