Yes, out of every player interviewed, the media ONLY ever focuses on TO, every Sunday, week-in-and-week-out...  Only Owens.  ;)

Talk about living in a fantasy world.  Re-read my post and tell me where I said that Owens was the ONLY player scrutinized by the media.  Of course they cover other players and they are willing to sensationalize anything that would cause contraversy.  That's why they cover Owens so much, because you can almost guarante he's going to say something other than the usual PC that comes from everyone else.

The point was that TO gets a hell of a lot more media focus than most guys and the media will take anything he says and try to spin it.  I remember a game last year where they kept showing clips of what looked like Owens screaming at Romo on the sidelines.  There were reports everywhere of how TO was going off the handle again.  Then we actually heard from Romo, Owens, and others and he was just trying to get the offense excited - not throwing blame at anyone.  I'm not saying the guy doesn't say dumb things, but if you don't think he gets more attention than most NFL players then you're living in a fantasy world.

One more thing since you brought it up - I don't necessarily think it's wrong for Owens to come out and say "we could have won if the O-line had performed better."  Maybe that's true and maybe it fires up the O-line a little bit.  He should take on more of the blame himself too though.  Your example of Willie Parker basically says you should never speak out against the organization even if it's something they feel strongly about - I don't subscribe to that.  You could just as easily say "The Steelers organization doesn't put up with free thought or freedom of speech."  If you want NFL players to act like good little sheep, don't put a camera and a mike in front of them every week.  These guys are here to play football, not make pretty speeches and kiss management butt.

And I guarantee you that most teams not interested in Owens are more afraid of his salary than his mouth.

There's a reason you hear about Owens the most...  He's the most vocal publicly, and teams he's been on have all thought he was worth the trouble.  How many changed their tune though?

He's most vocal publicly?  He speaks at press conferences just like everybody else.  The reason you think he's publicly vocal is that the media covers everything he has to say.  There are hours upon hours of post game PC coverage each week.  Wee only see a small portion of this, but you can guarantee that we'll see anything Owens has to say.  The guy wants to win and gets upset when the team is not winning - wow, what a threat to the team.

Giants fans, keep talking the talk because you're not going anywhere without some upgrades at receiver.

I'm not saying that they don't need a better WR.  Hixon is ok, but he's a better special teams guy.  I just don't think T.O. would be a good fit with the Giants.  Get a rookie before T.O.

Well they have rookies right now and no Owens...how'd that work out for them today?  Rookies are very rarely an instant success if at all.  If you're not looking at a free agent, then Giants fans should plan for their squad to enter a rebuilding phase.

Nice collection and nice customs...but shouldn't the Chiss Jedi's hair be black and eyes red?

Well, that would require some actual work.   ;)  Besides, Red Eyes look kind of evil.

The Giants D did fairly well today, but the Eli didn't seem to show up for the game.  Oh well...I didn't even expect them to make the playoffs this year when the season started so I'm happy with their performance overall this year.

The Def looked great - the offense had it's moments too, but just couldn't get in the end zone.  That could have been a seriously high scoring game if either team could have crossed the stripe instead of settling for FGs.  Blame Eli all you want - I say he doesn't have anyone that good to throw too.  Hixon is probably the best receiver they have and he's just not #1 WR talent.  But of course, they have no need for someone like Owens or Burress for that matter.   ::)

Those paying attention will note that I've got a few customs in my collection.  Interested in hearing what people think about these.  Several are converted Barbies, which I have mixed feelings about including in my SW stuff, but I like the way they fit in with the others and frankly, they're a little more flattering than the female figs Hasbro churns out.

First up is is A'sharad Hett looking a little menacing:

Next is the first of my female customs - a Rebel Tech from Hapes:

This quickly led to the idea of upgrading Slave Leia.  I made a second version with a clearance Barbie and a spare FAO Leia/R2 I picked up for $5:

Last, but not least is a custom Jedi that started out as formal dressed Aayla Secura.  I had the robes from a spare POTF2 Obi-Wan, but never got around to figuring out a good way to make her tendrils.  I put her together as is and decided she'd make a nice Chiss Jedi instead:

I think that's about all I can squeeze into one shelf.  Let me know if you love it or hate it!

Hey all,

I've been updating my 12" shelf the past few weeks and wanted to share a few pictures...

I'll start with a few pictures of the whole shelf:

AT-TE's and Falcons are on clearance everywhere around me at Targets and WMs.  Does this bode well for the future of large vehicles?  Did they sell enough to recoup their cost?  Do retailers know there's more big vehicles coming so they're trying to make room?  Obviously Joe and TF should have a larger footprint this year - SW still has the CW cartoon so I can't see them scaling back shelf space.

I honestly think the biggest issues with the big vehicles this year has been price point and availability.  People are jumping at the opportunity to buy AT-TEs at $80 and Falcons at $100...maybe this is all part of the strategy.  You don't crowd the shelves and put out a very high price point with an initial release.  When sales or clearance hit, they knock a few bucks off, but maybe that's just going down to something still profitable.  If I was Hasbro and made a ship I wanted to retail for $100, why not offer it at $150, get those early adopters to pay an inflated price, then let it filter down to $100, where people are lining up to get them and thinking they got a huge deal.  There are a LOT of people who fool themselves into buying things based on what they're "saving" instead of whether the total cost is acceptable to them or not.

I think this is one of those issues where it's clear that the action figure section needs to be expanded.  There was a time when Target had an aisle and half of action figures - I don't know why they ever moved away from that.  When you consider how low the margin must be on things like the vehicle section (hot wheels) or some of the other slower moving toys in the department, it seems like they would be much better off trading off some of this dead weight to make more room for some of these lines.  Even the latest Target reset  has an expanded GI Joe set, but that's just 8 pegs of basic figs and a few pegs of comic packs at my store.  An extra aisle would offer much more room for some of these battle packs, smaller ships, and big playsets and vehicles.

The Christophsis UBPs sold out a long time ago here, but the Sarlacc UBPs have been sitting on two different endcaps at $54.99 for at least three weeks, and they aren't moving. It's gonna take a much bigger discount to get these moving I think, at least that's what it'll take for me to buy one.

I'm actually seeing the Sarlacc more now than I did before Christmas.  I think I'll finally break and buy either or both if they get down to $30ish.  Otherwise I think I can survive without them.

So are you guys seeing the 3.75" stuff at stores yet?  Walmart put it out here this week but at the rather frightening price of $9.72  :o  I'll admit they look nice and I would have been way, way happier to have this scale versus the original but I am not about to replace 75+ figures; just not going to happen.

Oh, and should there be a new thread for the mini stuff?

I haven't seen any of this stuff at retail yet, though I pretty much only shop at Target with a little TRU mixed in.

I'm surprised how many "experts" picked Atlanta to win today. They were only 4-4 on the road this year, and regardless of how good Matt Ryan was all season, he's still a rookie QB in the playoffs. Arizona isn't any good, but they play well at home and their crowd was really fired up. That's always a bonus.

Just an FYI - that team that isn't any good is looking like they may make it to the final four...  :-X

Those KO combiners suck. I bought a set of Constructicons at Walgreens last year, and it was the worst $6 I ever spent. None of the figures fit together, they can barely transform, and you can feel the lead in the plastic on your fingers.

That's why I'd gladly pay $95 to BBTS or any other importer for a nice reissue set. I haven't seen any individual piece of a vintage Devastator sell for less than $15-20 a piece, though I'll admit I haven't looked for a while.

I'm not sure what Walgreens is selling, but I have this set and the arielbots from Big Lots and they're pretty decent.  The stickers are goofy and even the paint jobs aren't the best, but they all had tight joints and transformed just fine.  I didn't feel any lead in the plastic either - perhaps you've got a superpower that you were unaware of.   ;)
