Yeah, from everything I gather, the general consensus is that Pittsburgh's O-line isn't what it used to be.

Being less than its prime is irrelevant.  If it's better than most teams this year, then I'd still call it great.  They may not be very good at giving Big Ben time, but they sure are opening holes for the running game.

I don't think anyone has one yet, so that's a judegment call at this point.  Check out the pick on page 4 if that helps...

While we're on the subject of a certain J. Wolcott...

And her record picking NFL games is 49-39, so she's got a better football mind than most of us... ;D

Yeah, Melwede Moore...  Nobody here was familiar with him...  They only said he'd been with Tomlin over with the Vikings, so people figured he had something Tomlin liked.  He was surprisingly fantastic Sunday though.  I was pleased and liked his running style more than Parker...  Small guy too, for how he was pounding the ball.  He's not much larger than I am.

He never amounted to much with the Vikes.  I think what we saw this weekend was that Pittsburgh has a great offensive line and Cinci has a crap defense.  Fast Willie would have likely equalled or surpassed M&M's stats had he played.

Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees have been better than Brett Favre as well.

Not in terms of TD production.

Ruiner - Brees had an awful game on Sunday... should we assume he's washed up as well?

Word on Brett Favre is that he's washed up.

Favre led his team, on the road, out of his own end zone with 1:15 left, to a game tying field goal.  A few weeks ago he threw 6 TD's in one game, and he's doing it on a mediocre team.

If you want to see washed-up, look at Brad Johnson, who couldn't hit the broad side of a barn all day, and he had Terrel Owens, Roy Williams, Jason Witten, and Marion Barber on offense.

Sorry if his fantasy stats were lackluster this week, but he's by no means washed up.

Amen.  He has over 1100 yards already, and 13 TDs this season - that's second only to Rivers and Romo, both of whom haven't had their bye weeks yet.  Maybe it's your football insight that is truly washed up.   ;)

Steelers embarassed a team that nobody thought it could get much worse. :)  Cincinatti's become as annoying to me as Cleveland, so that was just a satisfying win.  Especially watching our new RB tear **** up.  It wasn't against a fantastic defense, but that guy was bouncing the outside, and hitting the hole like a mack truck.  In general though, a great Steeler win.

New RB?

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Question About Zombies!
« on: October 17, 2008, 12:01 AM »
Yes, Zombies.

I'm currently developing a story about zombies and I neded some feedback.  In the Romero films, the Zombies return to places that are important to them.  My friend seems to think that this idea first came up in the "I am Legend" novel. (yes, they're vampies, but zombie like..) My question is this, is the idea of returning to a place specific to one creator, or is this accpted Zombie "lore" at this point?

Any thoughts or examples of this showing up in other movies/books would be great.---Mike

That was certainly the case in Dawn of the Dead, but not sure that I saw Zombies return to places important to them in his other flicks.  I would put it more that they retain a certain sense of self somewhere latent in whatever's left of their brain.  In fact, if you read the Marvel Zombies comics, the super hero types actually lose their hunger momentarily and regain a sense of clarity after they feed, but are quickly overcome by hunger again.  If you're looking for a story idea, I like that concept and haven't seen it elsewhere...

I think its funny how all these new incarnations of the Avengers still have Captain America in them, but they killed him off in the comics over a year ago.

Yeah, although the book has still been quite good I think - I miss Steve Rogers, and have a feeling he'll be "back" in the comics in time for his movie in 2011, if not sooner.

We'll see.  Maybe they'll figure out something with the Invaders Crossover.  Look how long its taking to get Hawkeye back into the fold (not counting Ronin of course).  What's it been 3-4 years?

I was going to be all smart-assed and say something like "I don't know, let's ask the Redskins" but, alas, it was too late.

No, that was still worth a chuckle.   ;D

I STILL STILL STILL think the price increases on this stuff is outrageous.  I have no idea who manages pricing for these things, but they obviously have no idea what they're doing.  I help analyze pricing impact for CPG products and you would NEVER see food products take a 50% increase or more.  Do they honestly think that things like raising Marvel Legends from $10 to $15 won't have a big impact on sales!?  Sure, you'll still get some diehards, but not enough to support a line from what I've seen.  They'd be far better off raising the price something lower like 5-10% each year or growing by a buck with ever other wave.  Gradual pricing is expected, but these massive jumps in price just make you instantly feel like you're getting screwed.

Hey guys i just started getting into the marvel comics and toys. I've always loved the movies though and i was thinking about buying: Marvel Legends Face Off Twin Packs Captain America Vs. Red Skull Action Figure Set for $45.99 off of amazon and was just wondering if that's a good deal for the two or not?

This is for just one of them?  That's a horrible price.  I think it was just $20 retail.  To each his own, but there are other Cap and Skull figures you could get for less.  Just check Ebay.

Maybe.  You just can't call any of these games this year - just last week the Rams got their first win by beating the Redskins.

Its been an odd year for that.  Still can't get over the Browns destroying the Giants on Monday night.  Dallas is doubly in trouble since Felix Jones is out - Barber is good, but youc an't just run him all day long.

Don't speak Chinese (Manderin), but would guess that it is going to be about the same size as Masterpiece Megatron or about 13" tall.

There was an earlier post or description stating someone thought it would be even bigger given the added cost...
