Kubricks / Re: Series 10
« on: July 16, 2009, 09:31 PM »
Awesome, Jay! Glad you got a cool chase. Now, I wonder how Justin's turned out now that we know yours.

Congrats again on the 4-arm Jay, that was sweet!  And landing it as the very first one is the best way to go IMO.

My S10 had no chases, but I'm not complaining after getting the L-Slot Fett in my other box and splitting the Fett Commons with Jay.  I already have Gree and while I certainly wouldn't turn down a 4-Arm or Tion, they aren't "must-haves" for me either.  I know its all luck, but kudos to NCS on the awesome turn out with 3 chase boxes out of the four we ordered!

I opened mine this weekend - just couldn't wait for the meeting.  So I had a few brews, headed to the bat-cave (my basement) and popped open the Fett box first.  I opened a Kenner Fett box first and inside was a sweet little L-Slot Fett.  I didn't even open any more for about an hour I was so pschyed.  Jay and I decided to split if either got the common chase, so his win with the common yesterday, was a big win for me too.  No chases with my series 10, but we had three chase boxes out of four, so can't complain about that.  Both of us also ordered Gree ahead of time, so S10 and the Fetts worked out pretty nicely.  ;D

I'm not sure if others ordered more than one box, but that looks like 10 chase boxes out of 16 or so from NCS.  WOW.  I will definitely order from them again and thanks to whomever found that site in the first place!

Kubricks / Re: Recent Acquisitions
« on: July 16, 2009, 09:16 PM »
I managed to nab the L-slot Fett in my box from NCS and got the common chase from Jay's pull yesterday.  Also picked up all but the Luke/Yoda from the last Mediacom box set via Dan AND a Shadow Trooper from him as well.  Thanks Guys!  Not a bad week in Kubrick Acquisitions!

All I had to read before I knew he was an idiot.

What? I think it's nice that he's working with the community on a big collage.   ;)  I wonder if he's an Englitch Majer?

Get set for some long waits.  Collecting Kubricks is a lot like watching LOST.  Several weeks of excitement with a 9-month wait in between.  At least you can use the gaps to try to fill in the holes from earlier series you may have missed.   ;)

Site Feedback, Suggestions, and Help / Re: Forum Ranks
« on: July 13, 2009, 11:20 PM »
So those of you with IE 6 had better upgrade your browser (or convince your office to) it is more than dead at this point.

My work upgraded to IE7 over the weekend and the rankings look much nicer without the white squared borders.  Guess I'll need to make the upgrade at home now - provided I won't have a nightmare.   :)

I upgraded to IE8 over the weekend.  I like the ranks better, but the alternating blue/gray backgrounds are bugging me now.  My screen moves all over when I type a response as well.  Booo!  >:D

The question about order brings up, again, the fact that 3 white Fett figures in this series was maybe one too many.  I can see doing the two McQuarrie versions because the helmets are so radically different, but the B&W figure seems like a wasted opportunity to me.

They could have done the kit-bashed Fett which, while similar to the Kenner figure, is still just enough different that it would have stood out better than the B&W figure.  The final concept kit-bash does have a rather different paint scheme on the helmet and gauntlets from the Kenner figure.

Still, over all, I'm happy with this set for the most part.  Still wish I could have scored tht L-Slot chase, though.

   E...

Those are good suggestions, but I like the White Prototype Fett better than these.  The three whiteys do seem excessive - ideally we could have had one McQuarrie Fett and they could have just included two heads since the rest of the body is the same.  Oh well, pretty nice series regardless.

Updating I Am Sith's tracking.  Anyone I missed?

Kubricks / Re: Custom Star Wars Kubricks
« on: July 13, 2009, 09:15 AM »
Nice collection of custom troopers there I Am Sith.  I think my favorite is the Stealth Biker Scout - that looks pretty nice.

A question for you (or others) on customizing Kubies.  Do all of the parts just pop off or will they break?  Do you boil and pop to get pieces apart? I thought the heads would at least come off easily, but I feel like I'm going to break the clonetrooper or stormtrooperhead if I pull any harder.  Thoughts/suggestions?

Thanks!

OK...super Geek question...
if you were going to put the Boba Kubes in chronological order what would they be?
Did the Kenner figure come after the Holiday special?  etc

CB

That's a pretty tough question, since they're all from such different source material.  I guess I go would withthis:

1.) McQ Fett concept silly mask
2.) McQ Fett concept T-visor

These were the first two versions of the character's development.

3.) Holiday Special (aired 1978)
4.) Black and White prototype armor (screen tested for ESB)
5.) Vintage Toy (based on the color scheme decided upon for the movies, which sould have followed the prototype)
6.) Droids version

Droids technically takes place before ANH I believe, so you could argue for this one to move up the list based on chronology of events.  That said, the show wasn't created until the mid 80's, so that design for Fett was really the last of them.

For the chases, I guess I would put the J and L slot versions right before the Vintage Toy version and the more common chase right after him.

Kubricks / Re: Your Favorite Kub?
« on: July 12, 2009, 11:14 PM »
After getting the Fett series, I have to go with the Kenner Boba Fett as my all time favorite to date.  I loved the kenner Fett when I Was a kid and the Kube version is just an insanely cool homage to that figure.

Is he still gonna be Deadpool?

I think he's still going to be deadpool.  I thought I read somewhere that he has been interested in the character for years, so I'd be surprised to see him just bag it for another super hero gig.

Feedback / Re: JediJman's feedback

I recently bought a few figures from Justin. He told me that if I paid that night he'd ship them the next day. After about two weeks I inquired about the figures as I had not received them. He told me that he found them in the back seat of his wifes car and he'd ship them asap. A few days later I got the figures and they were in good shape. I wasn't happy about the delay but mistakes happen.

Sorry man.  As I said, I work 8-5 and it's not easy to get to the post, so I enlisted my wife on this one.  Apologies for the delay, but I'm glad you eventually got and liked your figs.   ;)

Kubricks / Re: Kubrick errors/variations?
« on: July 11, 2009, 05:47 PM »
I was going through my Jabba's palace set-up, and decided to pull Yakface down and admire him again. I noticed that he has a glossy darker brown paint in his right ear, but the left ear is painted the same as the head. Both nostrils have the darker paint as well, so I am guessing someone just missed an ear at the factory that day. My daugther cracked him out of a master case, so he wasn't a back-door factory-second.

Does anyone else have any notable paint errors/variations?

I actually have a similar issue with my S10 Anakin that I opened yesterday.  His hairpiece has one painted peach ear and one ear that is white (non painted?).  If anyone is into these kinds of errors, I'd behappy to trade mine for one with both ears painted.

Well, Jay couldn't make it Friday and I lost my will power after a few brews, so I opened up my S10 and Fetts last night.  I'll hold off on reporting what I pulled until our meeting on Wednesday.  I'm much more impressed with both sets after seeing them in person, especially the fetts (though why we have three different white versions I have no idea).
