Yeah, it looks like they only showed product through August.  I'm hopeful San Diego will have at least as many surprises.  Here's hoping they include any sort of Clone vehicle, like a gunship.

Do you think the 8-pack Cinema Scenes will still come in the size we're used to?  Something smaller like the Transformers?  Still $20?

Ackbar and Rebel Fleet Trooper basically terminate my must haves to complete an acceptable OT assortment.  Unbelievable.  With Lama Su, young Boba, and the yellow E2 commander, that movie is getting close, too.  Zam would pretty much do it, though a Captain Typho and Dexter wouldn't hurt.

Episode 1, though... geez... every time new product gets announced I'm bummed by no Watto.

At the show and in the presentation they were showing the Porkins set with a repack of the bigger, electronic, Red 5 (and they tossed in an R4-P17?).  Previous photos had shown the smaller open/closing x-wing, with new generic (or Red 6ish) markings.  I'm vaguely curious to see what they ended up actually shpping (does the bigger x-wing even fit in a standard Cinema Scene?).

 :o  Outstanding!

I wonder if that's a projectile between its front legs,  or maybe like a magnetic target for the snownspeeder hook?

So, this item was part of the Target Leak that's been on the front page:

Quote from: Target Computer
...
-  087-06-0635 SW GH Playset Hero Set $39.99
...

I might as well speculate on it.  GH probably = Galactic Heroes.  Playset probably does not = playset, but = target speak for Cinema Scene.  $39.99 is the Millenium Falcon price point.  Here are three guess:

1.  Millenium Falcon going non-exclusive.  I didn't get the feeling the MF set lit the world on fire (saw LOTS of 'em sitting long after the fact)... but it did seem like another WM disaster as far as being available to the right people in the right places at the right time.

2.  AT-AT.  Hasbro not-denied this possibility all the way through 2008, but who knows what that means.  It would be way awesome, but, and I can't beleive I'm saying this, I'd rather (b/c my kids would MUCH rather) see...

3.  AT-TE.  I think a clunky little AT-TE would absolutely rock for the Heroes, and I could see a good one squeezing down to $39.99.

I could also see this all being very ridiculous speculation.

I guess it's supposed to be all, I dunno, poignant or something, when things happen like Aayla rescuing the clone who kills her in Episode 3...

but I'm increasingly just finding it irritating.  The Clone Wars has already been a lot of fun... so much fun that I'd be happier just divorcing it from the Prequels and the whole Anakin storyline.  In my world, there should be some rocking Clone Wars, then 30 years of off-screen evolution that eventually spits out a full-on evil Darth Vader and evil Stormtrooper Empire without us having to watch it happen.  These little reminders here and hints there aren't helping make Order 66 seem even more devastating, they're just making it harder for me to ignore how clumsy I found the whole affair.  I'm sure I'm probably wrong somehow, and I'd rather not feel this way, but this seems to be how I'm feeling about it.  Can't I just root for Anakin and the Clones and be left alone?

Seems like they voiced [jar jar] with a different actor this time.

Yeah, that was odd.  I didn't want to be bothered by it, but I found it extremely distracting.  I never think about any of the other characters voices, but all I could think about was, "that's not Jar Jar.  that's not Jar Jar."  I didn't notice anything in the Rodia episode, so I'm confused.  If they have another voice actor do the upcoming Ach Med Best character... well, my feeble brain can't even wrap itself around how bizarre a concept that is.

Also, boooo to non-complete-season DVD releases.  It's exactly 0% surprising, but still, BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!1!!!!!!!!!!!!11!!!

Quote from: Star Wars Action News - Hasbro Q&A

8/24/2008 Q&A
SWAN:
"We noticed on the Galactic Hero Jedi Starfighter set, as is typical with these large sets, along the back of the box are cartoon pictures of the figures/beasts/vehicles included. One of the pictures on this set is of a Battle Droid. Also, on top of the box where it list the names of the figures/beasts/vehicles included are the words Battle Droid. But when the pack was opened, there is no Battle Droid. I know it wasn't just mine that didn't have the droid as none of the boxes on the shelf did, nor is there a designated place for one in the pack. I know how sometimes colors can change from pictures on the box to what the actual product looks like...but this pack is missing a whole figure that is advertised to be included. Should we return this set and wait for a new, complete version to be released? "

Hasbro:
"Sorry for the confusion, the plan was to add a battle droid to the set, but issues prevented it from actually being able to be used for the product.  Since the contents of the set are very clearly seen through the window box, and consumers would be able to see what it comes with when making a purchase, it was deemed acceptable to release the packaging as is.  What you are seeing is a 'first production box' an over-label will be added to the second production batch to eliminate any mention of the battle droid."

1.  Nice.  Thanks, Hasbro.  Sure, we shouldn't expect them to say, "yeah... don't buy this thing we made."  However, they're still usually up front with 3.75 collectors about things like this.  Say, announcing the next batch of Boba Fett's will be coming with the corrected markings, or whatever.  It's not like even 1 in 10,000 Galactic Heroes Jedi Starfighter buyers would have listened to that interminable* SWAN podcast.  Why even have the Q&A if the answers are going to be misleading?

2.  I remember having the most irritating time getting this answer the first time, as it is buried in the middle of an 8 hour long "live anniversery" podcast.  Glad I went to the trouble. ::)   It wasn't any better finding it this time around, either.

Were those the only 2 style of the Playdoh/GH sets that you saw? How much were they?

Yup, just those two.  I want to say they were only $7.99, but I can't swear to it.

I grabbed the Dewback Cinema Scene and the Obi-Wan w/ Jedi Starfighter that actually has the battle droid.

Wait, that's a thing now?  They're seriously shipping that scene with the battle droid?   Really?

Is it all beige with no rank markings, like the box art?

grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble grumble

ETA:  Just checked eBay... yup, shipping with the unranked battle droid.

So, I stumbled on these things in the isle at Target last night.  Hadn't heard of them before.  The figures are attached to those bases and appear not to have any articulation.  The bases are some type of play-doh stamp.  Each has, I think, a personalized emblem - like for pressing a wax seal.

Also, my target had reset its toy aisles, but a couple sections, including Star Wars, were starkly barren.  I might need to stalk it, as these first GH waves of the year always seem to pull a vanishing act.  Random note: some type of gaming cartoon called Bakugan (from Nelvana) had a humongous shelf allotment, fwiw.

We opened up the Skiff set last night.  Hasbro did another stunning job with this thing!  I wasn't very excited when it was announced - skiffs always seem like they'd make better toys than they actually do, and that's before you add in those huge Galactic Heroes feet.  Plus, the photos looked a little... blah.

Hasbro, though, geeze, they nailed it.   You can easily get 4-5 guys on there, no problem.  That console can be slid forward and back.  It lets you get a dude behind it with a minium of real estate taken up; plus it can act just a little bit like a harness.  Not much, but enough for little hands to fly around a single-pilot skiff.

Also, because I haven't seen it mentioned, it turns out the Arena Padme in the terrible Nexu set is actually a new repaint.  It's nothing too fancy - but she has been repainted to have a "ripped" shirt.

I saw the newest (Clone Wars) 2 packs at SuperTarget this weekend, priced at $6.99 each.

Watch your fingers at Target.  Some of the GH 2packs ring up at $14.99.  They also have some of the new G1 Robot Heroes ringing up at $10.99.

Thanks for the heads up.  I came across half of the new wave (Obi/Cody and Anakin/STAP) at Target today, and they were indeed scanning at $14.99.  The other left-behind sets from that case, the repacks, were scanning correctly at $6.99.  I assume I could have talked somebody into selling them to me for the correct price, but I found the whole thing irritating enough that I just left them behind.  I'll pick up all 4 new sets when I can find them at a store that hasn't set up the possibility of me accidentally getting soaked for some reason.

Also, for anyone that cares, the Padawan Anakin/Ph-1 mixed repack that is re-shipping with these sets now has a blue clone trooper who's been repainted to be more Clone Warsy 501st instead of another Episode 2 Lieutenant.  The blue officer dots are gone, and the helmet has been repainted more or less in a blue version of that orange trooper from the Obi Wan mixed repack this July.  I didn't pay attention to any Padme/Ph1 mixed repacks, but I assume they would have the same update in red.

By the way, that's my line in the sand.  No repainted troopers in mixed repacks for me; and not just because these are SUUUUUUPER uninteresting repaints.  I'll be passing on even the more interesting ones (like orange, purple, or even the tiger-helmet guys w/ Plo Koon if they happened that way).  Two repainted troopers together?  I'd be back in - even for ph1 officers without the dots.

I'm not sure where they pulled them from, but our TRU randomly came up with a pair of the Space Whale Gunships for $5 each.  I went ahead and picked one up to, I dunno, sit in a box with my ARC 170?  I've never done that move where you bring toys to set on your desk, but the relics of this line seems like an excellent candidate for that... maybe without the plastic bubble that I still don't totally understand.

I only want the Dragon Snake from those sets. Don't think i can justify a purchase even though i did basically buy the other set just for the Nexu  ::)

It's funny that I have your exact same attitude on that dragonsnake.  Maybe it's because we actually see the Nexu on screen?  Because the Reek was always essentially 1/3 of an incomplete set?  Because I'm simply not giving my kids a 3rd X-Wing (or a 4th like 2 months later), yet disposing of a cool Dagobah specific X-Wing we don't have is somehow different than disposing of extra figures we do?

Seriously, I've enjoyed complaining about the Nexu for months... but I don't even like THINKING about that Dagobah set.  Still, neither is going to compare to the inevitable Nexu/Aaklay set.

Zazzle's customizables are great.  They're really good about returns, too.  I got a baseball tee with underwater Kit Fisto from [no "The"] Clone Wars a couple years back that fit too small, and they took it back and replaced it with a larger one at no cost.

That was actually part of my family ordering a nerdy, matching round of blue Clone Wars shirts:
Kit Fisto for me
Asajj Ventriss for the wife
Blue Arc Trooper for my then 3 year old
Durge for the then baby

I also got a mutated Nelvaan Warrior shirt from them around that time that is all kinds of awesome.

OMG.  Apparently there was a bottom to that picture...

...and apparently (I assume) that bottom includes a new MSRP.

Boy, we've sure raced to 3 Jar Jars in a hurry, no?  It's amazing that he's one of the few figures I don't have a problem with in Wave 5.  Senator Jar Jar, right?  That's pretty awesome.

Okay...I wasn't counting Mace & Clone.

Understandable - Hasbro shouldn't be counting them either.
