Hall of Justice / DC Universe Classics

Thanks Brian.  Walmart up here is selling them for $12.92 or something like that.  It's actually getting quite frustrating to see the discrepancies in pricing.  I know you guys have had to endure some significant price jumps in the last couple of years (ML for example) but for us it's been hard watching the Canadian dollar equalize and then pass the US greenbuck.  Our prices have remained stable and still higher than your stuff.  I was hoping we might see some equalization but I guess the only way that's happened is not having our prices go up.  Still, Marvel Legends at $14.95 and the DC stuff $3 more at major retailers is frustrating.  Same for Star Wars as Walmart up here just jacked prices by $1 to $9.44.  Blech.  No wonder my interest in toys is waning.

That stinks.  I have no idea how your income and other taxes play out, but that's a big price discrpancy.  Would you save money just ordering from a US company and just paying the extra shipping to get it sent up North?  Even if you break even, you'd save on gas costs...

How does how he "obviously" survive?

The way I saw it, he is either a) dead on the island or b) still alive on the island.  I think the date on the tombstone leaves his fate wide open...

If he is still on the island or dead, then they were doing a flash forward and flash back at the same time, which I don't think they've done before.  Not saying that can't be it, but I took the Jin/Sun scenes to both be set post rescue, which would mean that Jin is alive, but living a seperate life.  If that's the case, either Sun doesn't know he's still alive or she can't be with him for some reason, which would make her equally sad.  If they do know he's alive, seems kind of pointless to have them go to his grave.

Obviously the writers have some plan to tie all this up, but I'm starting to get impatient to actually see it!

So, the final count on the Oceanic 6 - Jack, Kate, Hugo, Sayid, Aaron and Sun? Everyone in agreement?

Not the way I saw it at all.  I figured the six were Jack, Kate, Hugo, Sayid, Sun, and either Aaron or one more survivor.  No idea what the heck is up with Jin - he obviously survives, but maybe has amnesia?  Weird.  Keep thinking back to Jack's testimony where he said 8 survived the crash, but there is an "Oceanic 6," which must mean that two people's bodies are recovered and appear to have survived the crash, but are obvously dead before the rescue.  What I want to see is how they are going to get around reports that all of the bodies from the plane crash were recovered, but 6-8 other (some live) bodies have shown up, so who are the 6-8 extra dead people?

Yes, my posts have changed.  It would be ridiculous to just keep posting the same thing over and over again for years.    ;D

The Bullpen / Marvel Legends
« on: March 11, 2008, 01:51 PM »
It sure seems to have been a lull lately in all things Marvel.  I think the last time I bought a Legends figure was before Christmas (the F4/Spidey/HML 3 waves), and I haven't heard anything of HML 4 showing up anytime soon.  It might be due to Hasbro taking over the license, the character selection dwindling, or just so many lines out there these days - but it is starting to seem like DCUC is taking that area's thunder a little bit.  I mean, Marvel had its time with the 15 mostly great waves from Toy Biz alone, so I can understand any shift in attention there might be.  Plus, Hasbro does seem to have plenty on their plate these days with Star Wars, Indy, Iron Man/Hulk movies, Transformers, Joe (not to mention movies for Joe and TF again next year).

I grew up more of a Marvel fan, although I've always enjoyed both universes, but I have to admit I'm a little more excited for the DCUC line lately.  Of course, I think a lot of that may be because I already have my "ultimate" Spidey, Cap, F4, X-Men, etc. and we're still looking forward to pretty much all of the "big guns" from DC, outside of Batman and Superman.  I'm curious to see what the Legends line holds for this year beyond HML and the Hulk waves, like what we'll see in the 2-packs.  Is anyone else's interest dwindling a bit?  I'm sure once the new stuff starts hitting, things will change, because I am looking forward to long-requested figures like Black Bolt and Tigra.  Anyways, random thoughts, just noticing a quiet down on the Marvel Legends side of things lately.

I think you're actually being modest about the legends line - it has been nothing short of dead the last year from what I have seen.  Two waves over the course of a year?  YAWN.  I hit a good variety of stores and I never see a changeup of these figs.  They have to be some of the slowest moving product in the aisle.  Although to be fair, I'm not really seeing a lot of sell thru on the new DC line either...
